The picture size is forgiven~

Well, I do a lot of combinations when I paint, and yes I water down my paints jus VERY very slightly when I highlight, also doing 3 or 4 different lights of the color.

Take the Baron's cape for example, Incubi Darkness, no wash, adding say, 1/5 white, painting all but the deepest recesses, adding another 1/5, doing the same thing but not the full area of the other combination, then another 1/5 to paint the long edges, not following them ALL the way though, then finally adding another bit of white just for the outermost edges.

All this is done with a Citadel Standard Brush, using a Citadel Detail Brush for the edge painting.

Of course as said when I answered your question, I water down the paint just very very slightly.

The horizontal Lines on the cloak are more watered down though since I didn't want them to look like "bumps" on the model, so they are about 50/50, using the detail brush's outer tip to get it done.

I hope this helps, otherwise I'll try to make a better explanation! (it's hard to translate all the words I want to use xD;;; )

oh no that is what i wanted to know. I heard something good to use is a Matt Varnish. Which is what was suggested to me by a good painter. It apparently makes your paint more transparent. Which should be good for doing highlights, making them more subtle.

Yeah, they got a new boss and he thought it was too expensive to keep it up and running...

Anyhow!

Just had a wonderful game of 40K, Kabal of the Frozen Soul vs Death Guards.

Not much pics of the actual battle, but here's the ones I took!

I'm currently painting up a troupe of Harlies for this weekend as I'm going to host a small event for 4 gamers and we all get to play a game of 1500 points against each player.
I've been having my Harlequins laying around for some time, and as one of the others play Chaos I feel the need to use them (fluff) as well that we talked about Dark Eldar having outrageous (not always game breaking, but we have them) saves throughout the army (Shadowfield, Harlie's with Shadowseer in cover, the Baron joining a unit "going down" in area terrain gaining a total of +3 to their cover saves, flickerfields, feel no pain etc), and just to nudge at this discussion I'm "theming" my list this weekend for outrageous saves, so a 20 blob of warriors will hang around in area terrain with the Baron as my harlies will advance for starters.

Enough talk, here is the test mini.

I did not really want to paint checkers and stripes all over the model, but I wanted it to be colorful, or at least more colorful than the rest of my army, so the main colors I'll be using on my Harlies are black clothes, Incubi Darkness masks/shoulderpads/kneepads and white collars, and each Harlequin will have it's own combination of colors.

I thought Tau were not corruptible by Chaos?

They are not "incorruptible", they're just way harder to corrupt, like Orks.

They even had a section of the Daemon Hunters Codex (and Witch Hunters too I believe) with reasons to fight Tau with anti Daemon stuff (corrupted, corrupted without knowing etc), say you get the Nurgle's Rot, and are getting delusional as you get more sick, and this foul bloated Chaos Space Marine seems to oddly look and sound like an Ethereal to them.
