If she would have seen the fear in his eyes, maybe she would have hesitated. Maybe there would have been some gravity to the situation, a grounding feature that would have held her back. She didn't see him though, she just saw eyes and eyes and eyes.

"S'my fault." Her voice sounded like rust on a cold winter day. "I can't do nothin'."

In the back of his mind, he knew he probably shouldn't be charging at a gigantic tentacle monster, but here he was anyway. It took every ounce of willpower not to look back for Jamie. He had to trust him, had to trust he'd be okay, couldn't falter—god for ******** bid he died here, then everyone would be really ********.

Realistically, he was glad that Daws had his back, but he also silently wished he would've gone with Jamie instead. Whatever; what was decided was decided.

At least he had his fists. Shiloh didn't even ******** hesitate to punch the b*****d in one of its eyes, thorns curled around his fists like organic brass knuckles. Contact was made, and his vision clouded. He wasn't looking at All-Seeing, but at himself, battered and broken and bleeding out onto the ground. He failed. He failed.

Beel was behind him, "So much for that." He said with ample disregard, "Told you so."

Reality was splitting at the seems, things were crumbling and rotting, the magic was leaking out again. Where was Jamie? Oliver? Beel opened his mouth again, "They're—"

He gasped and snapped back from the vision, eyes fluttering as his focus came back into clarity. b*****d.

"How's Jamie?" He didn't trust himself to look back, so he spoke to Daws instead, "How're you?" Flowers were starting to flourish up his leg in congregated circles, matching the spaces where All-Seeing had him gripped. At his knuckles—as they were bleeding softly—were a thin layer of moss, tiny little clovers, little yellow buds hiding behind the thorns.

Jeremiah was not relenting, moving from one eye to another, because he was tired of this kind of stuff happening. He moved towards another eye, intent to see more of them go out and put an end to this.

As his fingers clenched, he let out a sharp breath. "No nicknames. No precious. No snowflake. Not tonight." Jeremiah's grip loosened, something snapping briefly before he pushed past the vision. It was fine, they were fine, what was not fine was what this thing was doing.

"For what it's worth, I can get him to the hospital quickly after this! Though there should people here at some point." Jeremiah called over his shoulder towards the fetch - Temperance - and Shun.

Following Chester's third smack to the creature's weird and hazy hide, he began to realize that between the pictures it was creating in his mind and the general energy he was expending to hit it, he was noticeably beginning to tire. He backed off a bit. aiming to assess how everyone else was faring, but it really didn't take long to see that the eyes were the spots to smack for maximum effectiveness. Chester ran forward again, jumping at the last second and aiming his fingers at a bright purple one, its pupil made of a scattering of dark dots.

Unlike his other two All-Seeing-induced visions, which had been little more than flashes, this time Chester's world shifted far more abruptly than even the void had managed, depositing him in a new place, one that felt real from the warm breeze wafting past to the grass under his Keds.

He was alone in a field on a lovely spring day, and he was powerless.

Chester knew there was more to this world, more pain and disappointment, but he couldn't get past the simplest change. He'd had a plan as he'd watched the sigil form, but since he'd returned he had been too distracted by the differences in this new world to act on it. He'd still had every intention to grow and progress i his own time. But now it was too late.

He took a couple of steps back and stood still, lost in his hopeless vision.

It took Dawson a moment to answer, mostly due to the mild chaos within the storm that had happened for the fighters' particular rebellion. One of the po-pos were down, for one. For another, apparently making those eyes go gray was good? Maybe he would be doing better trying to attack himself, but Dawson had already cemented his role and was too stubborn to risk it.

Plus, it was really, really starting to hurt. One of the tentacles had nearly pulled him off his feet in his bid to keep Shiloh safe, and now he too sported suction cup-like marks that gave him the shivers. On top of those were the bruises and a nearly dislocated shoulder.

Nonetheless, he wheezed, "I'm good," with the nonchalant smile he shouldn't have been able to wear. "Yer friend..." He watched Jamie try to boxkick with that rabbity foot. "I think...he's okay? Weres gotta...be made of some stuff, right?"

