Well a couple things to babble about...

I'm really zoned out (have been for like two weeks...sedated I mean...sleep deprived non-drug related sedated I mean)...so I don't have enough patience or actively awake braincells currently to go through the other music lists so here's my contribution (sorry if I add anything already mentioned)...

Oh and the other thing...not sure what genre/music style you're going for...if any...and some of these are oldies...okay...so here I go...

She Wants Revenge (New wave, Acid)
U2 (Brit Pop)
Johnny Hollow (Ambient)
Die Mannequin (Rock)
The Cure (Dark wave)
The Doors (Rock)
VNV Nation (Industrial)
Zombie Girl (Industrial)
Van Morrison (Jazz)
Eric Clapton (Blues)
Emma Lee (Blues)
Matt Dusk (Jazz)
Green Day (Grunge)
Nirvana (Grunge)
Hole (Grunge)
Shiny Toy Guns (Brit Pop)
Bjork (um, not sure...but still REALLY KICKASS GOOD)

....So there's a short list...I could really go on till I can't add anymore...but I won't.

I don't believe I've seen anyone list Boards of Canada yet. I highly recommend any of their albums. They might be listed as experimental, post rock, soundscapes. Really good. No vocals.

Some other bands/artists I failed to see [I bolded the ones I was surprised weren't listed]:

- A Fine Frenzy [one girl, beautiful voice]

- A Silver Mt. Zion [similar to Boards, some speaking parts, long songs]

- Air [French electronic duo]

- Alela Diane [folk]

- Alizée [French pop singer; super cute a**; catchy music]

- Arcade Fire [I believe wikipedia lists them as 'indie'; they're good]

- ATB [trance]

- Audrye Sessions [great indie band I was introduced to when I saw Manchester Orchestra; I think they're better live, but they're amazing]

- Aural Vampire [amazing electro/darkwave duo from Japan]

- Beirut [world folk; surprisingly they're from America]

- Benny Benassi [super awesome Italian dj; house]

- The Black Mages [if you like Final Fantasy, this is Nobuo Uematsu's band; they just cover Final Fantasy tracks in a metal way]

- bond [electric string quartet; modernizes classical pieces]

- Capsule [another Japanese electronic duo]

- Cascada [German eurodance artist; sings in English]

- Clara Rockmore [theremin artist]

- Cosmic Gate [German trance duo]

- Crystal Castles [Canadian experimental electronic duo; sounds like old school video game stuff; slighly screamo vocals]

- Devendra Banhart [American artist; mostly classified as folk - video for the song "Carmensita" stars Natalie Portman]

- E Nomine [German; coined genre as "monumental dance" which incorporates techno/trance and Gregorian singing and chanting]

- Emilíana Torrini [from Iceland; considered pop]

- Epica [similar in style to Within Temptation and Nightwish; gorgeous redhead vocalist]

- Explosions in the Sky [similar to Boards and A Silver Mt. Zion; also long songs]

- Feindflug [electronic German group]

- Felix da Housecat [dj, house]

- The Flaming Lips [alternative rock; been around a long time; highly recommend the album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots]

- Florence + the Machine [indie pop; alt rock; just know that she's amazing; great vocals; great legs; great to sing along]

- The Frames [if you saw the movie Once, this is the main character's band in real life; really good soft indie rock]

- Friendly Fires [I don't listen to them much but they're catchy]

- Frou Frou [sadly disbanded English electro duo]

- Godspeed You! Black Emperor [another like Boards/Explosions/Mt. Zion - super long songs]

- Gregory and the Hawk [really cute indie shtuff]

- Harry and the Potters [lulzy Harry Potter songs]

- The Hippos [good ol' ska]

- Icon of Coil [electronic group from Norway lol]

- Ingrid Michaelson [she's kinda popular; cute stuff]

- Iron & Wine [one guy; great folk tunes]

- Kate Miller-Heidke [Australian pop singer; classically trained; great range]

- La Roux [electro/synthpop]

- Maduro [electribal]

- Manchester Orchestra [indie rock; really good live]

- Mediaeval Baebes [classical, a capella woman's group; really good]

- Metronomy [electropop; kinda remind me of Freezpop a little]

- Mika [pop singer]

- mind.in.a.box [futurepop according to wikipedia lol; Austrian duo; really dark and cold sound]

- Moonsorrow [Finnish viking metal; it rules]

- múm [Icelandic experimental group]

- The Polyphonic Spree [describe themselves as "choral symphonic rock"; did the soundtrack for Thumbsucker]

- Sarah Blasko [indie rock/pop; really unique voice]

- Sigur Rós [Icelandic post-rock/dream pop; similar to múm]

- Slim Whitman [super old school country singer; love this guy so much]

- Sondre Lerche [Norweigian indie pop/rock singer; did the soundtrack to Dan in Real Life]

- Sophie Ellis-Bextor [British pop singer; really catchy stuff]

- T.Rex [70's glam rock band - 'nuff said]

- Team Sleep [if you like Deftones this is Chino's side project]

- To/Die/For [Finnish; wiki says "gothic metal"; I'd say it's more synth goth? they kinda sound really 80's]

- Uffie [electro rap gangsta ho; lol no idea but she's cute and fun to listen to]

- Unheilig [sounds similar to Rammstein; name means Unholy; classified as Neue Deutsche Härte]

- Vanessa Mae [one woman bond-like show; electric violin - modernizing classical pieces and a few original pieces]

- The Weepies [pop-folk; their songs make me want to curl up with a coffee]

- YADE [industrial artist; you just have to listen to him]

So that's my list of bands that weren't already mentioned. I have all the music of all the artists I listed, so if you want any of it let me know in a PM, and I'll get it to you.
