I used to think yaoi was disgusting. One of my friends was a huge j-rock fan and she would always show me pictures of the guys. I thought they were cute and my yaoi obsession began. blaugh

There was a time, from when I first found out about Yaoi (about 8th grade) up until about...the beginning of my last year in HS, when I really did not like Yaoi. I didn't like it because it really, really bothered me when people put two Characters I liked from a manga or anime, who clearly weren't gay, together as a gay couple. I hated it and it grossed me out. My now favorite Yaoi couple used to be one of the couples I hated seeing the most. sweatdrop
But then something happened, I don't know what, And I came to realize...that it was really...really hot. And each person had a right to what they thought was hot, right? So it stopped bothering me, and I just kinda ignored it's existance. Then something else happened, once again I don't know what, and I started loving Yaoi. And that's where it has left me. I love yaoi. -^^-

hmmm.....I've never hated yaoi...Although in the beginning I never knew what it was and then my friend loaned me a fanfiction of hers and one of her manga's and I just dove right into it.

sweatdrop Well, the first fic that I ever read that had BL material in it weirded me out at first but then, within a few minutes I was completely okay with it. I've loved BL ever since. Yaoi is a little bit iffy for me because a lot of times it just isn't handled correctly. [{The majority of plotless smut makes me gag}]

Even thought I am a gay male and have know that since I was like 10, I was a bit "afraid" of YAOI in the beginning... it felt a bit ankward, but I don't think it was the guy x guy thing, more that hentai in general was something knew. My beloved characters in those situations.. NEVER!
But I couldn't help looking for more and soon I was addicted, hehe. I didn't know there was so much gay stuff around really.... so I was happy ^_^

I thought it was interesting. Though at first, when I was reading FAKE, I couldn't quite find a word to describe it... Until my friend was talking to me about it and said "isn't it hot?!?!" And bam. I was hooked. >.>

When I first discovered it I was against it. That may seem odd, but it's true and I have a reason. I was searching fanart and I somehow came across this VERY graphic picture of Itachi raping Sasuke. At first I didn't know they were brothers and I just got scarred by the graphic parts of the picture. After that I just got grossed out about it everytime I thought about, but then I came across random pictures of cute pairings and I started gradually getting back in....I'd also like to add that I am against incest rapings...it just seems wrong to rape someone who is your own flesh and blood.

I don't think I was ever against it. I love it. I went to a pretty liberal high school and that kinda shaped what was offensive and what wasn't to me. Pretty much everything was accepted and that changed my worldview. Before that, I didn't read much manga. I thought it was all for little kids, but my one friend got me into yaoi and I haven't stopped reading since!

Not really.....I kinda got into yaoi through slash (the western equivelant), so I guess you can say I fell into it sideways through a similar genre, so obviously there was no initial replusion ^_^
