Haleth nodded and stretched after hearing Crimson's voice. He watched how the fairies played and how they tried to make the sheikah's dressing more complicated and slow. But the man was swift in his moves, he was gentle on taking the fairies to get them out of the way every needed time.
He looked at him until he ended and exited the hut with his last words, telling him to pack and eat, that they were leaving after that.

In fact he had nothing to pack, because it was already packed since they left Ordon. So he dressed quickly and ate his share of the meal, cleaning the plate with a rag because there was no time for a proper rinsing and cleaning and it was not nice leaving it completely dirty.... it would make the small hut stink when the Sheikah came back, and well, he didn't want that.

After that he went outside, looking a last time inside before closing the cabin's door. He then joined the sheikah at the pond, where he washed himself a little bit with a torn rag and when he was clean he put his tunic on and secured it with his belt.

"I'm not enough sure I'm ready for what we'll face, but I can say I'll do my best to be up to your hopes, Crimson"

He hung his small backpack onto his shoulder and then he carried the shiels to his back, he buckled the sword's belt onto his hip and took that bladed rod of his that would act as a walking stick as well.

"I know you've been ready for this since long ago. I'm ready to follow your guidance to the dangers that await ahead for us"
He said those words as he stood beside Thara, the desert stallion of the sheikah. He was scared, unsure and nervous, but he somehow knew that man had all his hopes put in him, and he had never wanted to displease anyone.

He gently patted the stallions strong neck and caressed its mane of black hair. The horse looked at him with that gentle eye that seemed to understand his very soul and nommed onto his red hair.

Fask and Sade flew by around the sheikah and then to the horse and the hero's head.
"Are you coming with us as well Sade? Or are you staying to keep Crimson's place safe?"

User ImageThe wind blew through the trees. It whistled ominously through the leaves as evil continuously moved through the forests. There were ancient places here that could not be affected but that was natural. Jan-Jan watched the edges of the shrubbery. When this was over, he would have to take Haleth to the castle town. He supposed on the way they would learn of their next destination although Jan was sure he knew what it'd be. There was an item that they would need from the mines. The gorons weren't friendly with humans and even Sheikah couldn't penetrate their mines as they were. He would have to go through their city, obtain a tunic, and then.... But that was a ways away. They would have to focus upon the task at hand. He still wasn't sure how Haleth would react to seeing the state of the outer forests, let alone the feilds of Hyrule, the expanse of the chaos that took over the land.

Jan felt his eyes close and automatically he heard them tenfold, the spirits in anguish... They cried in agony as the darkness seeped further into the forest. He was unresponsive to Haleth when the man decided to join him by Thara. All at once he reopened his eyes and with trained percision mounted Thara with ease.

"Its time Hero." He whispered again as he pulled the big man before him upon the steed. Said flew away to the lake and disappeared in the broken log at its center. Fask on the other hand darted into Haleth's hair. For the majority of the tim spent near the hut before departure there had been silence. The weight of the situation pressed upon the Sheikah. Haleth knew not of what had become of the outside Ordon's province. The Sheikah's hut was on the West side of the Ordon outskirts and was highly protected by ancient Sheikah and Fairy magics. He didn't await Haleth the convienience to steel himself before he whistled. Thara shot off like a rocket, the thudding of his hooves upon the gravel changed as they shot off into the wood. It was as it was now that the Sheikah stabilized Haleth and held the man to himself. The Sheikah's body was tense, alert as if at any moment an attack could strike.

For awhile the path before them was nice and healthy. Birds flitted out of the path of the thuddering hooves of Thara. They continued like this for some time, but slowly the trees started to be mangled, singed black and broken. All at once they reached a clearing where the grazz stayed knee high. Thara refused to move onward. The horse sensed it. The darkness that radiated from two directions... one was the road to the ordon line to Hyrule feild... the next was a small cave that was barred by a fence. Between both the paths was a hut and a strange man, and his parrot. They had a fire going and a latern... That could be useful.

"Haleth... you see that man. See if he'll give us that latern and some oil for it. I am sure he'll name a price. I can see fine in darkness but you cannot. I will deal with the fence." His voice whispered to Haleth. He needed to dismount with caution, the man and his bird had not yet seen the Sheikah. It was better that way.

