Ex-Professor Remus Lupin

Remus watched as Sirius set about scourgifying the upstairs while he trailed behind him. It was surprising sometimes to see Sirius go from his usual playful attitude to Mr. Serious. Realizing the irony of the name, Remus gazed about the bedroom at the top of the stairs.

It had been here that he had seen Sirius for the first time in twelve years. Tracing a hand absently along the bedpost, he set about scourgifying the bed. Come morning, he was going to crawl into it if he had to, lying on the floor wasn't exactly the most comfortable thing to do the morning after a transformation regardless of potion or not.

Sirius finished up the upstairs and went to Remus.

"Go on and get ready, don't want you to rip those clothes--you'll regret it in the morning. I'm going to go see what I can get cleaned up downstairs--just shout if I'm not back before you transform, ok?" he said before kissing Remus lightly on the cheek and bounding down the stairs two at a time shooting out Scourgify charms over the banisters.

Kathryn sighed and leant against the stone floor eyeing Harry.

"If I could control the moon, I wouldn't be here" She said monotonously. "But I gather it will be soon..." she said reaching up for her tie and hastily removing it, the silk slipping between her sweaty hands. Thinking that it would be best not to wear a tie for full moons she quickly undid the last loop and tossed it over near the clothes rack. Silently wishing for a window to see the object of her loathing she was startled to realise a small window form near her right. Striding over the the window she saw two things. Her pale reflection, cold and still, and the scenery. There, about her was the blinding image of the full moon.

It was like a sudden sickness sweeping through her body. Each vein inside her seemed to catch fire and burn her from the inside out. Her bones began to twist, her body contorting into an almost alien shape. Her vision slowly swayed until the green shag carpeting morphed into a dull grey. Collapsing to her knees she twitched and felt her body slip into the Wolf inside her.

Remus nodded, absently shedding the robes he had been wearing as Sirius left the room, leaving him in slacks and shirt. Pacing the room, he ran his fingers through his hair. He could feel the moon thrumming through his body. His palms were sweating suddenly and he cursed softly to himself as he stalked over to the window, wanting to see the moon and feel it as it reached its full.

Grabbing the ragged curtains, he was about to pull them back when it happened. His body twisted, pain lancing up his spine. He tried to call for Sirius, but his throat had frozen as he collapsed to the floor. His mind was racing, falling away from the human nature and into the one of the Wolf.

The room swam before his eyes, what little color there was to it fading into shades of grey. He remembered this, the pain as his bones were literally obliterated and re-grown beneath his skin. Before he could stop himself he had started clawing at himself.

Nails turned to claw, drawing blood and finally he screamed, the sound ripped from his throat as he was literally torn from his human body and thrown into the Wolf. A moment later, it was the Wolf that lurched onto padded paws, gold eyes narrowed as he felt the air around him, sniffing for pray.

Finally, it caught the scent of a human, somewhere and with a growl, the Wolf stalked out of the room intent on finding its prey and bringing it down. At the same time the Human tried futilely to gain control but the Wolf didn't care for the softer side of itself claiming a mate, it needed human flesh.

With a snarl of rage, the Wolf stepped out into the hall and began its hunt.

Harry watched Kathryn as she leaned against the stone, watching him, her words bitter and desperate as she loosened her tie, throwing it in the general direction of the clothes rack. Harry watched it flutter to the ground.

"You okay?" he asked, standing up. "Maybe you ought to sit down."

He watched as the fifth year approached the window that had appeared in the wall. Gazing out at the night sky he saw the moon had finally turned full. His memory of the last time he had seen a Werewolf transform hit him hard and he stumbled back half a pace as Kathryn's body morphed from human to wolf.

The wolf lay upon the carpetted floor and Harry stepped hesitantly forward. "Kathryn?" he asked quietly.

