Your local scene?

West Texas is ska-dry. We've got plenty of guys screaming in their sister's jeans, though.

However, Less Than Jake came through in February, and Captain Bringdown and the Buzzkillers have stopped by before. Both shows were dismally empty compared to those of bands like Bowling for Soup, who, unfortunately, puts on at least one show every year.

Wouldn't it be great to live in a place like Michigan or Ohio?

You know, the scene aroud MI overall is pretty damned tight. I love this giant group of bastards, I mean I've never met someone in the scene whose been like, a d**k or really hateful or whatever. Everyone is really nice, and loves to get down and dance with you if you're up for it too. Lovely group of rudies up here. (One in particular I've got my eye on. ;D )

D.C, man.. not too much ska up here.. mostly punk, as far as that topic goes.

I was just in DC....I went to the Black Cat

DC and neighboring areas (Arlingtion, Alexandria, just about Northern Virginia) is mostly metal. There's a fair share punk, and some pretty decent oi bands, but as far as ska goes we're pretty bone dry.

I remember seeing a ska band at the U-Turn, but they weren't very well received. The Warehouse, Strangeland, Jaxx, just about anywhere you go you'll only see techno and metal. A damn shame, if you ask me.

Even worse is that we don't get a lot of tours going through here, I'm told we've come a bit notorious as bad crowds.

Oh,damn...I've undertsand 50% of your posts crying ,but I can tell you how the italian ska scene is,here in italy.In my opinion,there's a lot of good ska bands and artists here,and I suggest you to listen 'em:I'd like to have your(all members wink )opinion!The most famous ska band here are STATUTO,they make music since early 80s and I suggest you to try listenin' to RISKATTO,based on Italian cover versions of English ska bands hits by the likes of Madness, Specials and BadManners etc.
Another band I like is GIULIANO PALMA & THE BLUEBEATERS,playing since early 90's.My fave album from bluebeaters is THE ALBUM(not kiddin',this is the name smile ).Moreover I propose you a great italian artist,named ROY PACI(now he plays with a band,called ARETUSKA).He opened the last italian concert of the Godfather,Derrick Morgan biggrin !!!Other names of italian ska(and also raggae)bands are:AFRICA UNITE,REGGAE NATIONAL TICKETS,FRANZISKA,AL & THE MASKALZONES,EASY SKANKERS,MATRIOSKA and much more

So I'm trying to pick up the local scene in my town.
I'm pretty close with the State wide Local Scene.
Not so much with the Town.
Now I've Started a band.
We're Called Super Automatica[subject to change]
We have some demo's that will be up..Soon-ish

We've [some of the band members and I] Started
DLS Records.
Are aim is to bring Ska to Lafayette Louisiana.
And to help our friends get promoted.
Right now we are just Starting but The first band to sign may be a close Friend in St. Petersburg Florida .

Yes I do. I've seen them twice already. I saw them at the Mustard Plug show and then I went to see them in Scottsdale last Thursday. It was really fun. Have you seen them at all?
