Jonathan walked into the infirmary and already noticed how one of the curtains wasn't fully drawn. Damn... he thought to himself as Mildred greeted him. "Of course Mildred i'm always happy too see you." he said as he smiled at her. He then noticed her hand movements towards Vivian and as he looked at her, he saw that she appeared to be in some sort of trance. "Oh no..." he said, already knowing why she was behaving like this. When Mildred brought up the drone looking for food, he nodded slightly, not taking his eyes off Vivian. "Yeah that's fine. I'm gonna see if I can talk her out of it, if you'll excuse me." he said as he walked over and sat down next to Vivian.

"Hey. You feeling alright?" he asked with a soft smile on his face, watching as she didn't react to his question. He let out a sigh as he looked up at the ceiling. "It sucks having a lot of responsibility doesn't it? Knowing that you are in control of the people around you, that your choices could mean life and death. I know how you feel princess. The way your reacting now is the same way I reacted when the first person under my command died while trying to escape your father and his goons. I felt guilty for so long and felt that it was all my fault. Of course, eventually I realized that no matter what the circumstance, there was nothing I could have done to prevent his death. Of course, the more and more people died under my command, the more used to it I got. Sure the more people that died I felt bad for, but the effect of it really didn't linger in me for very long." he said as he looked at her. "Listen, all I can tell you, from experience, is that it isn't your fault. Sometimes fate teaches us lessons that make us never forget them." he said as he gently patted her head. "You will be fine. I promise you that it wasn't your fault, no one is, or ever will blame you." he said smiling at her.

✦ Vivian finally blinked when Jonathan came over to her but she did not move otherwise. In fact she didn't move for some time after he finished. Mildred was about to go over and smack the girl to see if she reacted when Vickan looked down at her hands. "There was so much blood... So much. Why did he bleed that much? Why couldn't I stop it? Tell me why it didn't stop. I did everything the doctor told me to. Was I just doing it wrong?" She muttered to herself, the boy from last night staring at her nervously. Upon seeing the child start to get upset Mildred took matters into her own hands. "Look Vivian I adore you. I really do but if you're going to space out here you have to leave. Do not let her back in here, take her anywhere but here just don't let her come back." She said calmly as she dragged the girl up by her arm before pushing her towards the exit. Vivian didn't have it in her to protest as she began rubbing her hands together, almost as if she were trying to wipe something off. "Try to make sure someone or something is with her at all times until she snaps out of this. I know you can't do it because everyone else needs you, but at least ensure that she won't be able to hurt herself." She watched as Vivian walked on aimlessly while rubbing her hands before sighing quietly and going back to tend the wounded. ✦

Before Jonathan could respond to Vivian, Mildred stood in, telling Vivian that she needs to leave and wanted Jonathan to watch over her. He nodded as he left the infirmary as well as he walked up to Vivian, not wanting to leave her alone. He smiled as he had an idea and grabbed her hand. "Come. I want to show you something." he said as he led her back to his father's mech. He pushed a button on his wrist and a hatch opened at it's abdomen and a ladder came down. He helped her up the ladder and into the Bridge, showing everything that made the mech tick. "So, this is where the magic happens." he said as he sat down on the main chair. "Go ahead and explore, but don't touch anything, and when your ready come see me." he said as he fidgeted around with his seat.

✦ Vivian silently allowed him to grab her hand and let him drag her off to gods only know where. Her curious it was piqued though when she saw where he had taken her, the memory of the soldier's blood on her hands starting to slowly disappear as her natural curiosity began to take over. Her father had never actually never allowed her to be inside on of the mechs before so when Jonathan ushered her up the ladder she didn't resist, instead she slowly climbed up into the control pit where she was told to explore. It took her a while to process what she was being told, and even longer to do as she was told, but eventually she caved in to her curious mind and traced her fingers along the controls. She made sure to avoid pressing any buttons of flipping any switches as she felt along the cool metal, perfectly aware that she had been told not to touch. But how could she not? Everything in here was so interesting to look at and an adventurer cannot simply just look at something, they have to feel too. "Why... Why did you bring me here?" She asked quietly, her fingers finding a switch on the control panel. She avoided flicking it and instead took her hand away before looking up at Jobathan through her bsngs, not yet able to look him in the eyes after one of his men died in her care. ✦

