Well...The art and the story are both quite important smile

you know, that's a hard question for me sweatdrop in reality, if i don't get attracted by the art, most likely i'll let it down not sure if you can call that shallow or not but either way if the story is going no where or it doesn't have the neccessary stuff i look for in a good yaoi storyline then i'll leave it alone as well. So in my opinion i think both are neccessary for a good yaoi anime or manga.

Both. If the story sucks, I won't waste my money and time on it-- if I want to read a badly-written, cliched mess, I can go find some bad fanfiction. If the art isn't up to my standards, I won't bother with it, either-- I mean, sometimes it's just ugly, and then I can't enjoy the story as much. neutral
I'm an art and a writing snob, I'm afraid. xd (Though I can't produce either to save my life. sad )

I love a good story as much as the next person, but to be honest, the story can be absolutely wonderful, but if the art is crap, I won't really be paying attention to that aspect. If the art is wonderful, but the story sucks, then I'm really just looking at the wonderful pictures. Just like in the poll, I think you can't have one without the other. If the art doesn't really matter to you, then just buy a yaoi novel, then you don't have to worry about it! XD!

I'm leaning a bit in favor of art at the moment. I expect the story to be good regardless because if the story isn't there from the beginning, I'm not going to waste my time on something.
However I'm am finding myself being far more forgiving when a series does something I normally won't like in terms of the plot if the art is exceptional... stuff like having an ending I hate, excessive plot holes, having content that makes me feel that I really need to keep my family in the dark about me reading it, or killing off my favorite character. >.<

Kinda both. I only let bad art slip if it's a unbelivably good story.

Both are pretty importaint.
A good script is the key to getting the reader hooked, but you need to be able to draw what it is that's happening.

I think both are important though as long as there is a good story i'll read it even if the art isn't the best.

Both. Unlike many people here, if a manga has bad art, I will not read it. If it has a bad story line, I might still read it...unless it's a long series--usually those take longer to figure out whether they're bad or not, but if the art is bad I simply won't have the patience to find out if the story's good or not, even if someone else tries to get me to read it. My rule of thumb is, if I could draw it better, then I probably wouldn't want to read it. I'd keep getting distracted by the bad art.

okay I love to read right so even if a book has a crap cover art work and the plot and writing style is shiznit I love it
in terms of manga and even anime i think both should be good since the do place some focus on visual communication,
but if the art work isn't so great but the story is good then i personally don't mind
but...if the story sucks like horribly then the art work for me isn't the saving grace its would be "yeah i like how that perosn looks * saves picture*" and that's that art work can't always save a really badly made-up anime or manga........in my opinion
