I'm somewhat surprised that GW is using the cover art of a novel for their first new-style 40k codex. But colour me surprised. It's not my cuppa tea, but at least they are getting new swag.

I think this sentiment is a bit silly, as the last few codex books have proven to be extremely competent and competitive creations, especially when the 6th edition was thrown on top, bringing them more in line with what is acceptable.

The new stuff looks pretty good. I'm hoping they'll do as good on the DA stuff.

Though the flyer looks kind of ...necron-y.

XD And as much as I like the cute puppy dog, it looks like a Chaos Space Marine Carnifex.

That last one reassures me (I consider Dark Eldar to be one of best dexes out there) , but at least Grey Knights and Imperial Guard were a little imbalanced in the making, and Necrons, by the virtue of "next edition tailoring" ended up next to them...

Well, I think they might have decided to make something new so they can get sales out of chaos veteran players that may already own such fliers.

It would still require them to design it from the ground up as a plastic kit. Plus it needs to adhere to the design mantra of "more options crammed into one kit" as with the Necron and Ork flyers.

I think the models and lists are specifically for Horus Heresy themed games and not regular games of 40k.

I'm not sure if those restrictions are actually there. Now the Primarchs I can understand, they are more or less a no-go for regular games of 40k, but the actual army lists?
