...Arcade Fire's 'Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)'

[ - x - ]

Or rather, listening to it, and watching the mystifying and disturbing video intently...

The lyrics are beautiful, and fairly straightforward, but paired with -that- video...it's something else entirely. o_o

I adore it, it's so emotionally charged, but thinking about it is the mental equivalent of being drawn into a whirlpool.

The Mrs has Radio 1 on, so the Arctic Monkeys at the moment. I'm going to put on some Pantera.

Sleeping Sun by Nightwish. But oh holy crap I was at a Dir En Grey concert at Oxford's Carling Academy last night and it was totally zarking awesome! And my first proper rock gig come to that - previous to this it's just been folk and jazz in village theaters.

I WANNA BE THE SURGEON THAT CUTS YOU OPEN,
AND FIXES ALL OF LIFE'S MISTAKES

I WANNA BE THE HOUSE THAT YOU WERE RAISED IN:
THE ONLY PLACE THAT YOU FEEL SAFE

I WANNA BE YOUR SHOWER IN THE MORNING,
THAT WAKES YOU UP AND MAKES YOU CLEAN

I KNOW I'M JUST THE WEATHER AGAINST YOUR WINDOW
AS YOU SLEEP THROUGH A WINTER'S DREAM

SOMETHING'S CHURNING THE EARTH
SOMETHING'S STIRRING THE SKY
EVERY COLOUR AT ONCE IN A COLUMN OF LIGHT
BACTERIA BREED ON A MICROSCOPE SLIDE
THE WORM IN MY HEART'S THE APPLE OF YOUR EYE

DON'T ADORE WHAT IS IMPOSSIBLE
WE HAVE BUILT THIS SHIP IN A WINE BOTTLE
BUT IF YOU KNEW HOW IT WORKED, WE'D HAVE TO GROW OLD

SOMETHING'S EATING AT YOU:
WAKES YOU UP IN THE NIGHT
YOU DIG IN THE PAST;
WHO KNOWS WHAT YOU'LL FIND?
READ THE NEWSPAPER PRINT OFF THE MICROFICHE SLIDE
AND YOU'RE HOLDING YOUR BREATH FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

DON'T YOU LOVE WHAT IS INTANGIBLE?
I HAVE BUILT THIS SHIP IN A WINE BOTTLE
BUT IF YOU KNEW WHO I WAS YOU WOULD NEVER GROW OLD.
