Keen? Yeah, right... Kaz thought as he watched Edward slowly wake up. He intended to... I havenʻt a doubt in my mind. But the young man said nothing of his thoughts to any of the angels. Even the his face didnʻt express any of the emotions that he felt. It was a blank mask, an empty canvas. Even when Edward said his name, it did not phase or change at all.
Malik, the angel that the Muslims said guarded the gates of Hell. With the ability to freeze time, it would have been a lot smarter if Kaz had decided to allow the government to use Edwardʻs sisters instead. But that would have torn Edward up inside (and led to a much more boring story line). But when the boy turned to look at the old man, his left eyebrow raised slightly. They were, indeed, frozen. "Thatʻs very interesting..." Kaz muttered quietly as he walked over to the old man and rapped his fingers against his forehead. He wasnʻt frozen solid like an ice cube, just frozen in place. If Kaz was completely heartless, he wouldʻve punched the old man in the face. But he had a sliver of a heart, and he didnʻt do any of the things that he wanted oh-so-very-badly to do.

“Well how else were we all to be in the same room without them knowing about it.” The one called Malik protested like a child. “besides shouldn’t you be thanking us little bro.” Malik teased. The others were watching as Kaz moved towards the old man all anticipated him to do something to the old man. “He won’t know what happened.” Malik suggested hopefully.
“What do you intend to have us do now, Az?” Edward questioned the eldest angel.
“Well that all depends on Father’s son now, we have told you brother that if one of us stays we all stay.” Azrael told Edward.

At the invitation Malik gave, Kaz shook his head for a minute, a smile itching across his lips. They all wanted him to do something, he could feel it. But, as it was in his nature, Kaz thought carefully of the consequences to follow. He would definitely be punished later on, and Edward would most definitely feel the pain. Even if it was just to protect the dark angel, Kaz backed away from the old man and sat back down against the wall. He wouldnʻt risk them both getting hurt.
"If we leave, somebody will come after us," Kaz mumbled quietly into his arms as he lowered his head onto his knees again. "If we stay, we all risk losing our lives even more. Edward and I will inevitably have to enter the war. It was part of our deal with the government that you not partake. I can only ask that none of you do anything that requires being zapped by the agentʻs weaponry nor do anything that could risk your lives. If we are all clear on that, Malik, please unfreeze time and disappear. The old man will not be pleased that you have interfered."

All the girls watched waiting for Kaz to do something to the old man, to enact what they had wished to do for a long time. When he didn’t many disappointed sighs were heard some whines even but none stepped forward to do anything themselves. Edward looked around at his sisters shaking his head. Due to father’s protectiveness the male angel had had little to do with the old man until after father’s death.
“We can get all the way across the planet before they would even know.” Uriel complained softly.
“It is not our decision. If father’s son does not wish to leave then brother does not leave and none of us do. Father wished us to stay together.” Azrael scolded. “However we will not sit completely out of this war, we shall come to yours and brothers aid should you need us.” Azrael said. “However we shall disappear for now.” She continued motioning to Uriel and Malik. Uriel frowned but created a portal to which all the angels stepped through. The twins stepped through just before Azrael with soft waves towards Kaz. Once all the angels had disappeared except Edward time suddenly seemed to restart itself.

"I am aware of that," Kaz murmured slightly, running a hand through his chocolate brown bangs. "But you canʻt leave them frozen like this forever. They have families, too." For the first time in his entire existence, Kaz actually cared about somebody elseʻs family. Usually, he was the cold and heartless type who would say "Nobody cares. Weʻre not them." But now? Why was everything suddenly so different to him now? Why did he care? So many questions were running through his head right now, giving him a headache.
"Thank you, Azrael," Kaz whispered as the angels disappeared. Once time restarted again, Kaz slowly got up to his feet, walked over to the Old Man and punched him across the face. "Thatʻs for trying to kill him," Kaz hissed before grabbing Edwardʻs hand and pulling him out of the building. The agents tried to interfere and use their weapons, but Kazʻs knife immediately jumped to his hand in a defensive movement. Some agents backed up, others did not, and the ones that did not got well-deserved slashes across their arms. There was no way that Kaz was going to let Edward get hurt by those weapons ever again.

Edward watched unsure where he was supposed to be when time restarted. He knew that without his sisters help he would have been crushed to not have been would be a surprising thing to the old man. Surprise and confusion was evident on the dark angel’s face as Kaz stood up walking over to the old man and punched him. Some of the agents that had been in the room quickly turned to help the old man with cries of surprise, others drew their weapons as they watched Kaz grab Edward’s hand.
The agent who had almost led the putting of the collar on Edward was the first to step back when the knife was drawn in fact he had only half heartedly pulled up his own weapon. Edward allowed himself to be pulled along as Kaz dragged him through the building. “W-where are we going?” Edward questioned to Kaz surprised.

