He laughed and stopped himself from rolling off the bed and on top of her. "How's the weather down there?" He asked her in teasing voice as he stuck out a hand to help her up.

She thought for a moment. "A little chilly." She climbed back under the covers and wrapped her arms around him. "Mmm, warm." She sighed.

He smiled and hugged her gently, embracing her. "Yep, very warm." He chuckled and fell asleep soon enough.

The next morning Eva woke up but Alex was still sleeping. She quietly got out of bed made breakfast. She fed Riley and carried a tray upstairs. Eva walked in the room. "Alex." She sang. "Breakfast."

Alex stretched and sat up . He rubbed his eyes and blinked when he saw Eva carrying a tray of food. "You're the one who just got out of the hospital. Shouldn't I bring you breakfast in bed?"

She chuckled. "You snooze you lose, babe. Plus, it's a thank you for taking care me, and Riley and staying by my side." She sat next to him and placed the tray on his lap. Eva took a piece of toast and started eating it. "Enjoy." She said and kissed his cheek.

He smiled and nodded. "Maybe I should try and take care of you more often. Nobody has ever brought me breakfast in bed before." He smiled again and started to eat.

She laughed. "You can if you want." Eva was about to say something but the phone rang. "Hello?" She said into the receiver.
"Oh thank heavens, Eva. Are you alright?" Her mother sighed. Eva smiled.
"Yes, mom. I'm fine. Alex is taking care of me. Mike got the chair so we won't have to worry about him." She told her mother. Eva began to pay with Alex's hair.
"I'm glad. And I'm glad Alex is there to take care of you. Now I don't have to come." She laughed. They talked for a few minutes before finally hanging up. Eva sighed put the phone back on the table.
"Mothers. Always worrying." She smiled.

Alex chuckled a little as he continued to eat the meal. "I'll always take care of you. Through sickness and in health." He smiled softly. "And she is your mother. It's her job to worry about you."

Eva smiled at him and realized that the bags under his eyes disappeared. "This is true. Mothers will be mothers." She sighed and took some of his fruit. "Strawberry?" She asked holding it out for him.

Alex smiled and ate the strawberry from her hands. "Mmm. Thank you, for breakfast and for the company." He smiled as he finished the last of the food.

"You're welcome and the company was my pleasure." She took the tray and started to head to the kitchen.

Alex stretched and followed her to the kitchen. He had nothing better to do anyways, and he was happy to be near Eva.

She placed the dishes in the sink and leaned against the counter. She smiled when Alex walked in the kitchen. "So what shall we do today?" She asked.

He shrugged. "We could check out the college. I got my acceptance letter while you were in the hospital." He smiled.
