"There's a lot. You best bet is just stay out of people's way and don't let them know you can read their lips."

"I'll keep that in mind," Olan signed, staring out the window once more to look at the sky.

Ah, yes, his ability to read lips. He usually used it to "listen" to conversations the guards usually had with one another, and they sure talked about interesting news and jokes and life stories. It was too bad he had a hard time controlling his laughter. The guards always stopped to look at him whenever he thought something they said was funny. At least they just dismissed it all the time.

"Who knows? Maybe one day you will get free Olan. I hope you do. but untill then I'm going to do everything I can to keep you safe."

Olan had looked back at Marco just in time to see his signing. "You've been doing a good job with that so far," he replied, though he can't help wondering how long it would last. Marco had kept him alive and well for years, and he was knew it didn't go unnoticed by anyone. "Are you ever criticized for taking care of me?"

Marco hated lying to the other so he didn't.

"Yes. More at first. Now people have just accepted that you're under my protection and I'm not going to offer them a reason."

Olan stared outside the window and saw that it was getting a bit dark. It looks like he was going to return to the cell soon... That was how every day ended, if he ever went outside, that is.

Marco stacked his papers and looked at Olan. He got up and touched his shoulder.

"Ready to go back?"

The touch on his shoulder brought his attention back to Marco, and upon being asked if he was ready to return, he reluctantly nodded. He knew he would have to go back eventually.

"Can we get something to eat, first?"

He nodded. He lead him to the dining hall. All the other prisoners were already in their cells for the night so they were mostly alone.

As usual, the dining hall looked rather bleak, dirty, and empty. It was probably to be expected, since this was a prison camp and prisoners aren't usually supposed to have the luxury of eating in a fancy dining hall.

Marco got food for Olan. He came back and placed it in front of him.

"Here you are."

He signed to him.

"Thank you," Olan signed before he began to dig into the dinner. This was probably another thing to be thankful for. He was eating decent meals with someone he was comfortable with. Who knows how the others were doing?

Marco smiled a little as he sat with Olan. He really did enjoy having Olan around. After working there for so long Olan was the only one he was really close to anymore.

Olan tried to eat as slowly and with as less suspicion as possible, just to avoid going back to his cell for as long as possible. It was an incredibly lonely place, after all.

"Is something wrong? You're eating very slowly."

He signed.
