gothic visual kei bands....

No such thing

Yes there is! Visual Kei and Goth are often together. Keep in mind when people say Gothic they include a few subgenres. Visual kei not being one, but it can be directly connected. For good example, BLOOD (search "blood visual kei" on youtube) is a very gothic-like band.

There's nothing gothic about BLOOD aside from their fashion sense, which even then is still debatable.

If you want Japanese goth/deathrock bands, you'll want something similar to 13th Moon, Auto-Mod, Phaida, etc.

It depends on what your idea of 'goth' is, or what you think it should sound like. However, tons of goths do love certain visual kei bands such as Blood, Malice Mizer (Mana created the elegant gothic lolita brand moi meme moitie, and was the first one to use and make popular the terms elegant gothic lolita and elegant gothic aristocrat), D'espairsRay, some Phantasmagoria, ext.

Mine would be a band from Budapest,Hungary called The MooN, and a Japanese visual kei band called BLOOD. I found them on Vampirefreaks and fell in love. From there came some more famous ones like Siouxsie and tthe banshees, Bauhaus, and newer stuff like HIM and Lacuna Coil.

Angel of the end:
The fact you include hawthrone heights in your list of gothic music disgusts me. As does the rest of it. Please do some studying. Most of those bands are quite fine, but have never been, and never will be goth.

I know they are not goth, dearest fool. I am saying the style of music that eventually led to me finding bands such as The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Malice Mizer, Phantasmagoria, and so on.
Keep in mind as well, I did go through a time of being an "emo" kid. I'm not one of those people who goes around saying, "I've always been goth" or that I am "gothier than thou"....
If I wanted to include Britney Spears or Lady Gaga ((which I would rather die than have to listen to that stupid Disco Stick Love Game whatever song again)), and say that I clicked a link from one of their videos randomly on youtube to discover no other than Emilie Autumn (random), that should be a proper story to tell.

Ohh okay. Yeah, I hear you on that. My apologies.
In that factor I suppose I have to give credit to Blink182, Greenday, The Offspring, Good Charlotte, and whatever other poppunk bands I started off (and still love) listening to. Yes, I am not really embarassed to say I started off as a punk, and still pull from that fashion sense quite a bit.

alrighty then ^^ and that's nice. Honestly, I would be a bit... well, on edge... if there was anyone here that happened to fit into a perfect mold...

** also note, the words "Visual Kei" translate to "Visual Style", which could follow anything where the band dresses in a way that is not typical, and often reflects the style of music and how they perform. A common example: Dir en Grey. -shrugs- No longer visual kei, but now, they still continue to dress in ways that fit their music more than anything else.
((Compare their music video Garden to their newer songs and videos from live performances))

I'll refrain from throwing a wall of text at you, because honestly I don't feel it's worth my time at the moment.

Instead, I'll simply say this:
If it doesn't come from post-punk, goth rock, deathrock, darkwave, or any of their derivatives,, it isn't goth.

Lots of goths are fans of Alice Cooper, T. Rex, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and hell even Marilyn Manson.
Does that make them goth? Absolutely not. The same logic applies for visual kei.

When Mana named his styles of gothic lolita, he wasn't referring to the subcultural which many of us in this guild belong to, he referred to the classical literary term used to describe the socially outlandish and morbid.
Very few goths use the "-ic" part of the word "gothic" to differentiate the subculture from its literary counterpart.

Im one of that marilyn-manson fans thank you. but I need to say, after Mechanical Animals, its a typical sellout.

How did I begin in this subculture?
To be honest my first bands where No Doubt with tragic kingdom, a skapunk music. Than 4skins a normal oi music. Adicts? clockwork punk. And than came Siouxsie, and than Specimen, ASF and all by time.

I still like punk music, I think that I will be a punk in my heart for all eternity but when I googled a bit and read some books It seems "dark themes" and "morbid style" isnt punk xD crap. I was pretending to like colours. that was a strange feeling.

ah, that was 7 years ago... Im so old. Thank you for reminding me

Heheh. Only Marilyn Manson stuff I ever really liked was his cover of "This Is Halloween", and the score work he did for the Resident Evil movie(including his cover of the main theme, though I absolutely hated the movie).

clockwork punk? LOL WAT?
The adicts took their appearance from the Kubrick film A Clockwork Orange, which was itself more of an exploration of humanity.
Clockwork Punk doesn't exist.

I hate to say it, but there are elegant gothic lolitas in this guild (-points to self and a few others, I having since moved on to a more aristorcatic elegant victorian style... however, still having and being very fond of my lolita past).
There are several subdivisions of goth, and relatives of goth.
And according to what you are saying, truely, no band or music is goth. Look at the music "goths" started out listening to, it has graduated as more and more variation and individuality grew into the subculture.
If the artist themselves refer to themselves as goth (which the band Blood and many others have done), they very well are in their own right, especially if they fit somewhere in the grey, black and jewel toned mold the goth subculture in general has set up over the years. If they do not, or if they deny it, I guess they are something else (like a not-a-goth or something rolleyes )

Also... look up the words goth, gothic... -_-;; the modern terms of "goth" (a thing) and "gothic" (a thing or like a thing, basically, depending on how it is used... more so for certain styles of buildings and what not) are close, and there is a reason that goths started going by this term (aka, look at the origional word and the great history and appearence behind it...)

How is that even the slightest bit relevant?

I sincerely hope you're not a white American. There are very few things that look more ridiculous than a white kid trying to pull off Japanese fashion.

Yes. Deathrock, post-punk, darkwave, and "bat cave"

Goth was originally called Positive Punk. It sprung directly out of the ashes of UK punk culture in the late 70's.
Simultaneously, death rock was forming out of the southern California punk scene.
If it's not descended from one of those, it's not goth.

That's a load of crap. Most of the original goth bands denied the label for years, and many do to this day. Siouxsie still considers the Banshees a punk band.
An artist can call themselves whatever they want, but that doesn't make it true.
All the little moron kiddies that buy black t-shirts at Hot Topic, listen to My Chemical Romance and plaster themselves with Nightmare Before Christmas crap run around calling themselves goth too, even though they quite obviously are not.
I've heard Blood. They are not goth. They sound like some Marilyn Manson s**t.

lol, ignorance.

Didn't My Chemical Romance call themselves goth in a Gothic Beauty interview?
Hasn't Marylin Manson called himself goth many times(just look at the beginning of the "Tainted Love" video)?