"Where?" Kaz asked as he continued to walk across the open lawn toward the rest of the facilities. "Weʻre leaving. I am not going back in there until the old man changes his training methods. And you are not to leave my side... Who knows whatʻll happen if they get their hands on you alone?" Kaz murmured quietly as he opened up the door to the building that he and his mother shared.
"Kazu..." Kazʻs mother whispered quietly as she looked up from the bed that she was sitting on. Kaz ignored her as he pulled Edward in gently, directing him toward one of the corners of the room. "Kazu, nani ga machigatte iruka [Is something wrong]?" But Kaz just waved her off with a sweet smile.
"Iie, daijoubu [No, itʻs alright]." But inside, Kaz knew that nothing was okay. Not with the government officials on their tail now. Especially since Kaz punched the old man.

Ruby eyes widened when he heard Kaz say they were leaving, hadn’t he told his sisters just minutes before that they couldn’t leave because the government would come after them anyway. That they were destined to be in the war despite everything. Edward’s head swam with confusion and exhaustion, he could only nod when Kaz said he was not to leave his side.
Edward shrunk back a bit as they entered the room with Mother in it. He had only encountered the woman a couple of times and he knew most of the times he had been less than pleasant, Edward had no way of knowing how she would react to him. Carefully he moved over to the corner he had been directed to, his wigs drawn in as close to his body as possible. Edward watched the woman and Kaz communicate with each other not quite understanding what they were saying. He recognized what language they were using, Father had just begun to teach him before he had died.

"Kazu...." Kaz's mother whined quietly, but Kaz simply handed her a cup of hot water and ran his hand through her hair softly. "Kazu, subetega daijoubu desuka [Is everything okay]? Kaz nodded his head, lying through his actions. His mother could barely speak English. She didn't understand anything that was going on around her. Father didn't even know that much Japanese before he married her. So, almost as if it were a punishment, Kaz had been forced into learning the language fluently so that he could translate for them. It sucked, since Kaz's mother wasn't exactly... the most aware person. Disoriented was the best word to describe her.
Before Kaz could tell his mother that everything was okay in words, a harsh banging on the door came. When Kaz went to open the door, he saw the old man standing outside with his agents. "Nani?" Kaz growled. He didn't care if any of the agents or the old man could speak Japanese, or understand it for that matter. He was just so pissed off...

Edward watched the soft display of affection between Kaz and his mother curiously. He knew Azrael did that when the twins got upset over something they had seen. When the woman spoke again his brain fought trying to translate what she was saying. He knew at the very least she was asking a question. Edward reached out a hand to touch the woman’s to give some comfort like Kaz was giving when the banging on the door startled him, quickly his hand was snatched back to his chest and he pulled himself closer almost like a ball to make himself smaller.
“Young man we were not finished with the training and your behavior is becoming inexcusable.” The old man snapped. “Now if you can not handle the training of number 13 then I will asked that you do not attend but he is our to train for this war. Now if you will kindly release him to us so that we may continue.” The old man ordered, he didn’t look like he was really giving Kaz a choice.

((I won't be able to get on a lot now that my computer's harddrive crashed. I'm using my brother's computer right now under the guise of homework. I'm sorry if this causes any inconvenience... ))
"Oh... that sounds like a threat," Kaz muttered quietly under his breath as he leaned against the door frame. Inexcusable behavior... that was something that Kaz had always gotten called out for in elementary school. Okay, so his lack of respect for his teachers was completely uncalled for. But he had a reason! That teacher had tried to give him a time-out for saying that the class work was way too easy! "Unfortunately, I find your training methods inhumane. You could have killed him, you know. Knowing the limits is not an effective training method. If I test your limits until you break, you won't grow stronger. You won't improve. You'll slowly decay and decline until you are nothing but a melted puddle of goo."
"Kazu..." Kaz's mother suddenly snapped once as she looked up from the mess of red hair that covered her face. Her ice blue eyes glared back at the old man before she stood up and clutched her son's arm. "Do... not... ret... man... terr ru... what to do..." Kaz's eyebrow raised slightly as he looked at his mother. She had tried to speak English, as notorious as it sounded.
"Sometimes, it's better to give in..." Kaz confessed quietly. "Take him... but if I see ever see him with a single scratch on him, a knife to your back will be the least of your worries." With that, Kaz stepped to the side to allow a single agent inside to get Edward. When more than one agent tried to enter, Kaz's knife immediately found the man's neck. "Only one at a time, sir. You don't want me to... get more defensive than I already am."

