A Shadow Looms Ahead!
"That is far enough!"
As the first of many pokemon grows close to the mountain's peak, the booming voice echoes down from above so that all may hear it. A figure cloaked in shadow by the perpetually sinking sun behind them hovers at a plateau upon the peak, glaring down at the approaching army of pokemon with cold eyes. With a body of pure darkness akin to a ghost, there was no mistaking the being that was addressing them. Clearly, this had to be the bringer of nightmares itself, the legendary pokemon Darkrai.
"I know why you are here. Those Munna down below have sent you to purge this world of my realm, and me along with it. I refuse to let that happen."
The Darkrai stretches both arms in front of him, the palms of its hands facing outward. As a black orb of energy crackles into existence between the Darkrai's hands, the ground quakes and shudders. A pool of darkness appears on the plateau in front of the legendary pokemon, shadows bubbling up from the inky depths. The liquid shadows converge, and a black shape begins to rise from the pool. And rise. And rise. Towering over all the pokemon present is a dark amalgamation of parts, and as the darkness sinks into the creature's skin, its true color of brown with gold, purple, orange, and green can be seen as the vile monstrosity's form solidifies.

"BIIIIIIIDOOOOOOOOF!"
As the terrifying monstrosity let out a booming roar, the entire mountain seemed to shudder! ...Including Darkrai? "O-oh... I might have overdone it a tad..." The master of nightmares looked almost sheepish as it lowered its arms, but quickly took on a stern look as it glared down at the pokemon below. "Return to the realm below of your own accord, or my guardian shall throw you from this mountain!" Darkrai warned as he hovered well above and away from any sort of conflict that might begin.
Point of Clarification
Hi guys! So, this boss fight is gonna work a bit differently than the last two. First, there is only one ultimate nightmare, and there is no limit to how many pokemon can join in the fight against it. Likewise, it doesn't matter when your pokemon reaches the ultimate nightmare (Floor 5, step 30). If you reach that step and the battle is still raging, you join in. The last major change is that, due to how many pokemon are participating, assist moves do not work against the ultimate nightmare.
The ascent up the mountainous pass was risky at best. Being of a round shape with stubby legs made it rather precarious for the dragon to make his way up the path when it grew narrow. When Daphne's finally reached the peak he felt a wash of relief pass over him. However, his time of rest was not long lasting as a voice soon penetrated the dusk sky. "Is it him?" Daphnes voiced, his body going stiff. Slowly and surely, the voice soon gave way to a physical form. So this was Darkrai? The fiend dare threaten them? What happened next was beyond any nightmare Daphnes could ever think he'd come to have... a form appeared from Darkrai's doing that towered over even the tallest Pokemon in the area... a collective abomination with the head of a Bidoof. From Daphnes' viewpoint he could barely see over the things ankles, let alone look up to the beastly creature's face. "This is it, brothers!" Daphnes voiced, not entirely paying attention to the words he spoke. "This is where we do our duty and protect those weaker and unable to protect themselves!"

As the group continued upwards along the mountain path, Radium kept her attention between traveling along the precarious path as well as keeping up to date with the conversation between everyone else. Though, all attention was stripped when they reached the top. Not only did Darkrai finally reveal itself, but it also summoned an abomination from the shadows as a final guardian for them to fight. Radium felt her heart skip a beat when the creature appeared... it was... HUGE! "Wh-what the hell is that thing!?" Radium squeaked, hugging her stick even tighter. This... this certainly wasn't what she was expecting to see in the end. Were they really expected to fight that thing?