Jonathan looked up at Vivian when she asked him why he brought her. "I'm going to cheer you up, whether you like it or not." he said as pulled her on his lap and put the seat belt over them. "I'm sorry if this is awkward but this is to guarentee your safety." he said as he turned on the power of the mech. The ignition started quickly as it then became alive. "Good morning General. All status is normal and we are ready combat." the voice said as the mech became fully operational. "Don't worry it always says that when I turn it on." he said as he pushed a few more buttons. After that, hatches on the ankles and the back of the mech started opening up, appearing to be large exhaust vents. He then opened a case that had a button in it. "Go ahead and push it." he said smiling at her.

✦ "You are doing this for something as meaningless as cheering me up?! You can't sit here and play in a mech with me when your people need you to help them reorganize! Don't you remember-Eek!" Vivian squealed as she was dragged down onto Jonathan's lap, blushing vividly when he strapped them both in. "I-It's not uncomfortable. Just a little... Inappropriate." She whispered the last word quietly, not really wanting to be heard as she sat there awkwardly in his lap. She could feel her heart trying to beat out of her chest but she didn't know why. It had never beat that hard before except when she was scared, but this wasn't fear. This was something different and she wanted to figure out what it was but at the same time she was to scared to do so. The sound of the mech talking to Jonathan yanked her back to reality, a small frown spreading across her lips. "Jonathan really, you should be down there with your people and... That's no fair! Don't look at me that way!" She pouted as she looked up at him, immediately regretting it when she saw him smiling at her. "Fine! I'm pushing it!" Her hand hesitated over the button for a few seconds before she just went for it and pressed her palm against it, waiting to see what woukd happen next. ✦

As Vivian pushed the button, what sounded like an engine starting filled the whole mech. "I hope you ain't afraid of heights." Jonathan said as the exhaust panels started shooting out fire. After that, the mech slowly started taking off into the air, building more speed the higher it got. Eventually when it got to the appropriate speed, Jonathan looked down at Vivian. "Hope your ready. This thing is faster than she looks." he said as he positioned the mech for flight and then took off flying through the sky.

✦ "Heights? That sounds like an adventure to me." She said with all seriousness as the mech began to shake a bit. She wanted to cover her ears to block out the sound of the engine but she had been to distracted by the fact that the mech was going up. The force of the machine flying upward weighed down on her as she couldn't help but lean forward as much as she could to get a better look, she had even forgotten about what was beneath them as she looked out at the sky around them. "Bring it! I can handle some speed!" She was left breathless as she looked down at the world around them. Then the mech really took off, earning an excited shriek from the girl as she reached out on of her hands to grab ahold of his arm. A smile was spread wide across her face while she took in her first sight of the outside world since Jonathan had taken her, enjoying as it blurred by them in a sea of green and blue. "Oh gods this is insane! If Maria found out that I was in a mech, and with a boy nodoubt, she would surly faint! I now see why this was a secret! I wouldn't want to share this either." She couldn't help but lean back against them an when she felt the force of the mech's movements weigh against her while she giggled uncontrollably at the giddy feeling that ran through her. ✦

Jonathan smiled and laughed the more excited she got. It was actually good to hear her laugh after so much has happened the last couple days. He then started doing some mid air rolls and tricks, kinda being a show off but hoping that it would cheer her up some more. He then flew just above the water line and they watched as the ocean was rushing right by them, almost as if they were looking at a waterfall. After that he shot back up into the air and started flying through the clouds. The way that the sun was shining through the clouds made the scene much more beautiful.

