"Go ahead," Ducan said, turning his head away from the direction of the smoke. He wasn't big on them, but he decided to let his future mother-in-law, and besides, it was outside, so it was all good.
"I just wanted to do it now, because..." Ducan looked down, "Well, I'm not sure, but something inside me was telling me this was the moment to do it. I have no doubts about that."

"A heart man. I'm like that too." she blew a few more puffs into the autumn air: "Except I'm a woman." Kikyo paused, taking a few more inhales: "Now, that you plan to marry. How about you invite your parents?"

"Yes, I was just getting to that," Ducan said, "Would you excuse me?"
He went back inside the house. Passing by a jumping Lance, he grabbed the phone and dialled his parent's number.
"Hello?"
"Oh, Dad!" Ducan laughed, "Um, you know when I told you I had a boyfriend?"
"Wait a minute. Did you break up with him? Ducan m'boy, I thought I taught you commitment! At least your last boyfriend you spent years with him! How long did you have with Faye? You can't let them all slip, Ducan! Soon, all the good ones will be gobbled up!"
Ducan made a face. "Father," he said seriously, "I just want to say that Faye is now my fiance."
There was a slight pause on the other end of the line. Ducan waited, until his father spoke up, "Ducan, I'm going to have to go."
"What? Why?"
"Because if I stay on the phone with you any longer, I WILL HAVE LESS TIME TO PACK, AND WE NEED TO GET THE CAR GASSED UP AND DRIVING OVER TO YOUR HOUSE AT BREAKNECK SPEED! HONEEEEYY!!!! GET YOUR SUITCASE OUT!"
Ducan laughed as he hung up. His father was now on over-excited mode.

"Ducan?" Faye called, stepping into the kitchen to see him hang up the phone. He had manage to escape his Mom's hour long reenactment of her wedding by fetching them more wine: "Who was that on the phone?"

Ducan looked up at Faye. "That was my dad," he explained, "I just called my parents and told them we're engaged. If I'm correct, they should be piling up in the car right about now and driving way past the speeding limit to get here."
Ducan wrapped Faye in his arms and kissed him. "I'm so excited!" he declared happily, "I can't wait for you to meet my parents!"

"Really?" Faye's eyes brightened: "Oh me too! But I'm soo nervous now."
The baker returned the kiss with the same passion. He didn't bother to remove himself from Ducan, his fiancee was too warm. It was a good five minutes of just kissing and hugging, then reality set in. Faye had to cook for six:
"I better start cooking then. So many mouths to feed!" he joked, pulling out cooking ware: "But you get to pick what we eat, love, since I promised you."

Ducan hugged Faye from behind and kissed his ear. "I waaaaant," he pretended to muse for a moment, though he had a clear idea of what he wanted to eat, "Spaghetti. A nice big, hot plate of spaghetti. You pick the sauce."
He nipped at Faye's neck playfully.

Shivering in pleasure, the baker moaned suggestively: "Duucan, my neck...it-its you know my spot.." Faye rolled his hips against the writer's before getting some water to boil.

"Yes, but you're just being so deliciously sexy, and I am..." Ducan lowered his lips to Faye's ear, "Ravenous and I need something to hold off my hunger."
He looked towards the living room where Rachel and Kikyo were chatting and keeping Lance busy, who was happy to have so many people finally in the house. It had been just him and Ducan for so long!

"Mmhmm..." Faye turned to Ducan, kissing and small fingers playing with long hair quickly before turning to boil the noodles. He musn't give into temptation!: "No, love, we can't 'satisfy your hunger' in the middle of the kitchen with your future in-laws in the next room." He grinned as he searched for the olive oil: "No matter how kinky it could be."
Lance trotted in nudging Faye in leg to signal to move, before dipping his nose into his food bowl.

"Alright," Ducan stepped back reluctantly and turned his head as the phone rang. Lance's happy tail whipped his leg as he picked up the phone hanging on the kitchen wall. "Hello?"
"Ducan! This is your father speaking! We will be here in half an hour! Did you get that?"
"Um, yes, why?"
"Honey, he can hear just fine, the signal does not dim in a moving car," he heard his mother say.
"HALF AN HOUR!" Ducan's father yelled, "WE WILL BE HERE!"
Ducan shook his head as he hung up.

"Your parents again, love?" he wondered out loud: "I do hope I can at least boil the noodles before they get here..."
Faye stirred the spaghetti into the pot, watching it steam and bubble. Tomato sauce was next, he decided to make it homemade; mashing tomatoes, sprinkle oregano and parsley. Kikyo came in to assist by grating cheese then Rachel brushing olive oil on some bread. The Leonards worked their magic to ensure the Dartmoores a hot meal upon their arrival.

A quarter of an hour passed as the happy household chatted away. As Ducan stood up to look for more wine, the doorbell rang.
"That'll be them," he said, and, pushing a barking Lance out of the way, he opened the door. An armful or short, greying man grabbed him into a giant bear hug.
"Ducan! M'boy! Let your old man in!" Ducan was then hugged by his more modest mother.
"Dad, please don't scare the guests," Ducan muttered, following his quickly striding father into the living room.
"Nonsense! This is my son's house, I will be loud on joyful occasions!"
Ducan turned to his mother with a pleading look, but she merely looked back, her eyebrows raised as if to say, "Well, you know I can't stop him when he's like this."

Faye stood at Ducan's parents' voices. He came out to the front room with an outreached hand and smile: "Mr. Dartmoore! So nice to finally meet you, I'm Faye Leonard." The smallish baker notice that Ducan looked alot like his father while Kevin resembled Mrs. Dartmoore. He had broad shoulders that had bright pink flamingos covering it. He sported ripped khaki shorts and faded brown sandals in the middle of fall; fully retired and easygoing.

Johnny Dartmoore stared at the petite boy with his cute smile and outstretched hand. He blinked and turned to Ducan.
"Is this your fiance?" he asked, "'Cause he is just the cutest darn thing I have ever seen! Come here, son!" Johnny pulled Faye into a spleen-squeezing hug, laughing.
"Dad, you're smushing him," Ducan said, pulling his father away.
His mother moved forward and shook Faye's hand. "I'm Lydia Dartmoore, Ducan's mother. May I say that we will be very happy to welcome you to the family."
"Where's Kevin?" Johnny looked round the kitchen corner. "He should be here celebrating with us! That boy couldn't socialize with a worm!"
"Dad, come meet Faye's parents." Ducan motioned towards the two women.