Just as Shiloh was, clearly. The flowers were basically like his blood from the looks of it. Dawson couldn't help his curious looks mid-battle.

"I don't believe that." Maybe that didn't matter. It might have sounded flimsy, given the current state of affairs. He wished he could trade whatever magic was in him for that singular ability to stop her.

"D'you want back up?"

Well, Jeremiah did have a point there. The chief did have a way of getting around rather quickly from what had seen.

Carefully, he turned to look around, trying to keep his eye movements steady. There was a bunch of broken s**t on the ground. He went ahead and picked up a chunk of wood before moving forward and flinging it at All Seeing as hard as he could.

He was in the archives, feeling his own shadowed blade being forcefully shoved into his chest. The price of failure.

D'you want back up?

The words feel far away as blood rings in her ears. Humans, magic or not, possess some ancient alchemy in their adrenaline; it turns fear into courage even if only a moment. Bravery wasn't the absence of fear, but the ability to continue on even with it.

Chel is done feeling powerless to magic. Even as All-Seeing plagues her mind with the field of flowers she once visited, she continues to walk forward. She sees the cave too, the soft whisper of a future unfettered by cages. Her insecurity is laid on the table, that which she's had tickling her mind for the past two months- no, for the past twenty-two years. Chel takes a step forward and lurches onto Jack for a moment, but keeps going because its her ******** fault, it always is. Like so many things in her life, she should have cut ties with it long before. But Chel always keeps going and keeps pushing until she's ruined everything. At least she can pay the price for this one.

It's time to say no, ******** you Other Ashdown in true Chel fashion. Magic is going to be her ******** b***h this time. No more pouring into sigils she doesn't understand, or listening to the court make choices for her. Chel will always be afraid of magic, but being afraid and being helpless are two separate emotions. They create different actions, like how the sun casts different shadows depending on where it shines.

User Image

Her emotion takes form in her magic, and she pulls a bow and arrow from the blood on her arm that drips down her leg and forms a red ribbon of destiny from her to All-Seeing. She is art incarnate, and magic is hers to wield.

In true magical girl fashion (because that is, in fact, what Chel is. Magical and a girl), she shoots one arrow that explodes from the tips of her bow with a black shadowy trail. It isn't All-Seeing's magic any longer, it's hers. She's giving him one hell of an eviction notice. It's a dark magic and no one can argue that it's nature is good but it's Chel's magic.

The energy cracks through the air and sounds like lightning. That's Chel she isn't a brilliant storm like America or a dark shadow like Shun. She's a crack of lightning; a moment of brilliance that will later fade in memory.

It snaps through All-Seeing's form and singes a line down his form that leaves smoke in its wake. Magic turned against its user is a terrible thing, and Chel intends to wreak havoc.

Something shot past Shun. He stepped back and looked to see what the hell that was, only to see Chel standing further back with a dark bow of sorts. He tilted his head, then turned his attention back to All Seeing. No time for distractions.

"********' FANCY!" Preacher hollered towards Chel, then winced and, panting a little, pressed her hand back to her side. People had this. She couldn't do much more, although she summoned enough gumption to kick a piece of wood at the creature. ******** off, eyeball monster. She wondered if she could draw up a sigil to do something.

It was always like Chel to fight back. So somehow, even as his eyes widened at the sight of the bow's appearance, In the back of his mind Jack wasn't surprised. Retaliating against All-Seeing with its own magic was just very...her.

But that didn't mean she could keep going with it. Seconds after the arrow was fired, he physically urged her to at least find cover. "Don't kill yourself," he told her, the fear gone and replaced with an anxious yet fierce threat. "That thing isn't worth it."

Shun's advice was needed. Letting Chel go, Jack picked out a smaller eyestalk to attack and had at it. Magic didn't power him in battle, but his fists had been useful enough in the past.

