Amy smiled softly at Zephit and then back to Ryzan when Zephit called out to them. "I'm glad you two have met. And I can see where you're coming from. Usually I would agree with that sentiment about how alcohol shouldn't cover up the flavor of the drink, but like you also said, sometimes a stiff drink is just called for. But if I remember right, your favorite drink is the Elven wine, correct?"

Amy took a larger drink from her glass and then answered Ryzan's question. "I have been studying it so much and practicing, but I don't understand the language. It's completely foreign to me for the most part, and the few spells that are in English are so advanced that I screw them up. I never knew my mother could speak a different language."

Amy jumped slightly when she heard Zephit's outburst and looked over at him and Karrie with wide eyes. She tried to go back to focusing on Ryzan after a few moments, though.

*winces and shakes his head* No. *still speaking softly* It's better for us not to be together right now. *glances over at Amy*

"You still aren't making sense." Zephit remembered to keep whispering this time. Though he was frustrated enough to poke Karrie in the chest.

"It isn't better for her. All she can do is think about you." He felt legitimately upset, because the details were out of his reach. It just seemed like Karrie was being a selfish jerk to him.

It is better for her because if she's not around me, she won't get hurt! *takes a deep breath* It's a long story, and I'd rather not explain it all. Just trust me that it's better for her to move on.

Amy looked up at Zephit and Karrie, wondering what they were talking about for so long. When she looked over there, though, her eyes locked onto Karrie's. He had already been looking at her.

Her heart fluttered and she smiled gently at him. But then she forced herself to tear her gaze away. She was trying her best to keep her hopes from rising up, and staring at him was not helping.

She took another sip of her drink and then smiled slightly at Ryzan.

Xas, I do tend to favor Elven wine above all else in mzilst cases, which is generally low in alcohol content. A bit higher than something such as beer, rilu'oh I never cared for beer talk2hand

*tries not to look over at Zephit even after his earlier outburst, knowing full well what he and Karrie are discussing*
It is rather common for a magic user to know mzild than one language, especially since some spells originate in other languages. Many can be adapted to a language other than the original, jhal it takes a certain kind of knowledge to maintain the potency. One not only needs to be familiar with the original language and the language it is being converted to, jhal also the intricacies of the magic behind the words. Wizards, mages, and enchanters like myself were at times tasked with such a chore. The priest classes, though magic users, seemed to lack the kind of understanding of how magic works to be able to achieve such a thing.

Do you happen to recognize the language?

"So you are just being scared!" Zephit's voiced raised again, but not hardly an outburst this time. More of a whispered shout.

"You don't want to be responsible for protecting her because you don't think you can keep her safe." He crossed his arms over his chest, and his tail swayed judgmentally. It was a side of himself that he didn't like to admit existed.

"If you let her in she might get hurt. Then just keep her safe." Zephit resisted the urge to poke him again, instead just giving him a stern look. "But pushing her away will certainly hurt her. She loves you, you jerk."
PostPosted: Tue Sep 06, 2011 10:02 pm

Yes, I am scared. Scared that I'll hurt her again. *takes his hat off, rubbing his forehead where it's been sitting all day* I know that she loves me, but I can't return that feeling now.

I am keeping her safe, and I'm done discussing this with you.

*speaks at a normal volume* I'm going home. Good night Ryzan, Amy. *nods in their direction as he walks past Zephit on his way out*

"I tried beer here once and didn't care for it too much."

Amy's head forehead scrunched slightly in concentration as she absorbed what Ryzan said. She nodded her head at certain points and then confirmed some of what he had said. "I met a magic user at one point when a spell I cast went haywire at Aqua Springs. A venus fly trap turned into this huge, tall vine. He said that not only did I have to get the language right, but the intent had to be there, kind of like what you're saying. I had to believe in myself, too, which is hard to do when you don't know the language and you have such a talented person to live up to. Morally flawed, yes, but very talented."

She looked around for a few moments and then grabbed a nearby napkin and a pen. She scribbled on it for a few moments trying to draw some of the things she remembered seeing from the spell book. Then, she passed the napkin over to Ryzan.

Amy then looks up and sees Karrie walk out quickly. She quickly got off of her bar stool. "I'll be right back, Ryzan."

Amy rushed after Karrie and grabbed his arm. "Karrie, what's wrong?"

"Tch~" Zephit responded to being brushed off, not understanding this guy one bit. Even if a beautiful woman wasn't his mate, he'd still do his best to keep them happy. All that talk about keeping Amy safe was just an excuse, to him.

"It is getting late. I'll pass on dinner, I think." He mentioned quietly, noticing that Amy seemed too wrapped up to really care.

"Goodnight everyone." Zephit said weakly, a side-effect of his frustration, before heading out of the bar.

*turns back to the counter so he can look over the symbols on the napkin to see if it seemed at all familiar to him*

Nothing's wrong, Amy. *pulls his arm away from her* I'm going home and going to bed. *by this point, after the conversation with Zephit, is too tired to try to put it nicely* Have fun with the cat-boy. He's certainly got the attitude of a cat. *waves over his shoulder as he walks off*
PostPosted: Tue Sep 06, 2011 10:25 pm

Amy winced and pulled her hand back further, as if burned, when Karrie pulled his arm away from her. He had never done that before. It hurt her deeply.

"Karrie, I don't und..." But Karrie was already gone. Why was he suddenly so angry, and why was he pulling away from her? She thought they were at least going to try and be friends. By his tone when he said 'cat-boy', he obviously did not care for Zephit. She really could not understand that. Both Zephit and Karrie were two people she thought would hit it off. They were both so kind and caring. What in the world had happened?

With tears in her eyes, threatening to fall, Amy turned back to go inside the bar. Before she could, though, Zephit came storming out of the bar. She thought they were going to have dinner together, though she admitted she wasn't really hungry.

"Zephit!" But he, too, was past listening. He was storming off into the distance.

A couple of tears fell down her cheeks, but she quickly brushed them away, took a deep sigh, and went back into the bar with her head held as high as she could.

When she got over to the bar, she smiled sadly, shakily at Rzyan. "I'm sorry about that Ryzan. I have no idea what has gotten into those two... I'm sorry I left you so suddenly, though. I wanted to check on Karrie, but.... well, I guess he had to get home suddenly."

She looked at the symbol she had drawn on the napkin. "Any idea what that might be? It's probably not exact."

Her head was swimming in confusion from the past few moments.

*not wanting to seem like he was eavesdropping on Karrie's conversation with Zephit, he decides to simply feign ignorance of it*
Perhaps he was simply just ves tired. It is quite rare he would be here at this hour I believe.

*he looks down again at the napkin, studying it. It does seem very vaguely familiar, but to what he can't put his finger on immediately.*
I am not sure.... gi~

*suddenly remembers one of the symbols on the door of the adjoining club*
Perhaps I am assuming, jhal it does seem to have some similarities to a design Liada used for Isilme Rusco. I know not of either symbol's origin sweatdrop , jhal if they are from the same or similar, perhaps she may be of help to you.
