I'm not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but characterdesigns.com is very good for references.

Note: Do not link to nude photos anywhere in this guild. Please use common sense as well as read the rules here and on gaia. We're not trying to have the guild deleted for breaking tos. I was curious if I could add a book to the recommended list?
It's called Making Comics by Scott McCloud. It's not like normal "how-to-draw-comics" books as it doesn't teach a certain style, but it shows some ways to approach body gesture, emotions, creating believeable characters, and building worlds for your characters instead of "backgrounds" which are no more than backdrops put up as an afterthought. I absolutely love this book, and I would recommend it for anyone who wants to do comics, or just love comics in general heart