"He'll give you directions to Faron, your first task is to make it to the Oak's clearing. If you make it there you'll pass. If not well, the forest is not kind." with that Jan removed himself from the horse and into the grass... he seemed to disapear even with such an attire. The lock on the gate broke and the only evidence the Sheikah had been there was the clean slice through the metal and an open gate.

Fask remained to buzz around Haleth.

"You heard him! Let's get a latern, we'll also probably find Jellies that give oil and other neat stuff so lets do that first. Oh and it seems He took his things and yours. He left your sword and sheild though and look a bag! Oooh this is nice! Its from Boar skin... Go hero go!" Fask cheered on...

As for Jan, he made his way into Faron woods from a path that was hidden to the edge of the clearing. The cave would take too long but Haleth would most likely travel that path and Jan wanted to Hero to learn from this experience. Haleth needed to know how to get places wihout him, as well as get around obsticles such as the one he was looking at.

The once magestic Faron woods had become a Miasma of poisonous fog. Of course the fog only covered up to seven feet above the ground and anything above it was safe. Where Jan perched on an ancient tree he could see the hidden Moblin's skulking. He could observe the pattern of Keese bats as they swooped. In the center of a tall oak stump, a poe was haunting and further on the Moblins had created swinging hammer traps for any who decided to avoid the mist. They never looked up though. No one did.

The many trees that once populated this area had dwindled to the few left standing. Bug like creatures moved with an invisibility camoflauge upon them. Haleth would have problems if he ran into the swarm... Jan felt his stomach twist and his cowl slipped slightly from its position as he awaited sight of Haleth. He would watch him from out of sight and observe him. This was the first trial, and he would not go easy of Haleth just because he was new. Yes he would intervene should it become truely dangerous but... for now he left it as is. Far to the east upper corner was a gate guarded by two Moblin Axemen, one must have the key to it. Surely Haleth could figure that out.

When he heard the sheikah finally speak, he grabbed the man's arm and Crimson raised him and he mounted like the day before, in front of the cowled sheikah. Haleth watched how Sade returned to the small pond, hiding into the trunk of the lone tree perching over the water, the place where it was hiding whn they came. It was something sad, he had hoped the red fairy would have come with them.... but then again they could not be travelling with all the fairies they found on their way at once, their lights, although beautiful, would make them perfect for ranged attacks.
He then felt warmth on his neck and his hair being messed pulled and played with, and kney Fask was hiding there, surely also sad to be departing from a friend.
And then he whistled and the magnific steed almost flew over the ground.

This time Haleth was able to control his gut easily. He had already mounted Thara when they came to the sheikah's cabin so he knew or thought he knew what to expect. And this way, tre trif although fast was easier. Crimson's arm had a tight grip upon his waist, pressing their bodies together, securing him... but as well as securing, it felt warm... and enjoyable... it felt like it was right for that strong but slender arm to be embracing him. He smiled at that warm thought.

But his smile faded as the landscape changed. The land was dry and the trees seemed ill. Was this what that evil was causing to the land? Or was this only the start of it all?
He could feel the muscles of the sheikah tensing when they approached the clearing, and then there was Crimson's warm and... sweet... breath as the man spoke, whispered to him.
Haleth listened to the sheikah's instructions, and when he was aware of it Crimson was no longer there, he was mounting Thara all by himself and his confidence trembled a little bit.
It was then when Fask untangled herself from his hair and encouraged him, and so he slowly guided the horse to where the man was standing. Curiously it was the parrot the one that noticed him and told the man.

"CUSTOMERS! WE HAVE CUSTOMERS! IT'S CHEAP IT'S CHEAP!!"

Haleth smiled to that.
"Good morning mister... Could you mayhaps tell me the good way into Faron woods...?"
The man looked in his direction.
"Ah young Hylian... not many come this way these days... I could certainly give you directions... but would you me a favor as well...? The way to my house is past this cave and the lights into it had long been turned to ashes... and the cave is filled to the brim in monstruous bats and spiders. You have a sword... would you be so nice as to clean and light the way for me?" the man said, handing him the oil lantern.
Haleth took it and nodded. He dismounted Thara and took his shield and the sword. It still felt strange in his hands... and heavy, but if he didn't use it more it would always feel that way. He patted Thara on the neck.

