A friend of ours from Japan was sending text messages to me all night on my phone. She just got married and is expecting a baby. She found out yesterday that the baby is a boy. Her and her husband (whom I have not met yet, but my daughter fell in love with when she was in Japan) are on a boat headed for Tokyo to get on a plane to visit us. She will only get to stay a week this time, but I am very excited to see her. She has been to the US at least once a year since we met her 6 years ago. This will be her shortest stay, but since she is now married and expecting her visits will be a lot less. razz

^^^Hey Lil-Jo, glad you're so excited about seeing your friend. As someone who lives away from all my near-and-dear ones, I know how precious those times are. Hope you have a great time, and you never know, you may get to see your friend more often. Once my daughter was born I ended up going home more because she has grandparents and long term friends (therefore adopted aunties) that she needs to know as she grows up.
As a totally random thing though, can anyone help a total emoticon illiterate out... I've always wondered what this thing.. domokun .. is. Is it good, bad, indifferent, or is there any reason for it at all? I'd hate to insult anyone unintentionally (intentionally is a totally different thing though twisted )

domokun For the Domokun cartoon ~ which I've never seen... supposedly he's a gentle soul, so I don't think he's all that insulting. wink
On another note: Bratty made it to level 100 on WordBump! xd

Congratulations, Lil Brat! xd I forget what Level I got to last, but it wasn't anywhere as high as that. whee
Catira - I was scared to use some of the emoticons when I first came here, for the same reason - if you don't know what they stand for, you could easily end up accidentally insulting somebody... blaugh (The one that confused me the most was the "pwned" one in Towns...)

Pretty much sums it up I think. I really cringe when "pwnd" comes up. Guess I've got adult baggage there though, and teens are just.... well, teens!
Congrats on Word Bump Lil Bart, the highest I've reached (before boredom sets in) is 53. *bows to a master* xd

Well... my internet is working again... it was down for a week and a half. You don't really realize how much you use it until it is gone.
Well, not having the net was not so bad because our friends were here from Japan... I wish it would have been a lot longer, but it was wonderful seeing them. Eri is 5 months pregnant and has a cute little belly. Takeo was a wonderful guy, he is so good to Eri and he helped me take care of the baby that is living with us... he had never held that young of a baby before, I told him it would be good practice for his new baby.
I had my daughter try to get them to the airport on friday, what a disaster... to make a long story short, I took them to the airport again today and this time they made it.

Glad you had a good visit Lil-Jo.
Hee hee... I've done that airport thing too. Last time my in-laws visited I forgot about the clocks going forward for summer time, and even though my father-in-law is Mr Punctuality, they missed their flight home. I'm so glad they didn't have to stay another night sweatdrop that would have been cruel punishment well beyond the crime.
It backfired a bit though, coz now when we visit them they have us at the airport about 6 hours before the flight. Not such a bad thing. After a month of staying with them I'd rather spend 4 hours chasing my daughter round the departure lounge and drinking lousey coffee to keep my caffine levels up!

WickedPeaches talk2hand i hate that word, and this 'owned' business neutral i think it all means pretty much the same thing, which is, i'm a teen and i'm going to use dumbass language rolleyes Speaking of which... am I just being true to type as a registered old fart, or is the language used in Gaian announcements "dumbing down" (to coin a phrase I really don't like, but it comes in useful...)? I realise they have to speak in an understandable way to their wide-ranging membership, but it seems to be veering towards the dumbass teen side of the road, from recent examples... rolleyes
