At my school we can wear what we want except for certain things, here's the part of the dress code that I don't like.

ACCESSORIES
- Clothing, jewelry, and accessories shall not convey messages that are crude, vulgar/profane; violence/death-oriented (Gothic); gang related; sexually suggestive, promoting alchohol, drugs, or tobacco.
- Pierced jewelry shall be limited to the ear.
Jewelry or accessories that pose safety concern for the student or other are prohibited. Dog collars, tongue rings, wallet chains, large hair picks, chains that connect one part of a body to another are prohibited

>> what do you think of that and I copied that from the school planner

i think... i lose my planner too often anyway...

Our schools are crazy, man. But you know what? As of now most public places don't have that strict of polocy. I mean sure, you need something to cover your top area, bottom area, and the bottom of your feet, but that's about it. We should just be thankful for that. Or for the stuff we have, despite the fact that there's one place they're not allowed. They can't keep us from wearing it at home or to the mall or wherever you hang out.

So today, I thought that it would be pretty cool to do my makeup diffrently. I put small hearts all under my eyes, in diffrent coloured eyeliners, and it looked pretty cool.
So I get to school, everyone isn't ignighted by it, sure I got some compliments but that's about it.
Then, in first period, my teacher called me out right infront of the class and said that I need to wash off my makeup because it's a "distraction" to learning. I glanced at the classroom and asked them if I'm a distraction to learning, and they all didn't care, just said no. So I was pissed off because she told me to wash it off or go to the office. I wanted to just go to the office and take it up to them, but it was morning so I decided to wash it off.
I think that that wasn't right at all. It wasn't like I painted my whole face, I just did something diffrent.

I hate school rules with a passion... I think they should shove the rules were the sun does not shine.

Alaska?
Anyway, while it's true that school rules tend to be a bit overly-conservative, and likely on the brink of being ridiculous, by attending that school you agree to abide by whatever rules they supply you with. Just do what they say without arguing, and they'll leave you alone after a while.

A little less than half of the rules in the dress code were made specifically for one girl who graduated last year. Because of her, we are no longer allowed to wear fishnet stockings or put outlandish color in our hair, plus many other things. The rules were created just because the principal didn't like her, and now he's doing the same thing to me.

Atleast you can wear your own clothes.
We have a uniform that's stupidly expensive and you can't wear a cheaper version it has to be from the school stockists.

Navy school jumper, blue short sleeve shirt, navy school skirt and black tights in winter, black short socks in summer. White socks for year 7-9.

The uniform isn't that good quality, mine's been replaced twice in 7 months. The jumper is around £40, the skirt is £30 and the shirts are £20 for two.
These 7 months alone my mum's had to pay £180 out that she can barely afford.
It's not I destroy he uniform the quality is crap.

The jumpers are itchy and if you take it off you have to tuck your shirt in.
The shirt's make you sweat and if you sweat a tiny bit it spreads.
The skirt's only look okay if your skinny. They're tight, clingy and very uncomfortable.

You can't have jewelery, ANY piercings, only natural colours and shades.
No make up.
Black/blue bobbles/ribbons only.
Hair must be up.
No nail varnish.
Black flat school shoes.

So admittdly, in year 11 you get away with some of it like the make up rule and nail varnish but that's only if it's a bit of eye make up and french manicure.
I had a pink fringe with black hair and got told it was unacceptable.
I dyed my hair bright blue in the bathroom one lunch and when we return after easter I will have crayon red hair which soon will fade to pink razz .

I just thought of something I did that worked!

My school rule was 'no chains'.

I was completely chain-free for the first couple weeks or so.
Then I wore a chain around my neck for a week or so
Then I wore two around my neck for a week or so
Then I wore three around my neck for a week or so
Then I wore pants with straps occasionally for a couple weeks
Then I wore pants with straps with chains on them occasionally for a couple weeks
Then I wore pants with just flat out chains.

