► The NPC known as Kalasia stormed off with the attitude of a spoiled street cat, but not before wetting the boy's interest. Quests? Could she mean special NPC quests?" he wondered, though the elation of conquering a social barrier and reaching the tavern's counter distracted him. The food remained delicious and he asked the Tavern's NPC what it was. It turned out to be various types of stews though only two of them would be of use to him as a newbie player. So he restocked accordingly, taking care to grab another MP Potion before plopping his butt down into a seat.
The spot he chose was near the counter, close enough to eavesdrop on the NPCs but far enough that he could quickly make an exit if things looked sour for him. He had already learned of NPC specific quests when encountering that overly amicable wench in the alley, gaining himself a decent level one staff for his class. So of course, he was curious, what could these vixens be offering? The others they spoke to were obviously a much higher level than Renaldo, so why would they bother to come up to such an obvious newbie? This bothered him, bothered him more than the way they flaunted their flesh to gain more attention. It was disgusting, who could possibly feel good leaving themselves so open to others. Their gear couldn't possibly be of use in battle either...or could they?
He took pause, going over other games and their ignorance of plausible armor and stats and frowned at the conclusion. It didn't matter. If the game developers had decided that design and coverage did not affect overall stats then something as disgusting as this would be possible. Frustrated he watched them listening as one of their ilk was offered to what seemed to be a stranger. How...odd. Gaining nothing more from his eavesdropping, Renaldo slinked out of the tavern and returned to training. Now he could take on three basic monsters, sending his un-dead minion to distract them all as he bashed them to death. It was time consuming but rather quick, collecting the experience needed whilst also letting out stress. He'd continue to do this, ignoring his stats and paying attention only to the re-spawn patterns. ◄
