The old man frowned. “It appears your father was far more intelligent than previously thought if he did what I think he did.” The old man growled. Edward growled back baring his sharp canines at the man angrily. He would not have the man who had taught him everything, his father even if he had not been really insulted. The two twin like angels glared also and even the agent speaking with Kaz turned to look at the old man.

“How do you intend to stop them should they attack the troops?” asked another agent further away from Kaz or Edward.

“Number 13 is only disabled for a short amount of time, he regains his senses I assure you.” The old man said. “It is the only way we have of stopping him. We cannot have him running around throwing people as he did earlier.”

(its okay I understand)

Slowly, as if by some zombie-esque trance, Kaz shoulders began shaking and short, hiccuped giggles rolled off his tongue. "My father wasnʻt an idiot," Kaz mumbled quietly as he stared at the man, his iridescent sapphire eyes literally glowing with suppressed anger. "You hired him, didnʻt you? You obviously had to know that he was an intelligent man. Trust me... he taught me everything that I would need to become a successful scientist by the time I was four." That was actually true, since Kaz had the entire elemental table memorized before he entered pre-school.

"But donʻt worry... Edward wonʻt hurt anybody," Kaz smirked quietly as he placed his hands firmly on his hips and shifted his weight onto his right foot. "If he does, you may use your little toy or whatever." With that statement, Kaz turned slightly to face the angel. There was a look in his eye as if stating, ʻDonʻt do anything to require the use of that weaponʻ.

The agent before Kaz turned back to face the man as he began to giggle surprising everyone including Edward and his sisters. The small group of angelic like beings smiled as Kaz defended their father. “We knew exactly how intelligent he was, we just didn’t expect him to protect his creations quite so well. It seems he thought ahead.” The old man said.

Edward looked to Kaz curiously as the man said that he wouldn’t hurt anyone. A growl erupted from the dark feathered beings throat as Kaz agreed to let them use the weapons should he hurt anyone. He knew Kaz meant it too when he turned around with that look that told him not to do something stupid. “Well then now that we have that settled. I suppose we should head for that training now and three and four can finish healing you.” The old man said motioning for Kaz and the three creatures to follow him.

When he turned to follow the older man to the training facilities, Kaz grabbed Edward by the arm and walked along side the angel. "Sorry," he murmured sheepishly under his breath. "Sometimes you just have to play the cards youʻve been dealt, even when your hand it bad." They continued on, Kaz remaining silent the whole way. Anything that either Edward, three, or four may have said went ignored the entire way. The boy was thinking. To him, this entire thing was a game of chess. He was the Queen, the one piece on the board who could move anywhere at any time as far as he wish. But, as the seconds ticked on, his standings as a piece soon began to decline lower and lower to that of either a knight of a pawn. Edward was the King, obviously. The trump piece that needed to be protected no matter what happens. On the opposing side was the old man and his army of agents. And Kaz had played right into his trap. Or did he?

Edward stood with his sisters following the old ma with the prompting of the agents behind him. As soon as he got close enough to Kaz the man grabbed his arm. “Cards?” Edward questioned a bit confused.

“we’ll explain later brother, when we can show you.” The two twin like angels said smiling. Edward nodded and turned back to the front but from the corner of his eye he watched Kaz. It seemed the man was deep in thought, and for the life of him Edward couldn’t figure out about what. He wanted to ask but he didn’t want to disturb the other. Upon reentry to the facility the two twin like angels were led away back to where ever they had been called from. Edward and Kaz were led into a separate room that was quite large in size. The room seemed plain with nothing in it, but Edward could already detect things wrong with the walls of the room.

“Here is where we will be training but first I think its about time we got a full reading on number 13’s capabilities.” The old man said.

Upon entering the room, Kaz already saw the flaws in the walls. He saw the hidden trap panels, he saw the slightly elevated areas where contraptions were hidden. These agents either needed a new facility, or they needed to hide their weaponry better. He knew something was wrong, and he knew that Edward knew that, too.

"Go get ʻem," Kaz mumbled quietly as he backed away from the angel to a section of the wall that was seemingly flat and safe looking. After patting the wall down, he didnʻt find any loose panels or any bulges. It was safe for him to stand on that spot, for now.

Edward looked back surprised as Kaz told him to go get ‘em. Giving a soft nod he walked to the center of the room watching as Kaz and the other moved back. Licking his lips nervously he looked around having no idea what the men were about to try on him. “Alright run through course…” the old man paused thinking. “Course 12 then run the beams.” The old man called. An affirmative came from somewhere above.

Anticipation ran deep through Edward’s body along with panic. What was going to happen what was he expected to do? Everything quickly made itself known as suddenly panels in the wall around him flipped over revealing some form of weapon. Shots were fired and Edward quickly rose into the air to avoid the shots. “NO, use your power, its that we want to test not your flying. Skip the course, BEAMS!” the old man shouted. The panels that had opened flipped back over making the weapons disappear. Edward didn’t land however, something in his body screamed danger. His instincts were right because in the next moment a portion of the ceiling and the floor which were directly above or below him shot towards the dark feathered being. Giving a gasp he pushed out his power mere seconds from the portions of ceiling and floor from crushing him. Giving a soft grunt he pushed upward and downward with his power to force what the old man called beams apart. “Turn up the power.” The old man called again. “Steadily incease it I want to know how much he can take.”

The first two notches in the upping of the power Edward had no trouble holding the beams at the same points he had them. But the more the power turned up the more Edward found himself straining against the beams that threatened to crush him. He could feel his power flicker in exertion as he had never used it for more than small things. Doing what he was doing was quickly exhausting him but he pushed more of himself into it.

