Marie nodded weakly. She fiddled with the hem of her top layer of skirt.But why did she feel heat rise to her face as he spoke about her. "Yes...I want ice cream..please"

Zack saw her blush slightly. "Okay," he said, "then follow me," he finished as he brought no attention to her blushing, being polite. He grabbed a dark black sweatshirt to cover his head with a hood. Sun+this vampire=bad. He held her hand and took her to the walkable distance away ice cream parlor. He didn't plan on createing drama, but if they acted differently around her, he would if needed.

Her light violet hair started darkening in the sun light. She payed no mind to it. As they walked her eyes danced around looking at the different things. But when someone tried to meet her eyes she would look down,away from them. She knew it would be better if they didn't know.

Zack shoved the hood off his head, his 'human' face on. He saw all the displayed flavors, but already knew he was getting 'cookies and cream', his favorite. "Hey Maria, look at all the flavors and choose one you like. If you want you can also ask for a sample and they'll give you a small spoon of it," he said. He knew she probably didn't even know what half the words meant since she could barely read. He wanted her to try to choose a flavor on her own though.

Maria nodded. She started reading down the list. Some of the words gave her flashbacks..old memories. She looked at one It reminded her of the name of somthing she had before. "Cookies..and cream?" she had a cookie before and liked it.She was curious if it would taste similar.

"Okay then," Zack said as they arrived at the front of the line.
"What can we get for you today?" the man at the desk asked.
"Two cones of Cookies and Cream, one scoop each," Zack said ready to have some of the delicious dessert in his belly.
"Yes sir," he said as the man went to get them.

Maria waited patiently. Her eyes danced among the others around them,keeping subtle. She had no idea what time period it was. But she made sure she had no eye contact..that wouldnt have been good. A little girl passed by and commented her lips gloss. maria was confused...lip gloss?

The man from behind the counter finished the two cones and handed one to each of them. "That'll be $4.56," he said to Zack. Zack handed him a $5 and got 44 cents back. "Thank you very much," the guy behind the counter said.
They both found a bar and sat down. He began licking away at his ice cream. "Well, dig in," he said to Maria. "It tastes great, they blended it well today. I've come here in other days when it wasn't blended well and tasted worse, but today it's really good," he commented as he snacked away.

Maria chuckled softly watching him. She looked at her cone with intrest though. She thought Ice cream were actually made of ice. Though..it was mealting like ice. She had no idea what to do so she licked the running side softly. She tensed. WOW. She was already in heaven.She dug into the ice cream happily. She didn't care what it was..it just tasted soooo good. But she made a mistake and ate a little too fast. She touched her forhead "oowww" she chuckled

Zack saw her feasting on it and tried to warn her, "Don't eat too fast or..." she touched her forehead and chuckled 'oowww,'. "Or you'll get a brain freeze. It'll go away in a few seconds, so just relax. Don't eat that fast though or you'll get another one," he said before eating away at his ice cream. He could feel the sugary sweetness go down his throat and into his stomacth, but it never seemed to fill him, only blood did that. Ice cream was no subsitute for blood. "I guess you like ice cream though?" he said as he chuckled.

Maria smiled when she was done nodding. "Yes..very uch" she giggled softly. Her eyes were lit up. But not out of the oridary..they were lit with happiness.

Zack saw a bit of Maria's happiness. Good, he thought. He'd managed to take whatever image had freaked her out earlier out of her mind. His whole goal. "Well, ready to go back home?" he asked her before takeing his very last bite. Eating the sugar cone.

Maria nodded gently. She wiped her hands with a napikin then threw it out. She smiled softly,still not keeping eye contact with others.Though it was driving her nuts.

Zack took her back home, his black hood over his head again. He walked back in the door and sighed at the coolness of the house, it was sootheing. He removed his hood and looked at her, "Why didn't you keep eye contact with anyone?" he asked. He'd noticed, but hadn't wanted to bring it up in front of everyone either.

Her hair color lightened back to normal. She looked at him. "Um...'' she hesitated,fiddling with the hem of her skirt. "Well..." she sat on the couch,she patted it. "Look into my eyes and find out.." she brushed her hair back.