(Oh no thats sad. Don't worry its not an inconvenience its just sad I hope your computer will be fixed soon though or you get a new one.)
The old man glared as Kaz muttered under his breath, he did not like dealing with unruly children. “It does not matter what you find disagreeable with our training methods. We had no way of knowing what the extent of his power is or if he can even die.” The old man growled. “Also he is not human therefore there is no need to follow regulations. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” He continued.
Edward watched surprised when the woman suddenly raised her voice and went to her son. Her English was quite broken but Edward knew what she had been trying to say. She was supporting her son like father had done. Edward watched Kaz with hope thinking he would not be released to the men and his eyes widened when he heard Kaz allow the agents in. Edward stood up his wings unfurling a bit as an agent stepped inside his small canines bared. “Kaz…” he whined softly hoping to provoke some reaction that would save him from the agents.
The agent that had been let in stopped when his partners were stopped at the door. He did not want to face the creature alone. “I’m to get it?” he questioned surprised looking to the angry looking creature.

When he heard his name being called, Kaz slowly turned around, the knife still firmly held against the man's throat. A smile was plain on his face, a sweet smile, one that was directed at Edward. "Edward," Kaz whispered quietly, "do what you need to do." In those words, Kaz actually meant 'If you want to, send him flying out of the building. Nobody's going to get able to step inside this apartment...'
In response to his partner's question, the agent tried to push Kaz out of the way but the boy stood his ground. "I'm sorry.... Did I say you could come in here? You're disturbing my mother's fragile psychological barrier... she may just... snap." The last word hung in the air, the devilish look in Kaz's eyes giving his mother all the hints she needed. Her hand traveled down his until it reached the knife, her fingers curling around the handle. "If you think I'm being unreasonable, then you'll see where I get it from," Kaz smirked at the old man. "What doesn't kill your agents will make them wronger, right...?" Unfortunately, Okaa-san isn't content with letting them live.

Edward looked confused as Kaz smiled at him. He didn’t know what the other wanted but he couldn’t think for a second after stealing him from the old man’s grasp in the training room that he was about to given up as easily as Kaz seemed to be. When the other said do what he needed to do he heard the unsaid words. Ruby eyes darkened as Edward powers flared up inside him. The dark tendrils of power welled around him like smoke and the agent who had been ordered closer stopped once more.
“You both are insane,” the old man growled. “You’ll both be thrown out of here once we have 13.” He growled furiously. Edward had thrown back the agent who was to close for his liking, hearing he was to be separated from Kaz and Mother a feral growl ripped itself from his throat and dark red eyes darkened more to a dark maroon color. The whisps of power solidified and lashed out at the agents in the doorway. A few curled gently around Kaz and Mother protectively.
“FIRE IT!” came a yell beyond the door. A soft click was heared from behind Edward and the dark angel felt something embed itself between his wings. Whipping around the dark angel snarled sending the whisps into the vent, the only access point behind him. The man that had lain there was suddenly killed; revealing his back to the doorway and Kaz a dart could easily be seen between his wings. “AGAIN!” came another yell from the doorway. Edward whipped around only to be hit in the chest with another dart. Edward stumbled back with another growl the whisps protecting Kaz and Mother lashed out through the doorway. More darts hit the angel in the chest which he ripped away with his hands. Two more agents were killed before the whisps suddenly became gas like once more as Edward collapsed to his knees but he struggled against the hold the darts were having on him. Agents rushed past Kaz and his mother at the old man’s orders once more seizing the angel by his arms and dragging him from the room. Once outside in the hall the old man walked up to the barely conscious Edward smirking before he snapped on the collar the agents had refused to put on him earlier. “You idiot boy, you give him permission and now 3 people are dead.”

((Success!!! My brother bought me a hardddrive!))
Kaz watched silently as Edward's eyes grew darker, more feral. A smile touched the boy's lips as he let go of the knife and slipped out of the doorway. He wasn't going to stay in that room while Edward was about to lose it. But, as soon as he stepped out, he noticed one of the agents cocking a weapon different from one that he had seen before. A weapon that looked something like a gun. Instantly, Kaz began running back toward the room. He jumped on the agent, but he was too late. The weapon had already fired.
By the time the old man had pulled Edward out, Kaz had already beaten the agent under him to death, his face an unrecognizable mess of blood and scrapes. "Make that four," Kaz hissed, blood staining his face as he looked up at the man, his usually clean blue eyes a deep obsidian. Kaz's father had told him something about how his eyes could change color whenever he was angry. It was from a little experiment that his father had performed on him when he was born. And, strangely, his mother had consented to it as well. Anybody could tell that Kaz was angry. He looked like he was going to cut the old man to pieces.
