Can't complain, myself. Umberella's away. No time to drive down and visit folks. It rained so it was cool for once and the smokers didn't hang around outside my window. Sat around the house in my underwear all day and finally got through Smiley's People (le Carre) like I'd been meaning to for, uh, about 15 years.

That sounds like a good day, Harbone - I love spending a day at home in my pyjamas, watching DVDs razz Smiley's People is great - I love the book, and the TV series with Alec Guinness as George Smiley was excellent, too. Did you enjoy it, after your 15-year build up? (Sounds like me - all those books to read, movies to watch, half-finished projects waiting for me... lol )

Sacred Angeleus Lil-Jo I really hate working holidays... almost everyone gets to stay home and do what they want... I have to sit here at work and wish I was at home. The only bonus is the triple pay for working holidays. HAPPY 4TH TO EVERYONE!!!I would love to work holidays, but my work isn't open on nationally recognized holidays. My old job was...it was great. I loved working on holidays--my whole family was at home and I wasn't! Lol - that was priceless! And more true than most of us want to admit. rofl

I'd read Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy and liked it. It was kind of interesting to relive the cold war and to look at some of the attitudes that shaped it from he perspective of someone to whom it was still a reality. I mean, I just passed up a couple Russian gymnasts in the grocery store today, in their track uniforms, arguing with a guy from the olympic training center (the conversation was broken on both ends of the language equation, there.) I'd also seen the series a long time ago when it was on PBS over here, but, boy, I was... I think I wasn't even in high school, yet. They've got a copy on VHS here at the library. Guiness did a really good job in it, as I recall. I'm gonna have to check it out.