✦ "Is that the ocean? I've never seen it in person before" the trees always covered it so I could never see past them. It's beautiful!" She was beyond goddy now, she couldn't even control herself as she tried to take in as much as she could. They would just have to go back to the gloom of the prison below when they were done up here but that didn't matter to her in that moment because she was above their troubles. "Stop it you show off I'm gonna be sick if you keep rolling like that, I'm not used to this like you are." Her laughter betrayed her words as he took them up higher, Vivian bringing her hands up to block the glare of the sun. Nothing could bring her down after this, she was literally on top of the world at that moment. "Heywhats that flying towards us over there?" She asked curiously as she saw two dots flying at them quickly, there was something familiar about how they flew but she couldn't remember for the life of her. ✦

When Vivian pointed out that something was in front of them, Jonathan looked and tried to make out what it was. As they got closer, he noticed that those were scouts for the king. "Oh s**t..." he said as he quickly turned the mech around and started heading towards the opposite direction. It wasn't long before an alarm went off indicating that the two mechs were giving chase. "Dammit...i'm going to try to lose them!" he said as he then made a dive for the ocean. Just as it looked like they were going to crash into it, Jonathan pulled up at the last minute, however the mechs were still giving chase. He was now starting to get anxious and upset as he made his way to the clouds, swerving around until they lost them. After a few moments, Jonathan was able to lose them and was no longer picking them up on radar. He made his way back to the prison which only took a couple minutes. They landed a couple hundered feet from the prison and they both got out of the mech.

"That was way too close! If they both found you or this prison it would have been bad." he said as he quickly made his way back to the main complex, only to find everyone in a group. He got curious as too what was going on. "What the hell is going on?" Jonathan asked, obviously sounding upset. As he was making his way up to the crowd, he stopped when they parted, revealing a General in full military uniform. "So you're the leader of this band of brigands. I am Vice General Watkins of the Mech Force, and I have been sent by the king to negotiate a trade for Princess Vivian." the General said with an authoritive tone of voice.

✦ Vivian screamed as he made the mech dive towards the water. This flying was a lot different then the leisurely fun they had been doing only moments before hand. This was desperate and dangerous. A part if her loved it because it was an adventure that she had never experienced before, but the part of her that told her to shut her eyes and pray that they didn't die won over. Her didn't open again until she felt the mech slow down a bit in the clouds. "That's enough adventure for now. I would like to kiss the ground now." She squeaked quietly, tightening her grip on Jonathan's arm as he took them down a few hundred feet from the prison. She wasted no time in scrambling out of the mech with Jonathan behind her. Despite the chase they had just gone through there was still a smile on her face as she followed behind him. ✦

✦ Her smile was soon replaced with a frown however when she saw one of her father's generals organizing the rebels into a group. Mildred!" She saw the old woman with the group of the injured who were layed out in the group. The old woman was currently holding the young boy who looked up at the soldiers with fear in his eyes. "Vice General please stop this! I am unharmed and I am positive that they have no intentions of harming me. You are scaring innocent people who just want to lead better lives so I beg of you to please stop terrorizing them this instant!" She came up to stand beside Jonathan before turning to him slightly. "Jonathan just give them whatever they want to keep your people safe. They need to now more than ever." She whispered quietly, a sad smile playing on her face as she thought about the injured people who were being forced to lay on the hard, rocky ground. ✦

"With all due respect Princess this man kidnapped you which is a crime punishable by death. The only reason i'm sparring this man is so he can hand you over to us safely. The Vice General said as he watched Vivian walk back to Jonathan, who heard her beg to give them whatever they wanted. He was really hesitant in doing any business with the King's goons, but to free his people, he was willing to do anything. He then looked over at the Vice General as he walked over to him. They stood a couple feet from eachother, Jonathan obviously showing a lot of hate in his eyes. "So in exchange for the princess, my people will go free, and my ransom will be payed." he stated simply. "Of course." the Vice General said as he ordered one of the soldiers to bring a case with the ransom money.

