Alright, you know your Greek Mythology, yes? Well, in the myths, Aphrodite (Venus) was actually married to Haephestus, god of Fire and Blacksmithing. Although she was actually in love with Ares (Mars) and he loved her back, their romance was forbidden and looked down upon. They had to consort in secret, away from the eye of Haephestus, who in actuality, was angry at this betrayal- having already been disfigured by Hera as a youth, Haephestus had much hardship in his life, being banished to the world below a mountain where he worked and forged magical items and weapons. Well, if your life is s**t and your beautiful wife goes off and ******** around with a prettyboy, you'd be pissed off, right? Which is why Venus and Mars met in secret, lest they should suffer wrath at the hands of the Fire god.
