We just spoke with the vet, they said that Fred is calm and resting well, and his absess is draining well. I didn't find out how his blood work is coming along, but they may not have done it again yet.

what a pretty kitty Fred is! heart I think he'll be just fine. It's good news that he is responding to treatment so quickly. My old vet always said that cats are amazingly durable animals. He had had cases of cats that were so sick and messed up that he didn't think they's last 15 minutes, but come the next morning you could hardly tell they'd been sick. do he'll be fine.

Well... this morning I transported Fred from the Emergency vet to our regular vet. I talked to them about an hour ago and they had just gotten done checking his blood again. His blood counts are almost back to normal, which means he will be able to have his surgery tomorrow. We will not know if the counts will stay ok until he is off the IV and the meds he is on. Then we will know if his kidneys will function again. It did sound good when I talked to the vet and Fred is in pretty good spirits (except for hating the cone collar around his neck. He begs for attention from anyone that comes close to his kennel. He is now officially the most expensive cat I have ever had.

Hello....
Fred is doing a lot better, I will be taking his stitches out after work tonight, then I need to take some time off work to get his blood checked again.

Well... I pulled out 13 stitches, he layed back and let me do it without any problems... if it was my Jo-Jo that had to have it done I would have been ripped to shreads. I rubbed his stitch line and he just layed there and purred... Fred is the sweetest cat ever...

eek Remind me again, Lil Jo - how come you had to pull the stitches out of your cat yourself? Why not the vet? eek

Harbone eek Remind me again, Lil Jo - how come you had to pull the stitches out of your cat yourself? Why not the vet? eek Well... the vet seems to think that the hours they are open work for anyone... but being someone that works during the day, I leave before they are open and get home after they close... and they do not have weekend hours... I have taken a few days off work for the things that have happened with Fred so far and since I have had medical training and have taken many stitches out of 2 and 4 legged creatures I had no issues doing it with Fred...
