Shigeru smiled but then looked at the ground, thoughtfully. Shige had never heard of such a thing but nothing had ever shown him that what Ayaki said was a lie. Everything? Shigeru looked back to the tree that Ayaki had shot her arrows at. There was life in the trees? Shigeru turned to look back at Ayaki. Shigeru then though about his abilities and thought about how they could be connected to the river of life. Shige sat infront of Ayaki with his legs crossed and looked at his hands. They were shaking a bit due to the Gate of Healing's effects. "Do you think that river connects us to our family members?" Shigeru said looking at his hands, recognizing how it was that he sounded.

Carrot paused then reached out and took one of his hands, holding it between hers "We are all connected by kami. It flows through everything in a continuous river." she said firmly then took his hand and put it on his chest, holding it there with her own hand "The river connects us always to our family. But our blood is what binds family. We are never alone because we have the racing blood of our parents and our ancestors. They are always with us, even when they are gone. In death they return to the river and become once more a part of us." she pushed on his hand "Every heart beat is echoed in the river by every person who lives. Every breath is taken into the river and used to fuel life. Nothing is never connected so nothing ever ends." she let go of the hand on his chest and put it on her chest "Everything!"

Shigeru kept his eyes on Ayaki's face as she took his hand in her's. They felt small and delicate. Shige's were surely rough underneath his gloves. Ayaki took his hand and placed it against his own chest. Her words brought a warmth within him. Although teh snow beneath them was cold, all seemed unimportant as Ayaki explained how they were connected to their loved ones. After death Shigeru imagined two people standing together, holding each other. They were Shige's parents. Shige could not see their faces but he imagined them as strong and loving. Shigeru smiled and looked at Ayaki. His expression was radiant, as if he had undergone a revelation.

Carrot made a sideways face and then pat Shigeru's cheek sharply a couple times "Honestly. So confusing." she pushed herself up and dusted off her knees before putting her hands on her hips "Now. Are you done with your training?"

Shigeru looked at Ayaki with a confused, not knowing what she meant. I didn't...say anything. Shige saw Ayaki stand and dust herself off. He slowly stood as his thoughts returned to the present. "Oh, no. I wanted to try a few more techniques." Shigeru said nodding as he looked for the second scroll in his coat. After he found it, Shige looked up to Ayaki. "I can resume later, though." Maybe she's tired of being out here.

Carrot shrugged "Just finish up then. I have nothing else to do." she said and turned slightly to walk to a nearby tree. She sat sharply with her back to the tree and her arms crossed "Go ahead. I can wait till you're done." she spoke, her eyes focused on him.

Shigeru smiled at the sight of Ayaki going to sit by the tree. She would wait for me? He shook his head as he looked down at his scroll. It had the techniques for the next Mirror Image style. Shigeru then looked back up to Ayaki and spoke out. "Hey, Carrot. Are you sure you're alright doing nothing?"

Carrot nodded "I'm quite all right." she took a deep breath and closed her eyes as Shigeru set up for his training. Her hands rested in her lap as she began to perform a slight breathing exercise, sending her mind into a state of silence.

Shigeru watched Ayaki nod and nodded himself. Ok. Shige readied himself by taking a stance, bending his knees and placing his hands in front of him.

Shige began to focus his chakra the way he always did. He gently concentrated it over his right arm. He steadily continued adding more to his arm, building a reserve.

He let a layer of chakra pass outside his skin while keeping a layer under it as well. This was the way he prepared for an after image. Shige's focus began to concentrate the chakra outside his skin, increasing it's density.

Shigeru was now ready to perform the technique. He had gathered the right amount of chakra in his arm for three, solid after images. He bent his knees further, lowering himself to the ground a bit more.

Shige shot his right fist upwards in an uppercut, a driving punch powered by his legs. After his punch reached the extent of it's reach, Shigeru unleashed the chakra in his arm, a third after a third.

An after image of Shigeru shot out of Shige's arm and continued with a jumping uppercut, ending with a spin as he faded. Then another image appeared, jumping further into the air this time before fading in the same fashion as the one before. The last image shot up into the air while spinning for a penetrating final blow.

Shige settled down after his last technique. This next technique required a different type of chakra concentration. It would be his most complicated technique yet.

Chakra began to build in Shige's right leg. The level of concentration was greater but the amount of charka was less. This technique called for a partial afterimage.

Shige followed the same pattern that he had when preparing for these techniques. He pushed his chakra out of his leg, just outside his skin. The amount of chakra below the skin, was not as great as the chakra outside.

