Anyone got advice for drybrushing? I'm thinking of trying it on my first squad of Tact Marines just to see how it looks (Macharius Orange onto Chaos Black primer), but the last time I tried (for Necrons. Necrons!), I screwed it right up.

try wiping it off on a paper towel till you cant hardly see the paint on the towel, and remember you can always re-prime in thin coats and try again. Practice makes perfect.

Hello all,
in my current painting projects, I have finished an ork commission for a friend, and am currently working on the marines.
what I am doing is painting my black reach forces, then selling them as I have no other purpose for them,
I have the rulebook and such, and they are taking time away form my main armies.
I will have pictures of the orks here shortly.
Also, would 20$ for the marines plus the combat squadx6 I made earlier of ultramarines be a good price for the marines?

What my main issue is, is the marines. I am painting them as salamanders, as i converted the dread to use a heavy flamer instead of a Storm bolter.
This, plus the fact that all the others are very 'salamandery' made me make this decision. but now, I am having an impossible time painting the green on them!
I tried following GW's articles section, but the paint mix is always "off". it's like i can never get it just right. I am also struggling on highlighting as they tend to either clump or get too wide with small brushes, and large brushes run the risk of seemingly magnetizing to what I have already painted...

Anyone have any hints, tips, or tricks that don't involve colour mixing?
I am still struggling with that, and will try and work in unmixed until I get it. Also, brush tips (literally). which do you prefer for tight spaces or eyes?

PICTURES:
I have thinned my paints, and both of these were to be 'tournement quality'. Also, my camera skills are notoriously bad in my college's art department.
The Guy who wanted the orkz was okay with that level of quality, and I hope I delivered.

Woah. Big pics should probably be linked, or we'll have page stretching goodness.

The Marines look pretty good, though. The ones that didn't come out fuzzy, at least.

Liberi Glacialis, your sarge/beakie tact seems to have a 'woah' mentality about them, soemthing you wouldn't expect out of marines!
I kind of like that effect.

The next three I made I couldn't quite pull it off. Hold on, I'll get a pic, and put it in this post.

From behind

Then again, maybe I should just call them the Shocked Marines and call it a day.

I'm actually making a Traitor Inquisiton/Chaos army, and I'm going to be working Grey knights as well. I was planning on doing a Codex gray base, followed by Boltgun Metal, then Mithryl silver wash, then rusting them and covering them with gore.

Replace Black with Green, and paint the armor plates in the Red/Green instead of Grey/Sliver, it still comes out nice. Motley, not Grey Knight-ish, but still nice. My brother did his Knights that way.