When his head began to hurt, Kaz sank to the floor and buried his head in his arms. He had watched all the way up until Edward began to use his powers, then he had to stop watching. His head was hurting way too much. He only knew what was going on by what the old man was saying. Turn up the power this, steadily increase it that. This guy really didnʻt know how to take care of an angel, did he? As the power increased, the pain in Kazʻs head increased also. All the boy wanted was for it to stop, but he made no move to tell the old man otherwise. It wasnʻt like he would listen to his moaning anyway, right? All he cared about was his stupid little training program.

But finally, he couldnʻt take it anymore. "Stop it already... youʻre going to kill him," Kaz mumbled into his arms as he looked up at the older man. "Whatʻs the point of testing his limits? We all know that Edwardʻs limit is death. Itʻs the same with all mortal beings." What Kaz was saying was true, but he was pretty sure that the Old Man wouldnʻt pay him any mind. He was just the scientistʻs kid. He truly didnʻt know anything in the old manʻs eyes. But thatʻs where the old man was wrong. At the age of seventeen, Kaz had already graduated from high school and was a Senior at Yale studying human behavior. He knew a lot of things that this guy didnʻt.

Edward was luckily he hadn’t heard Kaz tell the old man to stop because had he heard it he would have stopped and been crushed. The old man barely turned to look at Kaz when he spoke but he did look at the man. “We have yet to determine if the creatures are mortal besides with number 12 who died at creation.” The old man informed. “Turn it up again.” The old man called turning away from Kaz. It was true that the old man underestimated Kaz but that was because he didn’t care to know the boy or his father really. If he had ever even listened to one of the old man’s stories about his son he would have known how intelligent Kaz was.

Whoever was behind the control turned up the strength on the beams again. Edward strained more as the beams threatened to crush him, he could feel his legs shaking with the strain. Sweat created a soft sheen over his body as he tried to push more of himself into his power. It was only moments later that everything gave out and he collapsed. The beams came together crushing whatever was in the way of them.

"They are mortal. They were created in the human image with human feelings," Kaz mumbled. The pain increased as the dial turned higher until he was literally smashing his head against the back wall and screaming bloody murder. He couldnʻt stand the pain anymore. The strain it was putting on his body, the pain that it was coursing through is veins at the moment... just the thought of what Edward was going through was enough to drive Kaz up the wall. "Stop it... please, just stop!" Kaz begged the old man, his fingernails ripping into his scalp.

The sound of the beams smashing together send a new shock wave of pain rippling through Kazʻs body. He wasnʻt sure if it was psychological pain or if it was real physical pain. He felt himself screaming, but he couldnʻt hear himself anymore. He wasnʻt sure if he was dead or not.

“You can stop screaming now.” Came a soft voice, “its alright brother is fine” continued the soft voice. Two sets of hands placed themselves on Kaz’s chest.

“Remind me again Azrael why we haven’t left yet.” Came a different voice. In front of Kaz sat the angels which the old man had classified 3 and 4. Their hands lay on his chest with the soft blue glow surrounding them.

“Nuriel we haven’t left yet because we were waiting for him to come for brother.” said yet another voice. All around Kaz stood 11 individuals all female some with wings and some without. In one of the females arms the one that had been called Azrael was Edward unconcscious.

Kaz had to force his eyes open when he heard the voice tell him to stop screaming. How long had he been screaming? Where was he? Who were the people around him? He could only pick out three and four in his scope of vision. The others that were talking were alien to him; unknown. Slowly, the boy sat up and smiled gratefully at the twin angels.

"Thank you, but Iʻm not in pain, trust me," Kaz whispered quietly. Then he looked around, since he could get a better look at everything about him. He saw Edward, unconscious in one of the other girlʻs arms. Frankly, the boy wanted to run over to see if the angel was alright, but he knew better than to do that. "What happened... was he crushed?" Kaz asked quietly as he continued to stare in the boyʻs direction.

“You think I would let our brother be crushed after the twins saw what he was doing to him?” another female questioned. (the last one in the without picture) “As soon as we figured out where he was we came and a good thing to I got him out from under those just in time.” The female said a bit haughtily.

“Uriel don’t confuse him.” The twins said softly. “Uriel can make portals she put one under brother as he collapsed from over exertion. The most he got was a small bump on the head.” The twins continued pulling their hands away. “These are ours and brothers sisters.” They explained.

Slowly, Kaz began laughing with the other girl that the twins had addressed as Uriel. A portal creator. Father had created some very useful creatures indeed. "Thatʻs good... I swear that Old Man was trying to squish him flatter than a pancake for a second," Kaz mumbled quietly under his breath. "Uriel... the Angel of Creativity... Father gave you fitting names," the young man sighed as he stood up slowly and walked over to the angel carrying Edward.

"When will he wake up?" He asked her. He could tell that he was much younger than she was, and she was much taller, too. He figured that this angel was addressed as Azrael, the Angel of Death and Destruction, but he was unsure. He didnʻt want to get it wrong, either.

“I don’t think he had intended to squish Brother, he is very keen on testing our powers.” Azrael said looking to the unmoving old man. “Father named us all after angels.” Azrael continued to explain. “Brother should wake up soon, he just threw too much of himself into his power. Ah see there he is.” Azrael commented softly as Edward seemed to be waking up.

A soft groan passed the dark feathered angels lips as he stirred then ever so slightly. The first thing he became aware of was that he was being held by someone. “Az?” questioned Edward a bit confused. Then looking around he saw Kaz and the rest of his sisters. “Kaz….” Edward questioned again as Azrael set him down, then he saw the old man and the agents frozen. “Malik you froze time again?” Edward exclaimed.