Not that it mattered. This wouldn't work, and even if it did, Omma's word was law. He would be gone soon enough from Ashdown, and whatever happened there would never resolve. If the world slowly melted away into whatever veil they had visited, chaos reigning and magic gone awry, he'd be powerless to it all. Uninformed. Alone.

All-Seeing was overwhelmed. Between a devastating arrow attack disrupting its magic and countless exhausted eyes, it was drooping like a bent flower and oozing a blackish ichor from its eyestalks.

Jack's final blow seemed to land in a way that finally ended the creature's miserable life. Shadows swelled inwards and the creature's skin bubbled until it burst, spreading waves of energy outwards.

The shadowy liquid leftover began draining back into Chel's spilt blood like a slow, clogged sink. Eyes dropped all around the square, grey and loamy after such a beating but still humming with power. Evidence of All-Seeing was beginning to disappear, just as the Ashdown Police main forces began to arrive. It would seem the evil had been quelled, though the cliche question rang cliche for a reason: safe for how long?

Quote:
THE BATTLE IS OVER ...

Though the damage has been done, it would seem All-Seeing has been defeated. If you wish, you can have your character take one (or end up with one) of All-Seeing's now-dormant eyes. The eye now seems to be made of glass or some other hard, transparent material rather than living tissues. Doing so will grant you the following power:

All Seeing: While carrying one of All-Seeing's eyes, your own eyesight is a bit better than average and can see further than a normal human's could.

"Yeah, yeah, you're right. He's tough." He believed wholeheartedly in Jamie and his abilities, but he couldn't help the slight concern. This was his best friend—no—boyfriend after all, and he wouldn't be able to live himself down if he got drastically hurt.

Except there's something that almost sounds like a bolt of lightning; an arrow whizzes past and splits the monstrous mass in half. If demons could scream, Shiloh was sure he'd hear it, but even then he felt the shatter deep in the aching strain of his muscles.

"Daws...?" He didn't look at him, but he took a step back and covered his head instinctively. "Did you see that? What—"

It was the first time he'd seen Chel, noticed her, was vaguely aware that the thing was dripping out of her, except now it was melting and fading and dwindling away into the bloody massacre left over. Vaguely, he heard sirens approaching in the distance. "W-We should—we gotta get out of here." His eyes were wide still with the rush of adrenaline, arms shaking and breaths coming out in quick puffs, "I don't want the cops to know I'm magic. They can't know." He sucked in a quick breath.

"Jamie! Over here!" He called out to him, "We gotta get the ******** outta' dodge!" And turning back to Daws he added, "How hurt're you? You gonna be okay? Come on."

Except, as he started to catch up to Jamie, he ended up stumbling on a lone eye that had rolled its way across the park lawn. Why was the rest of the beast melting, but not the eyes? Things of the Otherworld tended to have specific properties, and while he wasn't about invoking evil into Jamie's house he quickly stooped to pick it up anyway.

Jeremiah watches as Chel takes a stand, as she rips All-Seeing a new one, and it is impressive. The last blow that Jack strikes and then it oozes away, shadows that race back to the young woman they had spawned from.

As the sirens are heard, his attention flicks to Shun, whom he is going to get to the hospital in a few breaths and then to Jack and Chel.

"Get her out of here," he says in a quiet breath, turning towards the sirens and leaning down to pick up an eyeball that had rolled towards him. The pupil was an odd opalescent color and the entire thing glittered in his vision.

It was magic. Perhaps something to inspect later. For now he is turning towards Shun, to help him and to talk with the police that are arriving. Still, there is worry in the back of his mind - about Chel, about Shun, about the people that were injured and dead, about - but it is pushed away as he approaches Shun.

The sirens were close, paramedics on the way, and there would be work to do. Never a moment's peace, not for anyone that was involved with other ashdown and especially for the Chief of Police.

All Seeing was gone. All that were left were its eyes.

Shun stared down at the things that were littered around. He could hear sirens blaring in the distance. The fight was over with. Now it was time to deal with the fallout.

All of it.

He let out a breath as he saw Jeremiah approach him, bringing his hand back up over his left eye.

"Time to get going."
