Bao Yu watched as Ying clapped her hands and started writing on the board. When she saw her name being written next to a Salbei, she wasn't sure how to feel about that. Well.. surprised, excited? Maybe. More like apprehensive. She honestly had no idea who that was, but she reserved judgement until she talked to the stallion. Pushing her glasses up on her face, she tried to figure out which one Salbei was. Maybe paying attention would have helped her in this situation.
Ah, well. Thus is life.
"Who is Salbei?" She said out loud, pondering. A sleeve clad hand came up to her chin, trying to look at the ponies. It was almost as if she was expecting him to just leap up and say 'oh that's me' or something along those lines.

There was time enough inbetween all the sewing and pinning and the primping of outfits for a small break for the horseboil. It wasn't as if the dress shirt was going to run away anytime soon, and frankly, he was sure some time away from it would be good. Fresh eyes to look and assess and whatnot.
The tea break was calming, white tea was something that the embroider was glad to partake in as he watched his older sister put up the fruits of her labor. There was a time where he thought she was going to take up the art of becoming a matchmaker.
There was also that time when he thought she was going to become a mama-san. one of those people who was the main proprietor of a courtesan house. But that was a short lived idea, one that had a mighty strike to the noggin to help get rid of the idea.
"I'm so glad to see that you have come to a decision on your matchmaking sister." he chided in, walking up to the shorter ghoul and resting his cup on the crown of her head. It always meant that those who were interested in her matches, had a higher chance of purchasing some of their work, normally for the event at hand, hence the assortment of corsages and shawls that donned their cart. The smile on his face was easygoing, carefree and it whittled away, slowly at first as he drank in the list and what it meant, especially at one line that caught his attention.
"Ying." the word was stressed, akin to the tone of someone who just got caught putting their hand in the cookie jar before dinner was served."What is the meaning of this?"
He knew what it meant. At the same time, he did not want to believe it.
The shoe was on the other foot, his sister was testing his honor.

Na'ima thought nothing of the fact that she had not been paired up with her Mentor. This was a good thing! A matchmaker did not simply match mares up with stallions they were already familiar with. She found her name on the list, gasping with delight when she saw she had not one but two Stallions.
She hoped it was two Stallions.
"Look," Na'ima chuckled and playfully nudged Salbei. "I have two dates. I'm the luckiest mare alive." And to see a name she recognized? Oh, she was so pleased. She heard a voice call out Salbei's name and she looked up with a grin, gesturing to the Conquest female looking for him. "I believe that is Bao Yu." She pat his arm. "You be good now."
Now, where was Mmur and this 'Jing'? Na'ima wandered off, her jewelry clinking and jingling together with each step in search of the Famine Stallion and her second date.

Ying just stared back at Jing, very innocently setting the chalk down and wiping her hands free of the dust and free of the problems. She thought she'd actually done very well, especially considering she had no proper training.
It was true, Ying considered herself a bit of a matchmaker. Did she want her brother to be happy? Of course! And what way to make him happier than to give him as many options as possible? Both male and female- he would have his choice!
"What ever do you mean, dear brother?" she chimed innocently. How could you be mad with a face like that?

Mmur watched Ying's hand as she connected the gathered horsemen's names in neat pairs. He waited for his own Line of Matchmaking patiently at first, but when he wasn't one of the first two singled out, he shifted his weight, crossed his arms, and frowned moodily. When he didn't get paired in the second set, he huffed a sharp breath out of his nostrils and shook his head. Finally, as she pressed the chalk to the end of his name, time crept to a crawl, the rest of the line appearing far too slowly to suit. He was about to jump forward and throttle the Conquest mare when she completed it, attaching his name to... Na'ima? He found the Sage in the crowd, his grin appearing too quickly for him to properly hide his delight. He knew he should be respectfully subdued in the presence of his superiors, but surely she would forgive him. He had gotten out of practice at true subservience since their homeland had been destroyed, and he couldn't help that he was greatly looking forward to having an excuse to catch up with the other Famine horseman. He wouldn't be tempted to shove his hands into the punch or find himself the awkward third wheel in a student couple's conversation this year. Although... Speaking of third wheels...
He took a single step toward Na'ima before he noticed that Ying's hand hadn't stopped moving. That might have been normal enough if she had also shifted it to a new horseman. Instead, her chalk drew another line, connecting Na'ima and himself to a third name. Was he really getting... all the dates? Mmur froze in place, holding perfectly still as he waited to see who it was.
Jing.
Hee.
His grin grew larger in response to this news, only faltering slightly when he saw the Conquest stallion's change in body language as he spoke to his sister. It was a bit of a shame that Ying had seen fit to break up the set, but clearly Mmur had no misgivings about taking anyone and everyone to Amityville's silly little dance. He would make prom night enjoyable for all of his dates, or his name wasn't... Mmur.
He practically skipped to Na'ima's side, folding his hands and leaning close as he stopped. "This will be fun. Such excellent fun." He might have clapped, just a little. "That one's Jing." He pointed and stared so hard at the back of the artisan's head that the other stallion might have felt it.

