He had been swimming for so long... He missed the feel of the air on his face, the water was cold, and it was so, so dark down in the depths of the ocean. Camlann sighed, longing to return home to the world above, but steeled himself in his commitment to see the quest though until the very end. Then he saw it, a light, a warm, bright light that seemed so comforting in such a time. The stallion began to swim towards it, wishing to bask in the warm glow, though he quickly shook his head and cleared his mind. He needed to focus on the task at hand.

Roll response: 18. No one told you how cold... or dark.... it was going to be this far down. For some reason, you're feeling particularly sensitive to the deep dark ocean waters. You start slowing down, unsure how much further you can go. Courage, men. Courage. Now where did all your friends go? +2 point
Camlann continued to swim along thought his bones ached from the cold water that surrounded him and penetrated him to his very core. Perhaps it was because they were so much deeper now that he felt so much more sensitive to the very apparent chill that ran through him. He didn't recall feeling this chilled when they had started the journey. With a great huff, the draft stallion pressed on, refusing to slow for any longer. There was work to be done.

How he hated riddles. He was a male of action and strength. He was never inclined towards reading and books, and he didn't consider himself particularly talented when it came to challenges of the mind. He was better with battle strategy and physical training, and now he was expected to answer a riddle, lest he becomes some foul creature's lunch? Camlann huffed in irritation, contemplating the answer to the serpent's presented riddle and gave the creature the answer it so desired. He would not be some foul beast's lunch today.

After finding his way back on to what he thought to be the path, Camlann noticed with some great concern that he felt the current strengthen. He quickly swam away from the vortex and did his best to find the path once more.

Roll response: 14. You come upon a giant squid, and try not to get lost when he's startled and inks his way to safety. -1 point
Sharks, Riddle telling serpents, whirlpools, Camlann was almost afraid to ask what else was down here that could make this quest even more of a frustration than it had become. Of course, he shouldn't have asked, for he had jinxed himself. Just as he was swimming along in the great deep blue of the ocean, Camlann noticed something move and turned his head, only to get a face full of black, inky water. He quickly shook his head to clear the ink from his eyes and did his best to keep from getting disoriented by the surprise.

He was miserable now. He had had ink blasted in his face from a frightened cephalopod and the ocean continued to go on and on, deeper and deeper. He couldn't even see the sun any more and whatever light that reached down this far was faint. The water continued to grow colder the deeper they went. Still he had to press onward. There was no way he would give up. In fact, he didn't think he'd be able to leave the ocean until this task was finally completed.

As Camlann swam along, he felt a sudden strong pull in the water. He looked about him confused as he was forced backwards. There were no signs of some creature grabbing on to him and trying to make him into a snack... Camlann pressed forwards, only to be pulled back in the current. With a curse, the stallion forced himself out of the tug of the current and found a way around it. Now he had to recover lost ground...er... water.

He almost jumped at the sight of the sharp, jagged teeth from the impressively large maw that was before him. Camlann knew when it was best to retreat, and this moment was a prime example of when to make a speedy getaway.

After escaping the angler fish, Camlann continued to swim along in the deep dark, only to make a sudden stop as a sound caught his ear. It was something bubbling... But what? Almost as if to answer his question in the worst of ways, a jet of blisteringly hot water shot out in front of him and the stallion moved back so he could avoid getting burned. An obstacle he would need to lookout for in the future, he noted.

Camlann was honestly surprised that there was kelp this deep in the ocean. Unfortunately he had the great displeasure of finding himself the prey of some deep sea hunters in search of a meal. He was quick to retreat and find a place to avoid their hungry eyes, hiding where he could. Camlann would do this expedition little good if he made himself someone's dinner.
