Quella Fehtan
Quella spun at the cries from behind her. She took in all the wigglers at a glance: Kerras stuck in a little box, then Eiylas getting sucked in right after them? This ghost was playing dirty! It didn't want to face her one-on-one, so it was attacking the wigglers before finishing her off? The blueblood seethed with rage, frustrated that bringing the wigglers along had put them in harms way. If only she could see the damn thing so she could beat it! "I'll be right there!" she cried out as she prepared to charge the position, and rip the box to shreds if she had to.
Then she heard the giggling.
The blueblood couldn't help the smile that spread across her face as she watched the wigglers frolic. "Alright," she said, grinning at the three of them. "You got me. Good one." She couldn't feel that oppressive presence from before, watching them. Maybe it had finally moved on? She took a few steps, trying to find a way to venture deeper into the library, when she head a squeak from behind her. Then a crunch. Then a slow grinding sound as the entire floor of the library began to sag. She whirled again, just in time to see Kerras vanishing down a seemingly bottomless pit.
Time seemed to slow down as the blueblood felt herself act without thinking. She vaguely realized she was already moving, already diving to the edge of the pit, already closing her hand around the heel of the tealblood's tunic. Even before she'd thought, the blueblood held the young troll in one hand above the endless black of the catacombs. Her chitin pressed against the split wood planks of the floor as slowly she reeled them back in to safer ground. "It's ok," she heard herself saying. "It's ok. I got you."
Quella sat Kerras back on steady wood, head still spinning with the sudden change. It had been so fast. She'd barely made it in time. Still, she had made it.
"I got you," She said again, quietly. Mostly for herself.

Kerras Farron
The black pit yawned beneath them like the maw of a beast, as the decrepit hive prepared to swallow them. The tealblood's mind was blank, just an incoherent whirlwind of half-formed terror. They plunged towards the abyss, bracing themselves for pain and a hard landing. The landing never came though. They jolted in midair, something snagging them by the back of their tunic.
“It's okay. It's okay, I got you.”
As they were pulled to safety, they threw themself at their saviour. Faced buried in the blueblood's furs, their arms encompassed her in a fierce hug. Their pump biscuit hammered in their chest, and for a moment longer they could not think. When ten seconds passed however, they finally released their grip on the blueblood. Rising to a feet, they bent at the waist. They dropped into a deep bow, ponytail flipping across their face.
“I owe you a great debt, Quella Fehtan,” they said. They tipped their head back and raised their eyes to meet Quella's, expression serious. |

Quote: 7: HAZARD: There's a loud BANG! from elsewhere in the mansion, and the room shudders.
"Pssh," The huge blueblood hissed, shrugging her shoulders. She was still shaking. It wouldn't do to have the kids see that. She kneeled down, patting the little tealblood on the head carefully. "You don't owe me anything, you little goober." She grinned at Kerras. "Just doing my best to keep the pack together." Quella could still hardly believe how quickly everything had happened, how suddenly she'd moved to grab the tealblood. It had almost felt like she wasn't in conscious control of her own body. Still, it felt good, knowing that she could be fast when she needed to be.
She turned to the other two kids. The entirely library was starting to make her jumpy. "Hey, if it starts to looks dangerous, we'll get out of here, ok? And if you end up in the catacombs, I'll try my best to find you." Quella nodded at them, sure that she could catch them now if they started falling unless the entire room was falling with them. She was interrupted by a massive BANG as something hit the ceiling. The entire room shook with the force of the blow.
Something was mad that Kerras hadn't fallen. Quella could feel the house, it's attention turned on the small group. It felt... hungry.

Being pulled into the box was the last thing she expected to have happen, yet here she was. In a box, with Kerras. A possibly haunted box! She had been in the process of showing off her possession to Floren when Eiylas was pulled in. "Eeeek!" Her voice came out a little shrill, as she was pulled into the box.
For a moment she was batting on the sides of the box out of fear, seeing if she had to fight off a ghost in order to get out. At Kerras' confession though, Ely began to giggle hard. "You dorko! What was that for?!" A big grin crept its way onto her face. Yes, this was fun! A great story to tell Chaeng, the haunted box! Then she could find a box and haunt her sister with it! Perfect!
When she poked her head out of the box after Kerras and waved to the others, she did so just in time for her new friend to start falling into the floor again! "Watch o--oh!" Well then! Looks like Quella had it all under control! Or not! Given how she sank into the floor herself now.
It was too late for Quella and likely the closeby Kerras, but there was still another member of their party she could help. "Floren! Floren get out, quick!" As she tried to call out to her compatriot and stumble out of her box, Ely became tangled up in herself, sending the box toppling to its side with her still inside.
THUD
A moment of painful silence passed, as Eiylas sat in horror. Just waiting for the floor to fall apart. Yet it didn't come for her. Then? She laughed. She laughed and laughed and laughed. It took a few moments to realize that her teammates managed to save each other, and she laughed even harder. Call it pent-up nerves, but she felt like she needed a good laugh as she crawled out of her box.

Everything was happening so fast and so much. First Kerras almost fell to what very well could have been their death, then Quella saved them, then the floor shifted again- and Eilyas was calling for his attention - he realized the wood plank he was standing on was barely holding him up and quickly skittered the rest of the way across it. The rotten wood crumbled as soon as his weight was off of it, falling into the depths below. He looked to Eilyas, busy laughing her head off... Nerves? Probably nerves. He was very nervous too but refused to show it- nope. He was grown up, after all.
Floren picked his way carefully over to Eilyas. "Thank you for the warning. Are you okay?" He looked her over- nothing visibly wrong but... you never know, right?

Makkah walked over, making sure Philip was okay. He seemed to be in Kwelin's capable hands so she laughed it off.
”Woah there, this place is set to drop any second! Gotta be a bit more careful there, Philip!”
She rubbed her nose confidently as she walked over, leaning on a bookshelf with a conceited sneer.
”Any one of these things could start t-”
She was cut off by the bookshelf giving under the small bit of force she applied and falling over in shambles, and her with it. She began to rise when the pile began to shift slowly, moving towards the center of the room with some ominous moaning from the underneath the floor. She slowly sat up, wincing from the splinters she felt all up her arms. Slowly raising them and pausing while she assessed whether or not the floor was about to give out, she finally let out a breath of relief.
”...That...was lame...”