Damage caused by entry hazards, such as Spikes, recoil and crash damage is prevented. Magic Guard will also prevent Life Orb's HP deduction without negating its power boost. Damage from confusion still occurs. Magic Guard does not prevent a Pokémon from cutting its own HP, such as with Belly Drum, Substitute, or Curse when used by a Ghost type. ☆ ☆【Piper listened intently to the ongoing conversation between her friends as they traversed the somewhat treacherous mountain path. She carefully maneuvered her way around some of the more narrow areas and made sure her teammates all crossed over safely as well, from the looks of it hardly anything but mist and darkness awaited below if any unfortunate soul were to accidentally fall off… As they progressed onwards, the feeling that the hardest fight they’d ever face would be waiting for them atop that peak made the Noivern feel more and more uneased as the top of the mountain loomed closer and closer with each step they took. She wasn’t entirely sure of what to expect if Darkrai was indeed there… but at this point all they could really do was proceed carefully, be as prepared as they could be, and hope for the best. They would need to win this fight in order to escape, and Arceus help them if they ever found out what would happen if they were to somehow taste defeat… And hopefully, once they had all returned to their trainers in the real world, she would be able to see her new friends again sometime… hopefully sooner rather than later in that case.
Upon closing in on the peak, Piper’s ears stood up in alarm as a deep, rich voice called out to them from above, telling them they had gone far enough. She looked up to see a shadowy figure hovering there on a plateau just across the way, the forever setting sun behind them showing them its appearance in full. The figure looked very much ghost-like with a shock of flowing white mane atop its head, bright blue eyes glaring coldly at all the Pokemon encroaching on the area. Was that… Darkrai? Surely it had to be, all things considered it couldn’t be any other Pokemon but him. Piper tittered apprehensively as Darkrai addressed them, remarking that he knew they were here to purge him from this world and that he had every intention of not allowing that to happen. As he spoke, the shadowy, ghastly figure conjured up a ball of dark energy in his hands, a great hole of darkness forming on the plateau, bubbling and seething like a geyser about to erupt. Out from the pool rose a figure of great proportions, growing bigger, and bigger, and bigger until it seemed to almost take up the entirety of the peak itself. As the colossal looming figure finished pulling itself out from the darkness, all the black drained from its form to reveal the terrifying monstrosity in all of its hideous glory. ”O-Oh… Oh d-dear…” Piper warbled fearfully, her fur standing stiff as the nightmarish beast announced its arrival with an earth-shattering roar that seemed to shake the whole mountain. In spite of the rather comical Bidoof face it wore, this thing was absolutely terrifying just on sheer size and scale alone! Even Darkrai seemed to be somewhat scared as he admitted that he might have overdone it a little, but the moment quickly passed as he ordered them to leave or else his guardian would force them to.
The Noivern frowned as she heard Radium’s frightened squeak from next to her, joining in with the chorus of fearful and bewildered cries that filled the air as other Pokemon took in the monstrosity’s appearance. ”I-I… I don’t…” she stuttered and stumbled over her words as she failed to get out a coherent answer, shaking her head as she stared at the giant beast with wide eyes. She saw Darkrai hovering just overhead, out of reach from most attacks as he stared hard at them in an almost expectant manner, as if trying to determine what they would ultimately do from here. ”I… I th-think we have to f-fight it… W-We either f-fight or leave if what D-Darkrai said is true… and I-I don’t want t-to go back,” she spoke up, taking a breath to try and regain some semblance of composure, ”If D-Darkrai expects us to f-fight this thing, th-then it s-seems we’ll have to… We w-won’t get out of here a-any other way if we d-don’t.” She looked at the beast, then back to her teammates, giving a nod towards them. ”W-We just need to w-work together… l-like we always h-have, right?” she suggested, narrowing her eyes as she stared hard at the nightmarish creature before them, ”W-We’ve come too far to g-give up now, if D-Darkrai wants a f-fight then h-he’s got one f-for sure!” She growled lowly as she put on her best determined face, prepared to jump in and fight. If defeating this thing meant they’d be able to get to Darkrai and beat him to escape this world, the Noivern was willing to take the risk. Even if things looked pretty bad, given that this guardian was surely tougher than anything they’d faced so far, they had an army of Pokemon who were all pushing for a common objective and were armed to the teeth with an arsenal of attacks at their backs. And the bigger they are, the harder they fell… and Piper felt quite confident that this guardian was going to fall pretty hard.】☆ ☆

