Born into the Shakuton clan as the second son and child, Inka Hizara Shakuton has always resented his family heritage ever since a traumatic family incident occurred involving his beloved little sister. Inka was twelve at the time. His family, consisting of his mother, father, older brother, little sister, and he, had traveled to a nearby farming town to establish connections with the local trader there. Inka's brother, Kigahi, was already seventeen years old and a Chuunin in rank, and was arranged to marry the daughter of a wealthy businessman back in the Shinobi Village. Their father was arranging a similar connection for Inka to marry the trader's daughter. The second child had no knowledge that this was his father's intentions, and he was not informed until after the deal had been struck.
Inka was playing in the garden with his little sister Hanabi and trader's daughter Bouka when their father's emerged and told them they were to be wedded sometime that year. Inka would have to give up his training to be a shinobi and take up the merchant's lifestyle instead. Inka would be living with Bouka, to continue her family's traditions, not his own. The second son, frequently accused by his father as being an embarrassment, a disgrace to the clan. Inka's instant reaction to the news was that his father was finally getting rid of him. In an act of defiance and hurt, Inka denied Bouka and took off running, his father's shouts of rage following him, as well as his little Hanabi. Kigahi stayed with his parents, trying to calm his father from his rage.
Inka ran through the village and out into the fields, Hanabi, only ten years old, following him, yelling for him to stop and wait for her the entire way. They had reached the village docks on a river when Kigahi found them. Inka refused to stop, turning on his heel and running the other way, eluding his older brother by ducking under people's feet through the crowded walkway, pushing and shoving the smaller individuals off of their feet. Finally catching his brother, gripping by the neck, Kigahi held on to the kicking, squirming Inka in a mockery of a backwards hug until all the energy had left the younger sibling. Kigahi soothed his sibling, always having cared and protected Inka where he could, even standing up to his father for Inka's sake.
As Kigahi was settling his brother, shouts came from behind them, down by the water's edge. Kigahi ignored them and stayed with his brother. By the time Inka was ready to return to face their father word had reached them on what had happened down by the dock; a little girl's body had been found, a wound on her forehead, knocked unconscious and having fallen into the water. Dread swamped Inka and he rushed to the site, once more pushing through the crowds. A sailor was just emerging from the water, holding the girl up to a kneeling man. Kigahi and Inka held onto the dead body of their little sister until their parents found them, crying on the dock.
Scared of being the one of blame, Inka turned completely rebellious and resentful of his entire clan, accusing it of being useless and a waste. Hanabi was a prodigy in the clan, able to use jutsu that her oldest brother was only just learning. But despite being able to evaporate all of the water from small ponds, Hanabi couldn't swim. Knocked out by heating a crate, she fell behind it and into the water. The cold liquid woke her, but she was already under the surface, and away from sight. Her struggles were in vain and Inka hated himself for it all ever since, taking it out on his father.
After the funeral, Inka stayed on his path to become a ninja, and on the day of his graduation, he announced his renouncement of the clan, completely ignoring all of its principles and skills to follow his own way. The name of Shakuton was then stripped from him, leaving him as being Inka Hizara. It is also Inka's way of running away from the reminders of his failure to protect his little sister. Never will Inka go to his clan, and nor would his clan ever accept him back in. He now resides in a shinobi dorm, exiled from all aid and communication from his family, waiting for his assignment to a squad.