"You're a fine steed.. will you be able to find Crimson on your own? That cave is to low on the ceiling for me to walk you into it. Go, find Crimson!" he said and spanked the rear of the steed, who ran away... luckily to where the Sheikah was.

He then went into the caves with the light of the lantern as well as the soft green tinge of the fairy's light.
The bats were indeed big and his sword was not the best thing for getting them out so he looked for the stone lamps he had to lit and found some branches.
He dipped a branch a little bit in the oil and lit it, saving the lantern for later.
He had a hard time killing bats with the sword and those spiders... he ended killing those throwing rocks at them. He had a nice accuracy.

When he made it to the other side of the tunnel/cave, the man was already there and Haleth was sweaty and had some scratches of the rabid bats' talons.
He returned the lamp to the man.
"50 rupees and you can keep it with the half content of it it has... or 120 rupees and I give you an extra charge for it... i'm sure a lamp will be handy into those dark forests you're headed to, young Hylian..."

Haleth ended by paying the 120 rupees. He luckily had found quite a bunch in a nest into the cave, some corvid nest.
The man gave him the directions to Faron Woods and Haleth followed them, his sword always drawn, heavy in his hand. The sweaty tunic sticking to his body. He wanted to get rid of it, but he forced himself to endure it. it offered a minimum camouflage in the foliage, better than his bare skin would.

He made it to the woods almost an hour later... and to his surprise the black steed was grazing in a clearing.
Further ahead, the woods were covered in a strange fog, a strange and ill loking smelly fog.

"Look it Hero!" the fairy said flying around Haleth and then around the steed's head "Thara has come to get us here! Thara waited for us!!"

"I see it Fask.... what I don't know is what that ill looking fog is... it's really smelly and too high... it will cover us completely once we walk into it... and I think it would made us pass out in no time..."

He awaited upon the Oaken tree's knarled bark. His body remained on the lofty tops of the canopy waiting for the Hero to appear as he hoped he would. It had been quite awhile since he had left him. He was starting to become antsy but just as he was about to move himself, a form entered the clearing. It was Thara and shortly after a scrawney man with his bird. Had he asked something of Haleth? If so then it would explain why it was taking so long for a simple trip through a relatively short cave.

Haleth did eventually appear and the sheikah lowered himself to the brush above. He wouldn't allow Haleth to catch him but he hoped that the boy was sensible to know the nauxious fog could be a potential hazard. He also hoped that Haleth could figure out a way to the gate... Jan's red eyes followed Haleth shortly before he relocated. His powerful legs springing him higher into the branches and further until he secluded himself along the cliffside and quickly worked his way beyond the locked gate and further into the clearing. A Bridge hung from one side where the overland pass had been decimated by Gannon's comand. He went further until he passed another hut where that old man must have resided but for now he worked his way to the entrance of the oak. He went unnoticed and settled himseld over the log like opening. His slender form fitting comfortably into the tree.

he was calculating how best to approach the dangers within the tree itself. The Gohma should pose a signifigant threat but still Haleth was inexperienced. That face faced the south end where enemy patrols were moving and beyond that to the hidden path to the sacred meadow. He would have to pick up their pace if Haleth lagged too much. They hadn't much time.

He hadn't much time.

A moblin group was patrolling the fog ladden forest. The fog didn't seem to affect them much but it hindered their sight signifigantly. They had been told that enemies could come at any moment but none had been to Faron for a good long while.

"Lookit Hero" fask said "I can fly over the mist... but it's really stinky and I can't possibly carry you across.... Fask is not strong enough...." the fairy flew around Haleth and Thara.
"Thara can't go through as well if we don't find some way to get through this mist... or at least disperse it a bit...."