And since I didn't do anything really bad like graffitti or insult teachers, they let me. I broke them in ^^

Although it did take several months of being on my tip-top behavior.

My school is pretty liberal, although anything that remotely reminds teachers of drugs, sex, violence, etc. is banned or forced to be removed.

Heh.. in elementary school we had to wear uniforms, and one particular day all of my little skirts were dirty except one. I had to go out and feed the horses, and one of them decided to spit all over my skirt. Not wanting to wear a horse saliva covered skirt to school I threw on a pair of jeans and went on my way. I wasnt allowed to participate in school activities, like my band class, because of it.

Middle school, no more uniforms! YAY! Alas, on St. Patricks day I drew a little clover in between my collar bones. Had to go wash it off while other kids ran around with marker all on their faces.

Now, high school. Completely bogus. For lack of better terminology, preps run around with shorts half up their asses and tank tops on; and I get singled out for a pair of shorts that are more conservative than the majorities entire wardrobes.

Yay school dress codes! blaugh

.....no. xd

My school encourages preppiness and does anything, ANYTHING to keep us goths out or try to conform us to immitation preps. Cause of course I'd LOVE to be a slutty cheerleader who has no real friends, and all my 'friends' are backstabbers *eye roll*

I've gotten written up for:

Wearing chains
Wearing skulls
Wearing a spiked collar
Putting on distracting makeup ((see eyeliner thread on mainpage))
Wearing a shirt that promoted violence ((AKA my "Got Your Nose" shirt))
Wearing platform boots with too high of platforms that go too high on your legs
Wearing a headband (no head jewlry)
Destracting and potentially dangerous hairstyles (it's just chopsticks in a ponytail I wore one day 0.0))
Having too destracting of earrings
Bringing food ((I was hungry and had Jolly Ranchers in my tunk[purse]))
And destracting the learning proccess ((In other words, I contributed an idea that everyone hates: communism.))
And drawing in class (I was all done with my work and the teacher wasn't talking. I even got detentions for that)

I guess freedom of speech doesn't apply to outcasts stressed

you should have told here i will go to the office because its not doing anything wrong so i don't see why i have to wash it off so there for i will not i will take it up with office . Its not like i wrote b***h or anything like that on my face so i don't see any reason as to why i can't have it. That is what i told my teacher when they said i couldn't have a pull over jacket to school and it was just a plane black jacket it was like 15 out side. it didn't say anything on it so i told them i didn't see any problem with it and i wore it everyday of school in the fall and winter just because they told me i couldn't wear it and they never did me anything.

it got so annoying i left my school, and now i'm trying to get into another one.

i've gotten in trouble for doing things like reading too much (seriously, WTF?!), and other random junk, but never for what i wore, because i didnt pick out my wardrobe. oh, except once, i wore a wristband with a skull on it and everyone assumed i was suicidal, which really ruined my day. i got sent to the counselors.

i hate my school so much!!!!
the whole school funding goes to athletics (wich all the preps are in)
none for art.
a teacher made me go to the office for a tank top
i was wearing, while a prep in a spagetti srap walked right past me
WTF!??!?!?!?
we have an art teacher that dosen't even teach us about art.
all she does is make us watch G rated movies.
and she has to buy everything herself.
wich is usaly torn up by the other kids in the class
'cause they don't even care about art and there just there for an easy A.

eek WOAH!!!

I've read though about everything so far and I must say that is QUITE unfair what all of you can't do. Another thing is...it makes me love my school even more!! Let me explain. At my school, I've seen people get away with:

exessive peircings
mowhawks
ripped/torn clothing
skirts over pants ((mwahaha I do that!))
low cut tank tops
miniskirts
exessive makeup
chains/studs/handcuffs
and there are about 20 couples standing around making out on campus
baggyclothing
I've seen a Torture Killer shirt too XD and a crapload of other band shirts
so....

arrow COME TO CALIFORNIA AND GO TO WEST RANCH HIGHSCHOOL!! exclaim
