Ai tilted her head up, sniffing the air. This newest floor felt even more ominous than any of the others. Something about the light, or the path. They were still traveling upwards, even after stepping off the stairs. "Something tells me we're nearing the end." They would win, stop this Darkrai, and find a way back to the waking world. She wouldn't accept anything less.
But then... Ai glanced at the others, even saw Vivace in the corner of her eye. Once it was over, they would all wake up separate, like it'd been a dream. Heh. Well it was a dream, technically. Best to use this time now, before they were fighting, in case there was no time once it was over. "I'm glad I met all of you," Ai stated.

What a strange place… Mystery Dungeon Who are you people? Radium, Dotty, Ai, Vivace
☆ ☆【As relieved as Piper felt about how easily they had managed to best that Mega Gengar, the more she thought about it the more it didn’t exactly feel quite right… Even though as a group they had been able to easily overpower a single guardian, one would think that they would’ve instead been swarmed with a group of them rather than just face off against a single one. If these guardians were indeed following Darkrai’s orders in one way or another, surely they would’ve worked together in packs to take down especially large groups of Pokemon passing through much like their own if the intent had been to stop them from reaching Darkrai. There had been more than enough of them coming in in swarms to be able to accomplish that if they so desired, but then why hadn’t they? All of this was just… incredibly bizarre, what exactly was Darkrai’s angle on this by possibly only having one guardian go after each group? The Noivern may say that perhaps Darkrai had underestimated them, but now… she wasn’t so sure of that anymore… A glance out of the corner of her eye, she had a feeling that Ai thought the same as well. Still, she supposed that maybe they’d find an answer to that when they finally found the main villain himself, but for now there wasn’t really much else they could do except for keep going.
Upon reaching the top of the stairs, Piper felt her fur starting to stand on end as it had before when danger was nearby as the ominous atmosphere of the new floor struck her like a ton of bricks. The way opened up to what looked like a mountain path, fairly familiar territory for her as the roost she’d grown up in had been in a cave inside of a mountain. However, the air around here felt… heavier, almost oppressive, and even the sky above appeared to be perpetually set at dusk even though there was still plenty of light for them to see. The path led upwards towards a distant peak, and upon looking closer Piper could swear that the sky above that high point seemed oddly darker than the rest of the area. She nodded in agreement as Ai spoke up, remarking that it seemed like they were nearing the end. ”Y-Yeah… this d-definitely looks very f-final destination-ish,” she said, her eyes tracing along the trail in search of any crossings that might require more caution to pass, ”J-Just be careful… s-some parts may be p-pretty narrow to walk, d-definitely best to avoid f-falling off…” After all they had gone through together, the trials they had overcome together as a team, it seemed that they were finally nearing the end after what felt like a long journey. This was it… They would reach the top of that peak, fight and defeat Darkrai, and return back to the waking world from whence they’d come.
As relieved as Piper was to finally return back to her trainer, a kind of sadness came over her as well as she looked back towards her teammates. Dotty, Ai, Radium, Vivace… each and every one of them had joined this group they had made together out of necessity at first, and over the course of their journey she had come to see them as dear friends. She didn’t want to have to leave them… she wished they would be able to stay together even after they woke up… But their trainers were surely all in separate places, still… she wanted to hold onto a small bit of hope that they’d be able to meet each other again sometime in the future when this was over. She glanced towards Ai as the Espeon spoke up, expressing her sentiment as she told them she was glad