Sirius coughed lightly as the dust filled his lungs and he continued cleaning. Any time now and the moon would be rising. Remus would call for him. Any minute...second...there was a thud from upstairs and Sirius turned to stare up the stairs, crouching down and shoving his wand in his back pocket.

"C'mon Remus...just a shout...c'mon Moony..." A scream shattered the silence and Sirius bolted up two stairs without thinking before stumbling back. He could hear the pounding and rushing of blood in his head.

Change Sirius!

Sirius shook his head remembering years ago Remus staring at the moon in horror while attatched to Peter Pettigrew and Ron. He remembered trying to stop it from happening, trying to break the curse.

SIRIUS!

He remembered the first time he actually got to see Remus go through the transformation rather than just hear his screams. He remembered the feeling of absolute horror he felt watching it.

CHANGE GOD DAMNIT SIRIUS!

He heard the heavy paws pad across the old floor boards out into the hallway and closed his eyes, trying to hold back his tears as he remembered words he spoke in what seemed like another life.

One day James...we'll make a cure...

And until that day you better change to Padfoot before he accidentally kills you!

Padfoot looked up the stairs and whined, lowering his belly and chin to the ground anxiously awaiting his wolf.

The Wolf stopped. The human was gone, no not gone, hiding. Making his way to the top of the stairs, he looked furiously down them to the Dog that lay huddled, pale eyes looking anxiously up at him. He growled, enraged that his prey had disappeared once again leaving him with the Dog.

With a graceful leap, the Wolf bound down the stairs landing at their bottom and began the search for a way out, ignoring the Dog for now. It wanted human flesh and if the prey was hiding it would find it elsewhere. Or take its rage out on something else.

Pacing back and forth across the room, the Wolf sought out an exit, its desperation become clearer as he threw himself against the wall. The Wolf did not feel the pain, it never would, but the Human would suffer the effects later. Finally the Wolf realized that it would not be able to escape from this place and its anger, its blood lust turned upon its self.

Teeth tore flesh with a practiced easy, bloody splattering the already stained floor. The Human, ever present, was aware of the pain fully and aware that the Dog was nearby.

( sweatdrop Oi...that was bad.)

Padfoot stayed down as the wolf paced and threw himself against the wall. Inside Sirius cried out for him to stop it all, to stop the wolf from hurting himself, but Padfoot understood the need. The restless that would build up during those long nights when all you had were the horrible memories and the obsession of being innocent driving you forward.

But when Padfoot smelled the blood in the air he turned and barked angrily at the wolf, tackling him and growling. He butted the wolf underneath the chin with the top of his head to get the large teeth away from the abused flesh trying to reason with the wolf as his human mind choked at the sight of so much blood.

Padfoot rested his head on the wolf's injury and looked up at him whimpering not caring if his "fine" fur was stained with blood. He lifted his head and licked the wound a few times, cleaning the blood away to reveal the true extent of the injury as the human inside grimaced remembering the Centaurs from earlier. Padfoot whimpered again, the coppery taste filling his mouth as he backed away and flattened himself against the floor unsure as to whether he had crossed the wrong boundries or not.

The Wolf growled as the Dog butted against him, keeping him from , nearly lashing out, going after him but the Human's voice was suddenly louder, telling him to stand down. Still growling, he let the Dog lick the wound.

As the Dog pulled away from him, whimpering as it lowered itself to the floor. The Wolf cocked it's head. This wasn't a proper display of submission but it would do, snapping his jaws toward the Dog, the Wolf set its self on ripping apart the nearest object. This ended up being a lopsided desk standing in the corner.

Padfoot watched the wolf rip apart the desk and whimpered, wanting the wolf to stop being so destructive. In his mind he knew he wasn't doing everything correctly and should roll over to expose himself to complete submission but inside Sirius was putting down his foot on how much control the animal had.

Padfoot crawled forward and watched the wolf rip apart the desk. He happened to crawl into a rather large part of the floor still covered in dust and sneezed loudly. The dog froze, unsure as to whether his improper gestures and sneezing would anger the wolf and turn it upon himself. He was unable to control himself though and sneezed twice more, covering his snout with his paws whimpering and sneezing.

