Marcus was surprised to see Mr. Reyes subbing for another one of his classes but took it in stride. Harvey seemed to not like him because he had kissed Missus Floros but as long as he had apologized ( if she hadn't wanted to be kissed) Marcus found no reason to dislike the teacher. His only complaint was Mr. Reyes never seemed to answer his questions. Well that and, even though he liked Mr. Reyes a lot, he still liked Mr. Sharp a lot.
But since this wasn't Mr. Sharp's class, a substitute meant not as much work and notes. And Marcus, who was actually having trouble keeping up in this class, found that made him smile.
Less work? Now that's kosher!
The thought made him think of his Bubbe( his grandma), who had been the one he had picked his phrase up. ( well her and her gaggle of cousins) He wondered what they were doing, he hadn't been able to talk to them as much since he wasn't home anymore. He couldn't just fly or take the train to Kanto for a weekend.
Maybe he could call them when he got home. Bubbe didn't know much about using computers but his uncle and cousins surely did.
Sitting down next to Elijah ( since they had entered the class together) Marcus tried not to look too surprised when the teacher brought up homework. They had homework? It was due today?
Well he certainly wasn't raising his hand. He didn't have any homework to show. ( maybe he could say Kirsi's growlithe ate it? Seriously everyone said 'the growlithe ate my homework' was a tired excused but Marcus had never heard it used so maybe it would work.
Maybe he could blame Kirsi's pokemon on the fact that he was always behind in this class?
What had he been doing last class anyways?
Oh yeah getting in a yelling match with Kirsi and getting chewed out by Harvey and sticking his bare hand in an ekans nest afterwards ( look, it seemed like a good idea at the time okay?! Okay. )
Honest to God, Salamance girls were just all sorts of trouble for him.
He felt relief shoot through him like a medium class narcotic when the teacher didn't seem to have any intention of collecting or grading the homework. Good, he had some time. Maybe, just maybe, he could catch up.
The teacher didn't really say much as far as lessons went. This suited Marcus just fine as he started to make lines in the margins of his notebook to pass the time. The notebook had remained mostly empty. He had gotten through class so far by borrowing notes from other students and studying them. The abhorrent note taking and handwriting in the front stood testament to the few times he had tried and failed.
What Mr. Reyes did do however was give them more homework. Marcus couldn't help but deflate a bit when he said he had to take pictures with his poke-gear. There was a reason Marcus used his phone to do everything. He had no clue how to use the dang thing! And..wait, they could zoom in and out? That was a thing?
Sweet Moses I'm deader than a Magikarp in fishin season.
He kept these thoughts to himself as class was dismissed right after. Putting his notebook and pen away and shouldering his backpack.
"Hey Eli...ya..um..ya mind if I borrow your notes?" he said a bit sheepishly "I'm kinda hella behind...yaknow cause I wasn't here last class"
His pokegear decided that moment to go off ( although oddly enough so did Elijah's) and Marcus fumbled with the device for a bit before finally figuring out just what it wanted out of his life.
Okay maybe he was being dramatic..the device just drove him up a wall sometimes
He smiled however when he saw the message was from Evelyn. A dedenne nest? He got to stick his hand in more borrows with pokemon in them? Heck yes! He was all for it.
"First meeting for research club" he said looking excitedly at Elijah "C'mon Evy's waitin on us"
-Exit when Elijah is ready-
