I agree with Invi on the Marmite side of things. Salty axle grease is the best approximation I can come up with.

And I'll be agreeing with Longbow on the bacon......yeuch! Revolting stuff.

You know, I do love bacon. But it smells so much better than it tastes. And I have to admit, Britain doesn't do it very well. My cousin came over from South Africa for 18 months and she loved everything else here, preferred it to SA so much, but she never got the hang of the odd bacon.
