That would be a good awesome game... though slightly hard to do. I think though, they will have to make it more like the original Dawn of Wars, but at a more massive scale. More of a Apocalypse scale. However, they should allow to you fight at Smaller scale.

it may not work too well for Space marines on that scale, but guardsmen would be good. Possibly Space marines in conjunction with PDF or guardsmen. Just for numbers.

You can actually do Space Marines at a large scale. You have to think, when they commit a Company or two, that is over 300 Emperor's finest. Not including the support they get. Hell, there could be an entire Chapter committed to a fight. Though the Ratio of Space Marines vs like Guardsman is quite big, but still, it is plausible.

I was thinking more like in total war where a single battle could have over 3000 individuals and a strategic map of upwards of half a million.

Not sure if that would work for 40k, it seems more at home with WHFB, something Creative Assembly has a good solid background for. As mentioned, Dawn of War 3 will be the big army game for 40k, going back to its RTS roots found in the first game.

Well, I take some pictures tomorrow. Today turned out to be a god damn s**t show in terms of issues.

First, my windows hard drive failed and I had to get a new HD and format it and toss Windows on it. Now it turns out this windows I was given is only 32 bit, and I need 64. -_-

Though while I was trying to find out what was going on with my computer it turns out my family went herp derp and hit the reset button on the router, so I spent about another 2 hours or so fixing and reseting all of the settings on the router.... Ugh, just been one of those days.

At least, I was able to get my whole army primed, and some very very rudimentary and shitty looking 3 colours on a bunch of units/models. Since the tournament next saturday/sunday requires 3 colours or models are not allowed to be used for play. So, I'm not concerned how ugly they are as when the tourney is over I can take my time, nice and slow to make everything look good and all will be right in the world.

There's more units under construction, but this is my list for the Feb tournament. Painting will be done much better after wards, just trying to get it tournament legal first.

The reason you are imagining it being smaller is because of Platoons. I have none, and Platoons are an easy way to get a large large number of bodies on the table. 6 points per Guardsmen in a Platoon. So, 100 Guardsmen are about 600 points.

I have Veterans, with some upgrades so that they have the 4+ armour save, they have BS 4, they've got 3 special weapons per squad. They are a decent amount more expensive than platoon infantry, but I'll be damned if they're not worth every point.

From what I've seen you have to be careful with IG vet armies though. They can get torn up pretty fast on the field.+

Agreed, IG cannot match the statlines of most other armies without suffering big point penalties.
