~ heart heart heart ~

I wouldn't lie about liking yaoi if I got asked, but it's not like people NEED to know what you read, because it's not really their business... I wouldn't sit at the dinner table, and all of a sudden say "Hey family, I'm obsessed with yaoi manga."
I never regret reading it, even though I'm underage and all. Sure, I feel a tad guilty hiding it from my family, and reading stuff that isn't meant for girls my age. I admit that it is an addiction, but I think it's much better than smoking or drinking or doing drugs... Those things are regrettable for a good reason, because you're hurting yourself and possibly others. Yaoi doesn't hurt anyone, so it's all good biggrin

hm, I can't say I regret liking yaoi because it became something of great importance to me. Also, I'm a sucker for any romance novel. What can I say, it makes me happy and I enjoy reading those type of books/mangas.

Though I doubt I'll ever be comfortable enough to buy those type of mangas with someone...I'm just to shy, it doesnt matter who they are. I feel like I have to explain myself and my choice...
Only 3 of my closes friends know about this interest of mine; one being a fan herself, the other being the person that downloads new series for me every now and then and the other one recently found out about it. She doesn't get it why I like it, but she didn't judge me--as long as she doesnt see any of my books or drawings,we're good lol

Edward Cullen -Gabriel-
This is a good topic. It's kind of sensitive in a way, but I like it.
To me, it seems natural for girls to enjoy yaoi. Hell, I had a boy friend at school, and my friend (a girl) watched us closely to see if we'd every kiss. I don't see what's wrong with a girl liking yaoi or having to hide it.
Although it's quite harder to be a male reading yaoi, hiding it from parents/friends, or caught reading it in class or something. Just teh other day, I was approached by a guy friend, asking "So, do you like yaoi?" Naturally, I said, "Ew, no! That s**t's sick!" But I'm obsessed with yaoi immensely. I think anyone should be allowed to read it without discrminitation. It's a genre! Hell! That's a downright stupid thing to discriminate over. Some yaoi mangas/novels don't even have actual gay actions! I just read one called Invisible Boy, and no guys every kissed or admitted to liking one another. IT was more like Big bro/little bo type stuff. So there!

(Although, correct. You cannot understand the ideals of homosexuality from yaoi. And I know this is stupid, but I kindasorta caught a negative vibe from the first post about admitting to homosexuality...<_< ohwell~ ^_^)

Ah! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off as negative in the first post. I promise I wasn't intending to make it sound in any way like a bad thing, because I'm actually insanely proud of people when they do come out or even just wear their heart on their sleeve for everyone to see. It's like, some kind of awesome confidence. ^^
But yeah, what I meant was, I was sad by the people who use yaoi as a means to discriminate in a way that's similar to gay-bashing, and obviously it's not the same thing, but I mean, it's still kind of an eye-opener.
I'm glad you like the topic =)

Nope. Can't say I ever have.

I've always been the girl who reads yaoi in school and when the teacher grabs it, I just shrug and say, "I got more in my locker."

I know a lot of girls in my school get embarrised about it and I have to walk around on Thursday to collect a list of yaoi pairings, then bring in fics the next day and distribute them out to the school.

Let's make this Christmas...

Ha, really? I'd SO love to be able to do it...
I'm a bit afraid they'd take it away from me though. The kids AND the teachers at my school can be really horrible... I don't wear fancy clothes on free dres days either because I'm kindof afraid people will damage it... And my locker isn't safe either, someone stole my lock ^^;;
...a real scream~

Pretty much everyone looks at some kind of porn, whether for entertainment of curiosity. The only difference is that it's two drawings illustrated instead of two actual people videoed.
But I still think that yaoi, as with any other porn, should be kept mainly to oneself. I don't see guys in class pulling out Playboy mags to read in class (without getting in trouble), so why do people think yaoi manga is any different?

I've never had a problem with liking yaoi. The only thing gay-related I've regretted is being gay myself, but that's an entirely different story.

don't get me wrong, i'm very open-minded and understanding, but i kinda' do regret it, and kinda' feel like a pervert...but I don't really care what other ppl think of me or really there negitive oppinions of me, on the internet...It's just the real world I have an issue with really, ppl look for any reason to try to get everyone else turned against me at my school, so I try to keep it hidden, even most of my friends, especially the one's that don't like anime and stuff like that... emo

I don't regret it. I like what I like and if people have a problem with it then there not someone I really want to know. It just makes it easier to weed out the stupid people.

I get embarressed about it sometimes, but honestly I get embarrassed about everything I look at.

Granted, I don't go announcing it either, I don't feel it's anyone business what I read.

Nearly everyone who isn't related to me knows that I'm a yaoi fan. Some of the guys I hang with don't like it, but they accept it. Everyone likes differant things. I mean, how many guys like yuri? No one thinks that's something to be ashamed of, at atleast they don't think it's as bad. I've never regretted liking it. I wouldn't tell my mom about my interest since when I mentioned that one of my friends were gay, she kinda got weird about it. Not mean weird, but uncomfortable weird. Besides, yaoi manga's, books, and animes often have better conflicts, making them better than those that have regular pairings.