Haleth took the shield off his back and used it to vent the air, like if the shield was a huge and heavy fan.
"Useless.... it's too tiring and the fog gathers so quickly again." He sat on a rock near where Thara was and looked to the mist, then to the sky. There were tall trees in there where the mist was, but he had no means of going up them without entering the mist. He looked at the sky once again. There would be almost no moon that night, but it was still early, it was still morning.. although there seemed to be some darkness that seemed to come from nowhere but from everywhere.
He decided to lit the lantern, it had a soothing light and he had another oil charge for it.
Haleth walked to the fog to have a closer look and to his surprise the fog seemed to disappear and escape from the lantern's light.
"Fask, Thara.... follow me close..." he said taking the steed by the reins and walking to the mist, his arm straight in front of him. The fog dispersed and they could walk into the mist.

"Fask will fly over the fog and guide he Hero! Fask can be useful too!!"

And so Haleth walked through the poisonous and smelly fog holding Thara by the reins. At first the steed was refusing to walk into the fog but Haleth managed to make the animal follow treating it with some berries he had gathered in the wood before.
Fask guided him and after a while they got out of the fog.

Haleth then mounted Thara with some difficulties and feeling not too confident, but he managed to make the steed move at a not too fast pace. But that was until the steed seemed to pick a smell and followed galloping like the wind.
Haleth had no other way than to hold himself tightly to the horse's mane and pray not to fall from it.
Thara had picked Crimson's smell and was following it wildly, eager to return to its master.

It was getting a bit lighter through the forest clearing but he couldn't find it soothing. He could sense it... the omninous feel of the infected that lied in wait for the light to pass through. There seemed no solace here and though the sacred meadow was not far... it too had its own ordeals to face and to clear. As for the old oak itself, the Sheikah was situated on top of its massive trunk near its top. He could see from here the widespreading forests of the kokori, and the reclusive jongo fruit trees that marked his people's precious resting place. Beyond the eastern ridge was their waterfall for the Sheikah and their most sacred villiage still remained enclosed within the mountain pass that was embedded into the outskirts of the forest temple's west side. Evil never went there, yet darkness and sorrow always periferated the dwellings of their people... empty feeling were houses and used only for breif rest.

Somewhere below he knew the hero was coming... he was nervous but if it showed no one could see it. Inside the oak was a large passageway into the main atrium and from there it split off into multiple rooms all with various tasks at hand. Keys to open doors had been messily scattered and a weapon resided deep within the oak. No doubt to be used against its main enemy. Something else was bothering the Sheikah about this place though... He had yet to see the monkeys that played here. He could feel their spirits but in what condition he was unsure... it was disconcerting the fog that was hazing over him from the dark lord's influence here and though he could see perfectly fine through the illusion... it was hard not to make his presence noticed by the darker eyes. Should he be revealed no expense would be spared to track him down... should Jan be caught his mission would be all for naught as Haleth would be... No! He would not allow for failure. He would go himself if need be and risk Haleth finding his own way than to lead his hero to the hands of that man...

If Jan were caught and if he failed to escape... or if they decided to terminate him right away... His mission would be a disaster. He feared no death, but more he feared the Hero wouldnot completely have a guide to light the way... he feared failure.

He heard far off with his keen senses the gallop of Thara and as the horse drew closer the tree loomed over the Hero as if a shadow of death. It was now that the figure was so menacing. Haleth was carried forward and He, Crimson, dropped from the tree to land with practiced ease before his master.

"Welcome to the oak, can you feel the unease within it? A great evil lurks within... one that has stolen Faron's light. " Standing before Haleth Crimson seemed smaller...

"Even if you manage to clear this tree of its evil and retrieve Faron's light... there is no guarentuee that the woods will recover swiftly. Too much damage from years of the Dark Lord has carved away at the patron tree and thus destroyed many... The moblind you saw... Many travelers are killed so not many come to the forest anymore. For us it is a curse and blessing. Come hero we must begin. Its time for more training."