A new place… Mystery Dungeon Mogwai spies a new friend! Daphnes, Chickpea, Dune, Valoo, Natu
☆ ☆【With Chickpea eagerly clambering down from his arms to explore the new area, Mogwai remained vigilant as they kept pushing onwards up this mountain pass towards whatever awaited them at the peak. He certainly didn’t mind Natu staying atop his head for the journey, she seemed quite content with her new higher vantage point and having an extra pair of eyes on lookout was hardly a bad thing either. The Bewear smiled warmly as Chickpea spoke of never having been on a mountain before as he curiously poked around their new surroundings, but stayed close with the rest of the team as they kept pressing onwards. The sight of the great mountain brought back feelings of nostalgia for the Bewear, it… reminded him a lot of Mount Lanakila back home in Alola. He hadn’t exactly been to that particular mountain before, but with it being the biggest in the region it was certainly hard to miss when looking at it from afar. Still… something about this felt wrong… As much as Mogwai wanted to share in Chickpea’s enthusiasm to explore around this place, he couldn’t help but feel something incredibly ominous in the air. It had been a similar feeling when they had encountered those guardians from before, but this time it felt much different… far more oppressive and sinister than anything they’d encountered before…
Bit by steady bit they trekked their way along the path, Mogwai taking special care to navigate around the areas that were narrower and ensuring that his teammates made their way through with no trouble as well. Daphnes, given his bulk and short legs, was more of a concern since such things would make traversing the narrow areas a bit more difficult, but thankfully the Shelgon was able to manage well enough on his own. Upon passing the final hurdle of their journey, they finally came upon the peak just as a great, booming voice rang through the dusky sky above. Mogwai looked up, ears flattening and fur standing stiffly on end upon seeing the shadowy figure hovering before them as Daphnes inquired if it was indeed him. ”Mooooogwaaaaaiiii thiiiiiink soooooo…” the bear affirmed with a nod, narrowing his eyes as he took in the appearance of the fiend. Surely that had to be Darkrai, right? Given how he was presenting himself and even giving an evil monologue like any villain would, it couldn’t be anything but… The Bewear watched apprehensively as Darkrai proceeded to summon an enormous monstrosity from the depths of the shadows, large enough to dwarf even the biggest Pokemon present as it showed itself to be a horrific abomination composed of a conglomerate of parts taken. Though… Mogwai couldn’t help but blink in mild confusion upon seeing the face that seemed… wildly out of place compared to the rest of it. Even Darkrai seemed somewhat bewildered as the great beast roared, saying something about probably having overdone it a bit. However, the moment was gone as soon as it had come as the villain’s cold, steely demeanor returned and he gave them all an ultimatum, either they leave of their own volition or be forced to do so by his guardian.
As intimidating and scary as the nightmarish creature was just from sheer size alone, any fear that Mogwai might have otherwise had was quickly squashed down as Daphnes’s word rallied him and the others. Right… it was their duty as knights to protect all of those who couldn’t protect themselves. And a knight didn’t turn tail and run even in the face of a much larger and stronger foe! Only cowards and cravens fled at the sight of great danger, and the Bewear was certainly neither of the two! He wasn’t about to let Darkrai or this… thing get in the way of him finding his way back to Aiden, and if fighting was the only way to proceed onwards then so be it. They’d come too far to turn back now, and Mogwai was more than willing to fight if it would put a stop to this fiend’s evil for good, cowardice be damned. ”Moooooogwaaaaaiiii reeeeaaaadyyyyy!” he declared with a bellowing growl, clenching his fists in preparation to engage their new foe. This would surely be one of their toughest battles yet, but the Bewear was willing to take whatever risks if it meant pushing through to escape this world. And with Sire Daphnes, his knight brother in arms, and his companions alongside him, surely they would be able to best even this mighty beast.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【With the conversation gradually petering out for the time being, Fianna mostly focused on the path ahead of them as it seemed they would need to climb their way up the mountain before them. With how very final destination-like this whole scenario seemed, surely they weren’t that much further from finding Darkrai. But the more she thought about how this could potentially be the end of their journey, a heaviness began to settle inside her chest upon realizing that this could be the last she’d see of her companions. Of course, that was if they could manage to succeed and drive Darkrai out from this dream world, and she loathed to think of what might happen if they were to end up falling during the final fight… As she brought this point to bear to her teammates, her sadness only deepened as she looked around at each of them, she hadn’t realized how much she would miss them when all was said and done until they had reached what would surely be the final leg of their journey. Even so, she still managed to muster up a small grin at Daiki’s comment, she made certain to burn each and every one of their names and faces into her mind so that she would never forget them.
Her smile brightened up a touch more as Daiki agreed with her as she expressed her hopes of being able to see them all again, the Zoroark saying that he was usually out of his Pokeball most of the time. She blinked curiously as his eyes lit up with an idea, and he employed his powers of illusion to transform himself into a more human form. A soft laugh left her lips as she took in the sight of his new form as he explained that he usually walked around looking like that. ”Even in human form you’re still a green-haired clown, that’s certainly good to know~” she chipped in with a lightly joking tone, tilting her head somewhat with a hint of what looked like admiration in her eyes, ”I’ll admit it suits you quite well, though, and quite handsome to boot…” She smirked and gave a coy wink, taking in the image of his form and adding the new information to her memory banks. He then changed his appearance once again, taking on the form of yet another male human with dark hair, bright blue eyes, and a kindly smile, explaining that this was what his trainer looked like. ”Ah… He seems like quite a nice young man,” Fianna spoke up, giving a warm smile in return, ”I’m certain he and Phoenix could grow to be good friends if they get the chance to meet… I’ll definitely keep an eye out if we ever find ourselves in Alola someday~” She couldn’t help but envy Daiki’s abilities, otherwise she certainly would’ve shown them what her own trainer looked like to give them a better idea of who to look for if they ran into each other again in the real world. And she doubted the Zoroark would be able to recreate Phoenix’s appearance with only a simple description to go off of… ”Shame I don’t have the power of illusions myself to give a better idea of how my trainer looks… but I will say that she has dark blue eyes and red hair… well, actually I’d say it’s more of an orangish red, like fire,” she explained, humming softly as she reached a hand up and lightly pinched the tip of her ear, ”Oh! And her ears are pointed, kinda like how mine are. Though… she usually hides them, so that might be a bit harder to look for… But they’re very distinct if you do manage to catch a glimpse of them.”

Squinting her eyes a bit, she swore she could make out some kind of massive shape looming over the mountain's peak... but with the perpetually setting sun at its back it was difficult to make out much in terms of details. What... What in the world was that? Whatever it was, it looked to be growing closer and closer the further they climbed up the mountain... and the Braixen couldn't help but feel increasingly uncertain of if she wanted to know the answer to that question. At some point during the journey up the mountain, Luna had climbed back onto Allure's back. The steps had been a bit too high for the eevee, so she was having difficulty climbing them on her own. Even from her vantage point on the spiriake's back, Luna couldn't see much of what was up ahead. The mountain trail was too steep for her to really make out what was going on at the peak. She did hear the booming voice warning the pokemon to leave, which made the young eevee shiver as her ears flattened on her head. "O-oh no... That doesn't sound good..." the small pokemon whimpered, then suddenly yelped and curled up into a fluffy ball as a thundering roar made the mountain shake.
