She stood and went over to her friend. She grabbed her by the shoulders and looked at her.
"Psy! Calm down! Like Dougherty would be STUPID enough to do anything like cheat on you? With YOUR family around? That's practically a death wish!"
She took a deep breath and continued. "Psy, you knew what kind of hours he kept when you married him. You accepted that. You can't get all bent out of shape now. That should have been addressed LONG before you said 'I do' to the man! And now you're talking about having a baby? Pull yourself together, woman!"

She sat back down and took a sip of her drink before looking back at Psy.
"Hun, you listened to me when I had problems with Justin. I found out that only seeing him once a month at most just wasn't gonna cut it with me. Not to mention, I found out that we just didn't really mesh outside of the bed either. neutral "
She propped an elbow on the bar and gave Psy a serious look. "I really think you and Dougherty had better have a LONG talk about this. Especially if you're wanting children. What if you're parenting styles don't match up? What if the expectations of what each of you will do are different? How are you going to raise a child practically alone with his hours?"

*She nods. She hadn't really thought that their parenting styles would clash. They did speak about it a bit before they were married. But she must admit they really didn't get into specifics about expectations. She naturally assumed she'd hire a live in nanny, the staff at the estate would be around AND her Mother. ninja That's hardly alone.  But Kat does have a point. Children need their Father. She knows this first hand. I…I…I… I don't know. gonk

"Psy, I don't want to upset you, but I do want you to think about some of this stuff. Dougherty seems to lean towards being old-fashioned. And I know you grew up way differently than he did. What if he wants you to be a stay-at-home mom and give up managing the bar completely? Or wants you to not go to all your charity events? I'm not saying he would do this, but you need to consider the what-if's. Ya'll need to talk, hun. Not only about how he's not around now, but if he's going to continue these sort of hours once there's a child to consider."
She grabbed her shaker and refilled her glass, taking a large sip of the martini.

She sat and sipped her martini and watched Psy as she paced behind the bar.
"Psy, remember this PLEASE. I'm not saying that he'll do any of these things. I'm just trying to interject a little reality into this situation. Ya'll come from two completely different worlds, so it's just logical that ya'll are gonna have differing opinions on things. What's more important is HOW ya'll deal with those differences. Are you gonna bend to his will? You gonna make him bend to your will? Or are ya'll gonna compromise on things?"
She sighed, "That's why I'm urging you to talk to Dougherty as soon as you possibly can. Ya'll got issues, my friend, that need to be addressed before there's another little person to consider."

She linked her arm through Psy's and led her to the office. She quickly did the scans and they walked down the corridor to her chambers. She turned to Psy again while she unlocked her door.
