His firework complete, Rojo slowly looked up at the man who had addressed him. The Independence Town citizen was shirtless, painted half blue and half red, and had a rather manic look in his eyes.
"Can I light it?"
Rojo hopped to his feet, gratitude clear in his voice. "Yes, please!" He trailed after his savior and watched as his firework was lit. It screeched into the air and exploded demurely, earning cheers and clapping from those gathered nearby.

So far, the class was going swimmingly. Selene had tried to keep an eye on the students for as long as possible, but when no one seemed to cause any trouble, and fireworks were shooting up loudly and safely into the sky, she decided to allow herself just a little bit of leeway. She took a sparkler when a whooping female handed it to her, and began to shake it nervously in the air.
Oh, if only Argyle could have been here to see her make such merry!

A hand pressed down on Andrew's shoulder, firm and demanding. The grip wasn't something he would be able to avoid - and when he turned to look at who it was, he would find several very festively dressed officers with badges pinned to their suits, surrounding him.
"Excuse me son, I can see you're out of towners. We were notified of the presence, but we'd still like to ask you a few questions about what you just did with that firework there.."
He did not sound impressed, as the denizens had.

"What in the name of explosions happened to your BEADS?" Despite how she'd tried, Ruth's beads had not gone unnoticed, and the horrified cry caught the notice of one of the men who were interrogating Andrew. He looked up, narrowed his eyes, and gestured with a finger. Two of his colleagues moved through the crowd, towards her.
They didn't look very fun.

When the hand grabbed his shoulder, Andrew flinched. He turned to see... oh Jack. Really?
REALLY? Why? Why were they picking on him for just being that awesome. and touching him. Grosssss.
"Ahh..." Andrew's brain blanked out on him for a moment. They were allowed to be there right? Out of towners was definitely correct. Play it cool. Admit to nothing. "I made it and lit it up." he was not going to go into a full explanation of FEAR and stuff like that. He was definitely not going to admit he added a little extra fire to the rocket. "Is that not what were are supposed to do?" he dropped his tail down trying to let it burn low. Unfortunately, Andrew really did stick out like a sore thumb among these denizens, as he tended to with absolutely everyone outside of firelands. Between the wings, the horns and the tail that was literally on fire, he couldn't even pretend to blend in.
Being surround, Andrew didn't try to run away or fight... he didn't want detention. But he did squirm, trying to shake off the hand, lifting a wing and shoulder; wiggling before squeezing them tight to his body to try and seem less aggressive. The bumps and brushes from before hadn't bothered him but that was general crowd movement. This was not ok.

Ruth tried to back away from the attention, holding her hands out as if to say Look, no beads, whatchu talkin' about? Her lower lip was trembling, threatening to cry if they kept this pressure up. She may have also tried to hide behind Andrew, or at least one of the men interrogating him.
Everyone else seemed to be doing it, and herd mentality prompted the monster horse to at least attempt to blend in. Petro couldn't help himself. He'd gone and made a firework as big as it could go. Color-wise three seemed more than enough.

Excellent, that was what Tro thought as his creation soared to the sky, bursting beautifully as had the others.
Minion was good minion. Minion received a protective wing around her. This was his minion. She got pulled usually close, thought Blondie would be able to feel the raising body temperature, suggesting strongly Andrew was alarmed and ready to fight or flight if necessary.

The man leaned down until he was looking Andrew in the eye, and pushed down his sunglasses to stare right into the boil's eyes. His own eyes were starbursts; like little fireworks right there in his gaze.
"And what, exactly, did you light it up with? We've got complaints that you're tainting the air with a non-celebratory substance. If you weren't, you wouldn't look so guilty. So, why are you trying to get away so bad, young man?"

"Now, young lady, we're going to have to ask you to show us what you just did to your beads. We've got reports of a non-celebratory substance being used in the area, and we need to-"
Beside where Ruth had once been, a woman stared at her hands for a moment, before suddenly projectile vomitting. The crowd widened into a circle around her, trying to get away before they were hit with it.
"Troy, get the Freedom tape." The officer in charge ordered to the man who'd been speaking to Ruth. Then he pushed a button on a small device at his shoulder, a walkie-talkie. "I need all of Fourth and Fifth locked down right now, we're under quarantine people!"
"Fire sir." He was literally on fire. What did this guy think he lit it with?
Wait was that vomit?! Gross! Andrew's tail swung around moving away from potential liquid and his wings opened, every inch of him wanted to be in the air and above any potential danger.
"Jack, Gross!" This time his squirming was much harder under the officer's grip as he tried to tug Blondie away from the vomit. Fluid alert danger danger!
Meanwhile Carlos was making a firework. A small tiny fire work with lots and lots of colors. red blue purple green orange and yellow. A lot of colors ok. He was having fun see?
The firework sprung up into the air and splatter colors everywhere brilliantly. Look pretty! Carlos laughed in delight as he watched them spray everywhere. Yes this was good firework. It was much better being here as himself even if everything was so much louder.

Ruth clung to the bigger boil's clothes, grateful for the security of the demon's wings. The Independence denizen's eyes were... fascinating. Their intensity had Ruth's own pair of eyes sparkling in resonance. The stern demand for a demonstration was, thankfully (or not so thankfully) interrupted with projectile vomiting.
The blonde had to keep herself from laughing in amusement. Oh jack that looked awful and she enjoyed the reaction of those around the ill woman. She did, however, make sure to push Andrew out of the way, knowing his aversion to liquids.
Screams of joy and celebration were starting to turn into screams of terror. People were shrugging off their big glasses and feather boas, throwing them on the ground as they begin to turn grey and dissolve. Something had gotten into the air, and it was starting to affect the citizens of Independence Town.
And yet, strangely, it doesn't seem to be affecting the students at all.
More of the officers began to show up, but they were not coming any closer than the Freedom Tape that blocked off the area, and penned everyone in. They were simply there to keep things contained.
For now.

Camilla had just reentered the main area, when there was suddenly screams! And not screams of joy either... "Eep! Whats going on?!" she squeaks before looking around quickly at the panicked crowd!
It quickly became apparent what had creeple panicked! Their previously festive clothes were turning gray and one woman was even getting majorly sick! "Oh dear!" she exclaims before looking around quickly again! "Carlos!? Tro!?" she calls but her voice was drowned out by the screaming crowd!
Finally, Camilla felt things were really getting out of hand, as red white and blue tape was used to quarantine off the area! They needed to find Ms. Selene!
And she was just about to do that when she realizes her fingers and toes were itching all of a sudden... That's not good... "Ms. Selene?!" the Dormouse ghoul calls as she starts to try and wade through the panicked crowd to find the teacher.
