[~Lam~] flip.renegade >w< I want to be a linguist and an Asian language specialist so I'm learning Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Tagalog >w< Why do you guys want to learn? That's one of my goals as well. But I need to fully master the languages, I either need to master Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, and Tagalog or I have to learn all the dialects of Chinese... I'm about halfway there... Tagalog, Chinese and English were my first three languages. Then I took Spanish and now I'm in Japanese.
And you're amazing!!!! I'm taking spanish too and it bores the heck out of me xP I'm not too found of European languages... maybe German but that's the extent. But Spanish is helping me a lot with Tagalog ^.^

If I do master all the asian languages, I want to Learn Italian and Latin, then French... I tried Greman... Didn't find much interest in it...
European langauges aren't that interesting but I want to be able to speak in more languages...
Maybe even Indian and Arabic... Hmm...
Spanish is a difficult language to learn but they all think its easy unlike Japanese which is an easier language to learn which I've found out.. XD

For me, Spanish is a very easy language and it gets so dull for me (that's why I can't stand it) but I dont know, I just get bored with it. I have a lot more fun with Japanese ^.^

You're like my twin. rofl Spanish is useful for those people planning on learning Tagalog or other Filipino dialects, especially Ilonggo/Hiligaynon. Although one could argue that it's not even necessary to learn any Filipino languages because 99% of the people speak English there, anway. One thing nobody mentioned is French, though: if you know French, you can basically go ANYWHERE in Europe or Quebec province and be understood, and if you go to Cambodia, they speak French, too, so you don't have to know Cambodian.
It goes like this: if you know only the following languages, you can get around in most places of the world.
English (US, Canada, Ireland, UK, South Africa, Philippines, Australia) Spanish (Philippines, Latin America and South America, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Italy) French (Canada, Europe, Cambodia) Mandarin Chinese (China, Taiwan, Japan if you write whatever you want to say with Chinese characters/Japanese kanji, possibly Thailand) Katakana syllabary of Japanese (for people planning to tour Japan, knowledge of Katakana will greatly enhance the experience)
And since this thread is supposed to be about Japanese, go and learn Japanese for the heck of it, too. razz