to have met them all. ”S-Same… I’m r-really glad to h-have had the opportunity to m-meet you all and g-get to know you… Even if w-we’ve only known each other f-for a short time, I-I’ve come to think of you all as g-good friends…” she spoke up, offering a warm smile towards each of them, ”Even if w-we won’t be together when th-this all ends… I really do h-hope we’ll all be able t-to meet again in the r-real world sometime, even if it m-might not happen in the immediate f-future… Still, no m-matter what happens, I w-won’t ever forget you g-guys, or all of w-what we’ve been through t-together...” Arceus, she felt like she was about to tear up as she finished her little speech, but she hated entertaining the idea that they might not ever see one another again after they woke up from this dream world. However… even if they didn’t, she would always hold their names and faces close to her heart, they were truly an unforgettable group of friends in her eyes. But still, it was best to use what time they had now to say what they wanted to say to each other, in case there’d be no time for them to do so once Darkrai was defeated…
With that said, Piper took in a deep breath, steeling herself for what would surely be coming next as she turned to face the road before them that led to what was surely the final peak they had to reach for their journey to come to its conclusion. ”F-For now… seems w-we still have b-business to t-take care of…” she spoke, ready to get going again as soon as everyone else was. Darkrai ought to hope that he was well prepared, because their team of gal pals and every other group that had been brought here from the real world alongside them were coming for him.】☆ ☆

A new place… Mystery Dungeon Mogwai spies a new friend! Daphnes, Chickpea, Dune, Valoo, Natu
☆ ☆【Mogwai smiled warmly as everyone commented on the strangely empowering smell that Chickpea had employed during their battle, all appearing to be in agreement that it was very useful. He wondered if maybe it would come in handy in their eventual battle against Darkrai, though he had to wonder how strong Darkrai actually was in comparison to all of the guardians they had faced up until now. Considering he was the big bad guy who was responsible for this whole mess, it would make sense that he’d been the toughest fight they’d ever have. But when he was finally defeated, they would be able to go back to their trainers again… Still, Mogwai felt a kind of sadness come over him at the thought, would going back to the real world mean that he wouldn’t see Daphnes, Chickpea, Dune, or their friends again? He wanted to hold on to that hope that he would get to see Temperance at some point in the future, and maybe he would see Daphnes again as well. Though… he wasn’t sure who Chickpea and Dune’s trainers were or what they were like, but he really hoped that they were nice as well!
Distracting himself from those sad thoughts, Mogwai turned his attention to Valoo who seemed quite proud as the Bewear remarked on how strong he was to take on that Gengar by himself. The Charmander said he had been in tougher fights before, the bear’s eyes widening in awe as he smiled excitedly. ”Vaaaaaalooooo muuuuuust beeeeee veeeeeeryyyyy stroooooong!” he spoke earnestly, ears flicking enthusiastically, ”Vaaaaaloooooo maaaaayyyybeeee stroooooong aaaaaas Mooooooogwaaaaaiiiii!” Of course, it was possible that the lizard was lying again, though Mogwai didn’t really seem to care as he was happy enough to entertain the idea. Even so, it didn’t seem like Valoo even had a scratch on him even after a fight with such a tough enemy, so that had to mean he was pretty strong to some capacity, right? At his question of Valoo joining them in their fight against Darkrai, the lizard seemed more than happy to lend a helping hand, remarking that he wanted to take a long nap but that big bad villain was messing up his sleeping schedule. ”Mmmmmm… Naaaaaps gooooood,” Mogwai agreed with a nod, a nice, long nap admittedly sounded quite nice when they finally got out of here, ”Weeeee beeeeeaaaaat biiiiig baaaaaad guuuuuyyyy dooooown! Kniiiiiiights beeeeeaaaat eeeeeeeviiiiiil!” Darkrai would sure be in for a rude awakening once they finally found out where he was hiding out at.
