"Yeah I know. But James was the first one to accept me being with Snape. I mean i now understand why Sirius hated him so much but still..." Remus sighed. "Well I tried."

"I'll try to talk to him one day," Lily promised. "Now, tell me about you, Sirius, and Snape. What happened?"

James finished his dinner and stood. "I think I'm going to head up early. I'll see you guys later, okay." He pretended to stifle a yawn as he left, heading for Gryffindor Tower.

"What is basically boils down to is that Severus wasn't right for me and Sirius was. You remember I told you about my condition? Well I had to find my mate and well I had but I was to afraid to lose him to act on it. Sirius was always my mate and I had just hoped that I actully got to chose my mate but It worked out better this way."

"I see. And did you break that news to Snape gently? He doesn't seem like it, I know, but he's actually very sensitive."

"Yeah I know. And I wish I would have. But I didn't get the chance. He overheard when I was told that he wasn't my mate." Remus frowned.

Lily frowned. "Oh. I see. Are you going to talk to him?"

Remus shook his head. "I don't think he'll want to talk to me. And I don't know what Sirius would think if he saw I was talking to my ex-boyfriend."

Lily's eyes flashed, though her tone remained calm. "And what about Snape? Don't you think he deserves some kind of explanation? A proper end to a month long fling?"

"I gave him one. Besides when we were together all he kept saying was that we weren't going to last. Well he got his wish."

Lily fell silent as they continued with their duties. As it was early, there wasn't much to do, yet. She turned when she heard footsteps behind them. "Potter, what are you doing wandering the halls," she asked, a little sharper than she intended.

Remus turned around knowing it was James before Lily said anything. "James you should get back to the common room. It's almost curfew."

James rolled his eyes. "Relax, Mr. and Mrs. Prefect. There's still half an hour left before curfew. I was just on my way up. You happen to be patrolling the same corridor I take as a short cut." He hurried past them, intent on telling himself that he didn't remember the conversation he and Remus had had at dinner. "Night, Evans," he added evenly.

After James left Remus rolled his eyes. "I give him some advice and doesn't take it." He muddered

"If he wants to run the risk of being caught out of bed, that's his business. What he doesn't realize is that we have curfew for a reason. These are dark times, and if he wants to risk seeing the Dark Lord face to face, fine," Lily sniffed, irritated with the Gryffindor quidditch champion.

"I was talking about different advice. You really think Voldemort will be able to get into the school?"
