"I don't know," Kane mumbled back. "Probably not that much longer. But I think I've made up my mind about this future." As they entered the building they noticed that it was made up to be as good as such a run-down building could be.

When they walked into the front room they heared a slightly angry and familiar voice yell, "Where have you been?

The older Kane yelled back, "What's it to you?" in an annoyed tone. "Don't mind him. He's just in a bad mood today." He sat down on a big old couch and motioned for the two boys to take seats as well.

Then, a dark-haired demon walked in looking pissed. "I said where have you been, and seeing that I..." he trailed off when he saw Lan. "Ho ho ho. It's been so long I hardly recognized you." He gave Lan an evil smirk.

"Huh?" The older Kane looked over at the cowering Lan with indifference. "Why not? He feeds me and let's me stay here. What, you know him?"

"Heh heh," the demon chuckled, "you could say that. But there's just one thing that bothers me. How did you ever survive getting dismembered? Don't you remember? How I cut you up as you screamed for mercy?"

Kane looked at the demon with disgust. "You monster! How could you do that!?" With tears in his eyes he drew the sword from his back and lept at the demon. Slicing at him in a frenzy, Kane was actually trying to kill him. As the demon tried to dodge Kane backed him into a corner, andstuck his sword straight into the demon's heart. "Now who's all pretty with blood?" Kane had a crazy look in his eye, his canines resembled fangs, and his eyes were a hateful red. With an insane smiled Kane taunted, "Now how do you think you would look if I cut you up rgith now?"

The older Kane went over to Lan and held his shoulders. "Please, it's alright. I know that you are afraid, but just give him a minute to calm down. I'm sure he'll come to his senses." Standing up and turning around, he went back over to Kane. "Kane! Don't you see what you're doing to Lan!?"

Kane turned his head lok at Lan. When he saw how frightened he was, he calmed down a little. "Lan..."

While Kane's gaurd was dropped, the demon struck at him with long talons. Stabbing him in the heart, the demon said angrily, "If I'm going going to Hell, then you're coming with me." As they both fell to the ground, the shocked expression was frozen on Kane's pale face.

Kane did not move. He felt slightly cold and stiff. His expression was still frozen in painful shock.

The older Kane looked on in horror. 'How could I have let this happen? I should have been able to protect them...' "L-Lan..." but he could not think of anything to say that could possibly make this any better. Instead, he put a hand on Lan's shoulder.

Though the strange whisps ceased to appear, nothing seemed to change in the boy's body. The othe Kane said to Lan, "I'm not sure if there's anything you can do. Fallen angels have Heaven's wrath forever marked on them, and that means it's harder for them to heal too. It would take an emense miracle to bring him back now. Even more than you could muster." Although he hated having to put Lan down even more, he did not want him to have false hope. He tried to think if there was anything he could do, but to no avail. He was useless once more.

Quickly grabbing the sai in Lan's hand, the older Kane said, "Whao there! I can't have you dying on me too!" He took the weapon away and said, "He wouldn't want that, would he?" Just then a light appeared in the midle of the room. "Hey. It looks like you're being called back. I wonder waht they're going to do now that he has no future. Well," he threw the sai through the portal, "I know they won't let you kill yourself at least. You should go now." After standing in silence for a moment, he said regretfully, "I'm sorry that I let this happen. Please, if you blame anyone, blame me."

All of the angels looked up as the neko burst through the gate crying. "What's this?" The oldest angel got up and floated over. "What happned?" he asked as he looked at them curiously.