Speaking of which… as they finally reached the top of the stairs, Mogwai glanced up at the path before them to see a long, winding trail leading up a mountain towards the peak in the distance. The sky above seemed perpetually dusky, though there was still enough light coming in for them to be able to see clearly. At the peak of the mountain, the Bewear could swear that the sky above that particular point seemed darker than the rest of the sky… Was that perhaps a sign that Darkrai was near? The Bewear glanced towards Dune as the Dunsparce spoke up, asking if this had to be almost the end that they were at. ”Hmmmmmmm… Mooooooogwaaaaaiiii thiiiiiink soooooo…” he agreed with a nod, narrowing his eyes slightly as he looked back up to direct a hard stare at the peak. Either Darkrai or another set of stairs to yet another floor would be waiting for them when they reached that point, though given the almost oppressively ominous atmosphere this place in particular was giving off Mogwai was almost certain it was Darkrai they would find up there…
Turning his attention to Chickpea, the Bewear stared at the little grass dinosaur in his arms with a sort of sad smile before pulling him into another gentle hug. ”Chiiiiickpeeeeeaaaaa waaaaant waaaaaaalk?” Mogwai asked, holding onto the embrace for a good several moments longer this time before moving to bend down and place Chickpea back on the ground if he wanted. The mountain path before them looked fairly straightforward, though the Bewear could pick out some particularly narrow spots here and there that would require a bit more caution to traverse. Of course, he was sure that the Chikorita would be able to take care of himself just fine, but he certainly wouldn’t be against carrying Chickpea for a bit longer so that he wouldn’t worry about possibly falling if he made an accidental misstep on a particularly hazardous area of the path.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【With the path opened up to the group after the Mega Gengar had been well and thoroughly defeated, Fianna was ready to keep moving forward. However, she frowned upon noticing a kind of spat going on between Daiki and the Medicham who had recently joined their group, aforementioned Fighting-type seeming to reprimand the Zoroark for his recklessness in battle and brought up his apparent lack of focus. Of course, Daiki didn’t take very kindly to it, though the Medicham seemed unimpressed with his attempts to fight back and simply headed for the stairs without another word. Sighing softly and shaking her head a little at the exchange, the Braixen felt she should check up on the Zoroark as she moved closer towards him. She gave a soft smile and nodded as he said he was alright, her expression brightening somewhat as he was amused by her remark about having to take a rain check on the kiss of life they’d talked about earlier. She chuckled as he gave a sly smirk back, saying that he knew she’d been looking forward to it but it seemed she’d just have to wait now. ”Well damn,” she said with a sigh, feigning disappointment as she folded her arms and puffed out her cheeks in a pouting expression, ”But sure, I suppose I don’t mind waiting a little longer. The buildup just makes the payoff that much better, yeah?” Her mock defeated expression was quickly replaced with that coy, playful smirk as she spoke that last part, though it hardly lasted for long as she brought up the matter at hand. Seeing Daiki suddenly collapse out there like that was certainly… concerning, to say the least. The Zoroark looked away, scratching his neck in a sheepish manner as he apologized, saying that he had sort of blacked out back there. Fianna blew out a breath, worrying a bit at her lower lip as she gently nudged him. ”Jeez… You know, I really do worry about you sometimes, you big dummy…” she murmured, her tone hushed and gentle as she looked to him. Even the little insult she slipped in at the end didn’t hold any malicious bite to it, just the same kind of genuine concern as the rest of her words had.
She glanced over towards where the Medicham was walking towards the stairs, unable to help but feel a spark of annoyance flare up in her. The way he had spoken to Daiki just came off as very judgmental and perhaps a little patronizing to her, which she really didn’t care for given that the Zoroark seemed to respond best to support and encouragement. But still… as much as she didn’t want to agree the Medicham admittedly did have a point that Daiki needed to work on focusing his power. Still, it could’ve been put in a much better way than just coming off as condescending and reprimanding… Though she couldn’t help but wonder if maybe part of that had to do with how they had ended up meeting each other… But for now, they should focus on moving forward as she beckoned for Daiki to walk with her, her eyes darting over occasionally to keep a close eye on Xiao Lan as they made for the stairs.
Turning her attention to the Zoroark again, she felt it was best to offer a bit more encouragement, gently taking hold of his hand as she assured him that sharpening his focus was just another thing he’d need to practice on. She chuckled under her breath as he bashfully looked away, stammering a bit as he agreed with her on that notion. Her eyes looked back towards the Medicham ahead of them as they ascended the stairs, then back to Daiki again. ”Hmmmm…” she hummed softly to herself, the corner of her lips quirking into a thoughtful expression, ”If you don’t mind me asking, how exactly did you find him?” As much as she didn’t want to pry into matters that probably were best left alone, a part of her couldn’t help but want to satisfy that curiosity since it had seemed Daiki and their new Medicham comrade hadn’t exactly met under the best circumstances. Still, if the Zoroark really didn’t want to talk about it, she wouldn’t push him to answer. Sometimes it was better to not ask questions you might not want the answer to, after all.】☆ ☆

Argo, though he was the one gifted with flight in this group, still remained relatively close. There was something about the new scenery that seemed kind of eerie, though. As if there was something big waiting at the top, and Argo was not about to find out what it was all by himself.