Shigeru slid his right leg back, his chakra focused. He then raised his foot off the ground, knee bent and drove his right knee forward in a diagonal motion. His knee stopped after it's quick jab.

As his knee had moved forward, the chakra had been released for the leg, creating the afterimages. When his knee stopped, three images of Shigeru's leg trailed behind each other. Three images appeared instantly, fading just as quickly as they appeared after performing their copied action.

Shigeru lowered his leg and began to stretch. He had just a few more techniques to master. "Just a few more.." Shigeru said to himself as he stretched his legs by spreading each and leaning on it.

Carrot's eyes were closed as Shigeru trained, her fingers linked together and thumbs touching slightly at the tips. She didn't seem to notice the cold gathering around her butt and thighs, her focus totally on controlling her thoughts. Snow was starting to fall again gently and coated her hair in white.

Shigeru put his hands together in order to focus his chakra easily. He now had to use a technique that used the most chakra concentration. A solid, complete image had to be made.

He focused his chakra to the outside of his skin and placed a layer under his skin as well. Shige continued to push his chakra outside of his skin. He kept his concentration not letting it leave him.

Shigeru then began working on solidifying the chakra outside his skin. It would have to be flawless or else it would be pointless. It was difficult keeping the chakra sustained under his skin.

The concentration of the chakra outside Shige's skin became so high that Shige's frame seemed to reflect the light slightly, almost like a glow. This technique not only required chakra but a speedy movement as well. Shige kept his hands together, keeping his focus.

After gathering enough chakra outside, Shige held it in position. He then added to the chakra under his skin. This would serve as the inside of the image, adding volume. Without two layers of chakra, the image would only be two dimensional.

The chakra being settled and held in place, was ready to be expelled. Shigeru then waved his arms once, forward in order to create momentum that would move him back. Shige slid back as an image of Shigeru still holding his hands together stood in his place. There it stood for a few minutes before it slowly faded, the chakra dispersing.

Shigeru took a deep breath before turning to face Ayaki. She was still patently sitting against the tree she had settled on. Shige walked over to her, carefully watching her focused expression. Her hair was being covered in snow. Ayaki looked like a statue of an angel sitting under the tree. Lovely "Carrot?" Shige spoke softly in order not to shatter the silence.

Carrot blinked, some snow falling of her head, and looked up at Shigeru with a dull look. She opened her mouth "In the average lifetime, a person will walk the equivalent of 5 times around the equator. Odontophobia is the fear of teeth. The surface area of an average-sized brick is 79 cm squared. According to suicide statistics, Monday is the favored day for self-destruction. Cats sleep 16 to 18 hours per day.The most common name in the world is Mohammed. Isaac Asimov is the only author to have a book in every Dewey-decimal cat...e...gory..." her tone was strange for a moment and everything she said sounded like one huge run on sentence. She paused and blinked a few times "Sorry, Shigeru. Are you done?" she blinked her eyes a few times and her voice went back to its normal pitch as she stood. Snow fell in piles off her shoulders "I was meditating..."

Shigeru crossed his arms as he he listened to Ayaki's words. He tilted his head slightly to the right as he his face became curious. It was still snowing so Shige had to blink in order to keep the snow from entering his eyes. Equator? "Yeah, I think I'll leave it at that for now." Shigeru said, nodding. When Ayaki stood, the snow that had piled upon her had fallen off. She then explained that she had been meditating. Shigeru nodded, uncrossing his arms. "I know how that is all too well. You did your traiing for the day?" Shigeru asked, unsure of her plans.

Carrot held up a hand, looking away "I've learned all I can at my level. My training was completed before I left the Academy." she slipped her hands in her pockets and glanced up at the now falling, her chest heavy. All her thoughts, random words that made no sense, different outcomes to different scenarios, thousands of numbers...My head hurts... she closed her eyes then sighed looking at Shigeru again "What do you want to do now?"

Shigeru felt impressed with Ayaki. There should be no question why she is Chuunin. He watched Ayaki as she faced the sky. All was cool and still except for the falling snow. Shigeru felt solid as if made of stone, or wood. It was the cold that had seemingly created a shell of frost around Shige's body. Shigeru wondered about the strange things that Ayaki had said. He could only make sense of a few words while the others sounded foreign to him. What an affliction. Perhaps it's a gift of some sort. "Why don't we take on any assignments that are available?" Shigeru said crossing his arms once more, he could feel the frost stiffen his shoulders. At her level, we would be able to accept B ranked missions