Jonathan grabbed the briefcase and walked over to Vivian, with a rather uninspired look on his face. "It was nice knowing you princess. I can only hope you become a better leader than your father." he said, saying his goodbyes to Vivian as a guard walked up to Vivian and escorted her away from Jonathan. When she was at a safe distance, the Vice General looked at Jonathan. "What are you waiting for?! Release my people!" Jonathan ordered. However after doing so, the Vice General had a smile on his face. "I don't think so. I was ordered to execute all prisoners by the King himself. Men! Ready...aim...fire!" the Vice General shouted as the soldiers pointed their guns at the rebel group and opened fire. Jonathan quickly dropped the brief case with a face of undeniable shock. "No!" Jonathan shouted as he ran towards the Vice General only to be knocked down by the butt of one of the soldier's gun. Jonathan quickly hit the dirt and was forced down by other soldiers, only to watch as his entire group was killed before his eyes.

"You son of a b***h! I'll kill you!" Jonathan shouted as he struggled to get free, but was unsuccessful. The Vice General only laughed as he walked up to Jonathan. "Oh really? Let me fuel your anger more. Destroy that mech!" the Vice General said as he pointed at Jonathan's father's mech. "NO! Don't you dare touch that!" Jonathan shouted, pleading to not touch his most prized possession. The Vice General only laughed. "And what are you going to do about it? Kill me? Yeah right." he said mocking Jonathan as a mech soldier walked up to Jonathan's mech. Jonathan could only watch in horror as they opened fire upon it, watching it get destroyed before his eyes. After a few moments, the mech crashed to the ground, becoming a pile of scrap. After that, Jonathan appeared to have been in a state of shock. The Vice General walked up to Jonathan and looked at him dead in the eye as the soldiers kept him on his feet. "Now those are the eyes of a defeated man. The king is going to have a lot of fun with you. Put him in shackles and throw him in the back of the truck." he again commanded as Jonathan was quickly restrained and literally thrown in the back of the truck as they made their way back to the kingdom.

✦ "Don't talk that way. I'll see you again one day, and when I'm queen I will find you again and clear your name as thanks for showing me what's beyond the castle walls." Vivian smiled at Johnathan, patting his arm as she walked by him. She hated the thought of having the be trapped in the castle once more but she understood that his people came first. "Good bye princess." Mildred called out to the girl who turned to look at the old woman that she had grown fond of. She was about to say goodbye back at her when the soldiers around her aimed their weapons at the rebel group. "No!" She screamed, running for the group only to be grabbed by a soul diet who held her as she kicked and screamed to be let free so that she could go help the people that have become important to her. "There were children! Why would you do that! Stop please!" She managed to slam the back of her head against the soldier's chin and slip out of his arms only for another soldier to grab her back up. This time a cloth was pout over her mouth and nose. "Calm down princess. We can't have you freaking out in the truck." The words were spoken in her ear as she watched Jonathan's mech get destroyed through blurred vision. "Jonathan..." She weakly called out to the leader as her eyes shut. ✦

✦ When she woke up again she was in the backseat of a vehicle and she was extremely disoriented. "What...? Wait where are Jonathan and Mildred." She asked quietly as she slowly pushed herself up, immediately regretting doing so. She managed to look out the windshield when her head stopped spinning as much and nearly screamed in frustration when she saw the castle. "Let me out of here. I refuse to be in the same vehicle as a group of cold blooded killers." She demanded of the group, still unable to make out who was with her thanks to how disoriented she was. Then she remembered Jonathan. Is he alright? Oh gods please let him be alright. And if he is alright please give me the time to fix this mess! She thought desperately as she pushed her messy hair out of her face to get a better look at her new captors.. ✦

Within a few minutes they drove past the gates and into the castle. Jonathan and Vivian were in different trucks as one of the trucks stopped in front of the castle as the other went straight to the prison. The king was outside waiting to finally reunite with his daughter. As the guards pulled Vivian out of the truck, the king walked up to her with a smile and open arms. "My daughter..so good to finally have you home." he said as he hugged her. "You must have been so scared, but your home now and you have no need to be afraid anymore." he said as he held her close.

Meanwhile, Jonathan was being dragged into the prison. He was then stripped of his clothing and given prison clothing to wear. After he was thrown into a cell he was chained up and beat relentlessly by the guards, however, his body became so numb after watching everything he had taken away from him, that he didn't react to any of it, still in his state of shock.
