It's very close, for me. But I probably won't pick up a book at all, if the artwork is crappy. I'd think the story wouldn't be good either.

Both but if I had to choose, probeley the story had to be going somewere but im picky so if the story was perfect and the art wasn't half way decent automatic off BUT! If the art was amazing and the story was going nowere, I would still be obsessed with it emo My sad sad ways So I guess art prevails in my veiw

I like both, but prefer story. It let me imagine situation and characters how I want while art can be sometimes bad -coughcoughlikeminecoughcough-!!

Definetly both. I mean sometimes the story is better than the art and the art is better then the story and I lose intrest. But I don't think it matters. Both are great, like your poll said -- can't have one without the other. And that's extremely true.

Well not having one or the other can really ruin it for me so I'd have to go with both confused

If the art is terrible, I can't really read or watch a manga, When the characters are drawn in the chibi style so much that they look like children (this happens a lot in Naruto and Harry Potter DJ's), I can't read it. That sort of thing freaks me out.

SilverMaple Would it be picky if I said that to me, both are considered important? sweatdrop I guess because I am an artist and writer, I place importance in both aspects.
Although, if the artwork is so-so but the storyline is mindblowing, I would definitely still read it. Unless the artwork is the "OMG! NUUUU! MY EYEEEEES!!! gonk " kind, then I would probably put the book down.
Now that I think about it, in the end, it's yaoi, screw the plot, where's the boylove, right? xd
But I still love it when a yaoi manga has a good storyline. Unless they're meant to be smutty oneshots. mrgreen
Gee, I'm rambling, aren't I? ninja =^_^= Tsuki so totally agrees with you!!!

I have to go with art. If the art is crap I don't care how good the story is I just can't read it. I'm strange like that I suppose.

I love the artwork. ^^ Usually I am drawn to a good manga by the artwork that keeps catching my eye on the shelf. But it does have to have a good story although most likely if the story was horrible and the artwork was good I would just stare at the pictures. >< Plus I would probably end up drawing the characters anyway..so..no waste! ^^

Gotta be both! I don't really feel like reading about two hideous guys rolling around in the hay together, even if the plot leading up to it is pretty darn amazing. But I don't want to read about two beautiful lovers that have really big plot-holes in their story and stuff...Athough there are some exceptions xp