Finally Sirius couldn't handle it any more and Padfoot jumped up and ran to the stairs where there was no dust. He sneezed a few more times before going silent, sniffling and shaking his head.

(For some reason the image of Padfoot sneezing is just adorable.)

The Wolf jerked his head up with a snarl. Looking over at the Dog, he snarled. Stalking toward the Dog, he shoved the smaller animal out of his way and back into the wall, fully intent on taking out his rage on him. This creature had blood. It wasn't the human blood that he wanted but it would suffice.

NO!

The Wolf jerked away from the Dog with a snarl. It couldn't hurt the Dog. Some part of his mind was screaming at him that this was a packmate. This was mate. So, with a growl of frustration, the Wolf stepped back and turned his rage back onto himself, the coppery taste of the blood filling his mouth.

(Grah...that was bad sweatdrop )

(you and I are probably the only ones crazy enough to think that... sweatdrop )

Padfoot yelped and cowered as he was thrown into the wall. The wolf advanced on him and he shivered--animal instincts and human logic fighting. The wolf jerked away though and Padfoot relaxed until he saw the wolf tearing at his own flesh again. He barked angrily and stepped forward and both Animal instincts and Human logic paused their fight trying to figure out what had posessed Padfoot to do something as reckless and stupid as bark at a wolf.

Before either could do anything though, Sirius had taken over driving Padfoot with his usual recklessness, knocking the wolf's head away from his wound and flipping over on his back exposing his stomach and neck without a second thought, whimpering and trying to get the Wolf to find something else to do rather then chew his flesh to pieces.

Neither Animal instincts nor Human logic thought that this was the best idea now of all times, taking everything into consideration, but Sirius was intent, whimpering and lightly brushing his paw up at the wolf trying to get him to do something other than bite and chew and generally destroy.

(You are so very strange HK)

Hackle raised, the Wolf pulled away from the Dog's reach. The Dog had submitted and the Wolf reveled in his triump. With a snort, the Wolf shook his head, stepping back from the Dog in favor of trying to decide if it could really get outside. He wanted to hunt. The Dog was stopping him from taking his rage out on himself.

Pacing across the room, he leapt carefully onto the window seat and began to claw at the boards over the window, not seeing the ancient claw marks from earlier attempts. Nor was he likely to care if he had.

He wanted fresh air not to be locked up in this awful house. It smelled of betrayal and death and he wanted nothing of it. With a howl of frustration, he threw himself against the boards. There was no give, and with a snarl, he tried again, harder this time.

Padfoot watched the wolf back away and throw himself against the window in vain. He rolled over and watched the fruitless attempts to escape. Finally Padfoot sighed and sat up.

On the one hand, the wolf really wanted to go outside, and Padfoot/Sirius wanted to make Moony/Remus happy and he was sure nothing too terribly bad would happen--the farthest really Moony had ever gotten during previous Full Moons was in the deepest reach of the Forest because they had always been good about directing the wolf to the Forest rather then the town.

On the other hand, Remus said he didn't want to go out, and Sirius knew that Remus knew best. And it was only Padfoot tonight, Prongs wasn't around to help push the Wolf a different way, and Wormtail wasn't around to dart in front of the wolf, luring him this way and that.

Padfoot whined at the wolf, wanting to distract him from causing future injuries.

Surely there was something they could do in this house, tug of war with old furniture or running up and down the stairs for the pure hell of it.

The Wolf gave up a moment later aware that his shoulder was dislocated. It was easily ignored as he leapt off the window seat. Pacing once more, he set his course in a wide circle around the room, searching for something. The Human knew what he was looking for.

He found it a moment later, the trapdoor. He scrabbled for purchase, clawing at the abused floor. He gave up a moment later, shaking his head in frustration.