there was a very strange sense of tingling at the base of Jing's neck, It was like it became a pincushion for all the various types of needles he had on his part of the work table.
That was developing some sort of pity for the well loved pincushion, even if it was in the spitting image of his sister's head. "Is someone calling me?" he muttered, giving his siter one last glare as he pretended to be the best Kouhai that ever Kouhai'd.
- he knows your secrets, Ying.
and turned in the general direction of the strange piercing sensation and found... both his dates standing there. "Sweet merciful hay bales." He was spotted. and there was nowhere to gallop away.
Mmur was looking far too happy at the turn of events, that was mostly... untrustworthy as far as it came to that stallion. The Mare the he had to figure was Na'ima, he didn't have an opinion to her yet, there was nothing in her wardrobe that made him question her as much as her standing buddy. "Um, hi?"
Jing was as smooth as silk, thrown on a porcupine.

Oh, wonderful! Mmur came to her, that made things much easier for her. There was a warm smile behind her veil as she chuckled and watched the Famine stallion. He was so excited. When he pointed out who Jing was she turned, her eyes lighting up with approval. "Isn't he handsome. We're very lucky, hm?" She gave Mmur a wink before she turned to Jing again and gave him a low bow in greeting. "Hello, Jing. I am Na'ima," Na'ima greeted him warmly as she stood straight again, fixing her veils once she was upright again.
Yes, you are the smoothest talker, Jing. This was going to be an interesting event. "It is a pleasure to meet you, I already know sweet Mmur, so to have someone of Conquest at my side will be very exciting. Shall we be off to get to know one another better?" She would think about her need for a dress later...or when someone reminded her she would need one. The only clothes she had were the ones she was wearing, something she did hope to remedy as soon as possible.

Mmur didn't comment on how lucky or unlucky they might have been. He even toned down his grin when he noticed how uncertain and suspicious the other stallion appeared. See, he could be subtle. Barely. "Yes, exciting! We can dance and..." He wasn't really sure what else one did at these things beyond eating, talking, and solving impromptu faux murders, but he was certain they would be perfectly capable of making their own fun.
"Anyway," he continued after clearing his throat. "I have met your sister and yourself..." and he vaguely remembered the pair of them being his queens somehow, which was... very strange, "but we should probably do as the lovely Na'ima says even so. There is always more to learn!" He pressed a finger to his lips, then a moment later he sharply raised it into the air. "We could ride into the dance on our mounts!"

It was borderline unthinkable for the artisan stallion, going to the dance with not one but two dates. His head was a blur with how it could go wrong, Like how would the dancing work? "Well there is always mingling, and general mischief to cause." the polite horseboil added in optimistically. It was second nature to begin bowing, with the way that he was raised, giving a large bow to the mare of their group. "I sincerely hope to meet your expectations, both of you that is."
And he vowed to silently murder his sister at the same time, noone would miss her is she was buried in a pile of silk he figured. It would be the perfect crime. "But I have no problem with learning about you two, it would be fun."
Mmur however really wanted to make an entrance, and he didn't have the heart to say no. "Sure, that sounds splendid." he agreed, beaming a smile at them.
he was going to make sure to get his revenge on his dear sister.
