••• Freezing ||
◘ Frostbite || The magus must bite or sink their claws into their prey, or foe, in order for this spell to take effect. Their claws and teeth connect with a major vein and begin to freeze their prey, or foe, from the inside out. This could lock up a limb or, if they manage to hold on for long enough, cause the limb to suffer internal frostbite and need removal. This technique is similar to the bite of a snake and has limited uses. The magus must draw on the cold around themselves and channel it through their spirit to force the cold into a compressed bite or claw-grab. The longer they hold and the colder they bite, the more energy this requires. Using too much energy will make the magus light-headed and prone to attack. Most can manage only three bites before losing focus.
◘ Freezing Aura || The magus draws on the chilly air around them and slowly pulls the heat into themselves, forcing the air in the radius of a yard to become subarctic. The water under their paws freezes in a few moments, the air becomes so cold that any near them risk freezing their lungs. The magi use this technique to quickly cross bodies of water, freeze the lungs of their prey or foes, and to quickly cool any over-heating B'alam...or freezing someone that doesn't belong near them. Any water crystals also freeze nearly instantly and fall to the ground as hail. As this technique draws heat from the air, however little there is, this runs the risk of over-heating the user if used for too long. The less heat in the air, the longer the spell can last. At most (fathest north) a Magus can use this technique for 20 minutes before they begin to over-heat. As they near the border, this time is reduced. Right at the border, the Magus can go for about 7 minutes.
◘ Winter's Breath || The magus draws the cold of the air around them into their own body, reaching their spirit out as a spiritual net to bring the cold directly into their lungs on the inhale. When they exhale, they breathe a cloud of compressed, spirit-charged subarctic air. When breathed over prey, or a foe, it has the same effect on a small area as dry ice would. It's so cold it BURNS and can create horrible wounds if exposed for too long. A few seconds burns off fur, a little more burns skin, and prolonged exposure creates horrible, bloody wounds similar to those of a fiery burn. This requires a lot of energy to the magus and most can only handle two blasts of 10 seconds or one blast of 20 seconds before they need to catch their breath. They feel lung-frozen and may begin to wheeze if they push themselves. They normally recover after about a half hour.
••• Ice Manipulation ||
◘ Blizzard || The magus reaches out with their spiritual energy, freezing the water particles around them and sending them into a blinding flurry. Directed by their own breath, the Magus can send a blizzard raging in a single direction spreading for five yards fanning outwards. The blizzard can be blinding, chilling, and even leave thinner-coated B'alam with frostbite in their ears, toes, or eyes. The blizzard requires a good deal of energy both to freeze the air and direct the ice particles. A Magus can direct a blizzard for five minutes before the physical toll causes them to grow light-headed. Pushing beyond that could cause them to call unconscious for the period of a day or two.
◘ Ice Sculptor || The magus concentrates on a section of ice or fallen snow, compresses it, gathers it, and shapes it rapidly. They use their spiritual energy, molding the snow and ice through the ice and snow itself. This spell can be used to create art...or dangerous snares around them. Spikes of ice can be raised, beautiful sculptures can leap out of flurries, or walls can be thrown up. The larger the formation, the more energy it requires. Forming something as large as the B'alam itself will take as much energy as a short sprint, leaving the B'alam winded. The heaver the material (ie- ice), the more energy it requires. If a B'alam attempts to create too many or too heavy of creations, they risk exhaustion, muscle fatigue, or (in extreme cases) over-working their hearts to burst.
