Faye listened bright-eyed to the stories; feelings of excitement overwhelming him. He wanted to know everything about his boyfriend. The baker asked questions during the storytelling so Kevin knew that he was fairly interested. As Kevin finished, Faye spoke: "You two sound so close! Its great that you two remain good friends and also brothers." He kissed Kevin's cheek: "Thank you for sharing."

Kevin blushed, but gave a shy smile. Just then, the doorbell rang. Kevin got up and opened the door, to have a panting Ducan stumble in, looking breathless.
"I'm back," he grinned at his older brother.
"Good," Kevin whispered, "I think he's getting suspicious."
Ducan walked into the living room. "Do you want to stay longer?" he asked Faye, "We can. I just... want to ask you something when we get back to my house."

Faye raised an eyebrow: "Ok...umm, Kevin, we don't want to intrude. But if you want us to we can stay." He asked this while still looking at Ducan in confusion.

Kevin smiled. "No no, you go on ahead," he said with a knowing look, "I have a bit of work to do anyways."
"You heard the man," Ducan steered Faye towards the door, one hand around the baker's waist. "Let's get going. See you later, bro. And eat all the food Faye left for you!" he added as they closed the door behind them.
Kevin sighed and smirked slightly, crossing his arms. He would surely get a phone call from his parents soon, asking for his opinion on the catering... or perhaps whether it would be a church or backyard.

Once they got down to the car, Faye got into the passenger seat, put on his seatbelt and glanced at Ducan. His eyes twinkled from some sort of happiness. The baker didn't want Ducan to be sad, he just wanted to know why he was happy. Faye touch Ducan's knee for attention:
"Whats got you all giddy and excited?" he asked innocently, trying to weasel whatever secret out of his lover.

Ducan smiled secretively at his boyfriend. "It's a surprise," he said, "Wait until we get home."
They drove past a few blocks, finally arriving back at Ducan's house. Ducan parked, and turned to Faye, getting excited. He kissed him happily and got out of the car. Opening the door, Lance jumped on his owner, happily licking his face, glad to see him home.
"Are your parents awake yet?" Ducan looked about the room, trying to see past Lance's jumping face.

"Yeah, we're in here!" called Kikyo from the kitchen. Faye followed his Mother's voice. Faye's parents were sitting at the dinner table, drinking tea and talking: "Where did you two run off too?"
"To Ducan's brother's apartment. His name is Kevin, he's very sweet."
"Oh thats great!" exclaimed Rachel.
He nodded, walking towards the kitchen to fix himself a cup of tea. Turning to his boyfriend, Faye pleaded:
"Duuuucan! Whats my surprise?!" it was killing him.

"Alright, you impatient little imp," Ducan laughed, guiding Faye to sit on a chair at the dining table.
He wasn't even nervous that his parents were there watching. He was actually glad that they could be there to witness this.
"Faye," he said, looking up at his boyfriend lovingly. Lance approached and gave Ducan a push with his head, as though willing him to continue. " I don't know whether this is a bit early," he said, fumbling with something in his pocket, "But I believe I'm ready to do this. Faye, I want to start a family with you. I want to live with you. I want to eat your delicious cooking for the rest of my life." He pulled out a small black velvet box, and opened it. Inside was a small gold band with a gleaming round opal in the center. "Faye Leonard, will you marry me?"
(( Aw, Ducan is mushy! X3 I don't know how he got Faye's finger measurement right. O.o ))

Faye's eyes were wide with pure shock. He stared at the opal on the gold band gleaming back at him. His heart stopped. Was this really happening? In seconds, he hugged Ducan then giving a passionate kiss. His hazel eyes sparkled with tears of pure happiness:
"Yes! Yes! Yes! Oh my God, Ducan, I will marry you!" Faye cried over and over. He was happy, overwhelmed and surprised all in one emotion.
"Congratulations, both of you! Ooh, we need to take pictures." Rachel chorused, clapping before rushing off to get her camera.
"Finally!" Kikyo hollered: "I think this calls for booze."
Kikyo walked over to Ducan's wine cabinet, while Faye laid on the floor with his new fiancee telling him how much he loved the ring:
"Its perfect, love!" he beamed, looking at the ring on his finger: "Thank you...I-I'm so happy I can't..."
Tears started to come again: "I love you so much."

Ducan laughed as Lance joined in the celebrating and fell on top of the two people lying on the floor, licking both of their faces and necks.
"I love you too," he said kissing Faye. By that time, they were both covered in a fine sheen of dog slobber.

"Awww! Lance!" Faye gagged. He loved the dog btu his breath was horrible. He kissed Ducan though, happily.
Kikyo came over to the table stepping over th couple and their dog. Wine glasses gleaming: "Hunna, c'mon! Ducan, you propose a toast!"
At that moment, Rachel came in, video camera filming their every move. Faye got up and poured four glasses of red wine. Handing one to his love, smile wide.

"A toast?"
Ducan got up from the carpeted floor and helped Faye up as well. He placed his hand on Lance's head to calm the doggie down.
Lifting the glass of red wine Faye had given him, he made a little show of clearing his throat with his fist to his lips, then spoke, "Today, I have announced my engagement to the most wonderful man I have ever met. Being a writer, I could engage in a speech of poetic beauty, but I will simply content myself with saying, as Paul Bettany in A Knight's Tale said, 'This is not a day to be cheapened by flowery words and flowing prose'. Faye, I love you and I promise to make you as happy as possible." He kissed his fiance sweetly, smelling dog drool on the both of them.

Kissing back, Faye broke the kiss first: "And I, Faye Leonard, am delighted that my Ducan will have me as his husband. I mean he already has my heart so its nice to know I'll have his last name."
The baker drain his glass along with his parents and fiancee, bouncing/skipping in excitement. Rachel finished the video, and they all sat at the dining room table:
"Wow...you two...married.. Its so wonderful"
"Its great to married. But I want you two to know that marriage is hard." Kikyo said, holding Rachel's hand: "You have too work at it. But I believe that you'll be fine."
"Thank Mother."
"Welcome, Hunna. Oh and Ducan, I give you my blessing."
"So do I, dear." added Rachel: "Welcome to the family!"

"Thank you," Ducan smiled warmly.
As everyone celebrated, he made a mental note to call his parents. They hadn't even met Faye in person yet! Unless Kevin had called them already... But know, he would know to leave that to Ducan. He'd just call his brother once the wedding date had been set and the invitations sent out, which would take some time to sort out.
"I know marriage isn't the easiest thing in the world, but I believe Faye and I can work it out together." He squeezed Faye to his side gently.

Laying his head on Ducan's shoulder, Faye sipped some more wine, but he didn't remain at his future husband's side long. Rachel pulled her Hunna into the living room, both chatting animatedly:
"Well, dear, what is your dream wedding?"
"Oh I don't know, Mum." the bake confessed, plopping onto the couch.
Kikyo turned to Ducan, rolling her eyes. She then motioned them to go out to the wooden deck. It was covered in auburn leaves, wet from yesterday night's rain:
"So Ducan lets chat. Tell me why you popped the question so soon?" Kikyo started:"Mind if I smoke?" she asked, pulling out a cigarette and lighter.