User ImageHaleth dismounted the best he could, his legs a bit num from the savage ride which he was not used to at all.
"We seem to have made it quite safely up to here..." Haleth smiled and then looked at the enormous and ominous looking tree. it seemed more a huge building than tree... 'cause its size was.... astonishing to say the least, and he found himself looking at it, his jaw dropped.
"I don't think I'm ready for that.... but there's no turning back isn't it?" he seemed worried, and it was normal for him to feel that way. He had seen things he never thought he would have seen and he was more than sure that what had happened up until now was just the tip of the ram's horn.
The soft and calm voice of the Sheikah took him away of his thoughts and fears and made Haleth turn to him. Fask had flown to the cowled man and had buried herself under Crimson's bandages.
"I'm... not ready... butlet's get at it... we're short in time aren't we?"
He tried to put a bright smile on his face but it could not mask the real emotions running through him..: fear -for himself nd for other Hylars-, worry -for what would happen next, for the Sheikah's injury- and anxiety.

Jan Jan:

"There are many things woven in heaven's net and we are just one of them. For us, there is no stopping what is to be. Everything is excepted... Nothing is expelled."

He expected Haleth to take surprise at the oak but it was strange the amount of it that showed upon the Hylian. You would think that having lived in the forest for so long he would be familiar with these scenic things but once again the Hero surprised him. Then again if Haleth hadn't even stumbled upon the more magical parts of the Faron woods and if he hadn't known of Gannondorf's evil, then maybe it would be surprising to see this beauty.

"Believe it or not Hero, this tree was far larger in its prime, some believe it was the first. The Moblins have been stripping it of bark for their encampments in the deeper reaches. These forest's are the last strong hold against the Evil King and his legion. So he is trying to have his troops get deeper and deeper. At present there are forces holding them at bay but the Kokori are not fighters. With their patriarch weakened... it will be only a matter of time. The magic in the wild will weaken and when it does... fire will ravage all of this." His red gaze looked not to Haleth but upon the now reduced tree which though grand was now only a glimmer of what it once was. Maybe he would have felt some form of stirring anger but he couldn't allow emotions to cloud him. Not when he had to keep his wits about him, he was a Sheikah and that meant he would not allow weak feelings of the heart to affect him.

He thought over the way Haleth was acting, it was normal... The man had only picked up a sword yesterday... It would be no walk in the park from here on out and without the master sword... It shouldn't be a big problem still, orders were orders.

"Not so fast Hero," He turned his hand and gestured off the edge of the tree's pathway. His expression was a stern one but he knew that Haleth would need this little push. The man needed to be able to move without him there. The test of the first forest was just that... a small test and Haleth surpassed his expectations and even brought Thara through the mist. The sacred wood would be a harder challenge. The Skull Kids liked to summon puppets, and they preferred their quarry in pain. While it was true that they didn't have the supplies nor time to heal any of these wounds that he knew Haleth would sustain. Haleth would just have to learn to deal with the pain and while it made some knot twist deep inside him... Jan knew that Haleth would have to get used to this discomfort.

I am truly sorry Haleth... but this has to be done. I just fear that your amazement will fade soon enough. He took a moment in his mind to clear the thought. Yes, Haleth was his life, his work, his future, but Haleth's future did not have a Sheikah in it forever and his own kind frowned upon the equality of Hylians and the Shadows. It was hard to remember sometimes that he was a Shadow too when he looked to Haleth. He knew better than to listen to the man's words and the actions from their previous night's encounter was still striking some raw nerve.

"You have to make a stop first before you can even think of taking care of this, I am afraid that though this challenge is not the darkest of perils to come, it will still need to be addressed with the proper tools. Beyond this chasm is a pathway to the woods connecting the Kokori woods to the more enchanted woods of the Fae. You will need to cross this chasm and reach the inner sanctum of the forest. I am sure if you play nice with the more mischievous Skull Children within the thickets... you should find your way just fine. You may need your sword for this. As for me I will go and scope out how much the oak has changed." He sounded playful almost in his hints to Haleth and even made a point to avert his gaze with a rather fat looking hen that was picking to get the last of the grass seeds. He made a gesture to Fask in the meantime.

The fairy came to him all to willingly and he whispered soft so Haleth would not hear it.

"Fask, the Skull Kid will attack you and him, the illusions in the Grove are heavy and many... if you get lost you won't be able to retrace your steps. Listen for the Kid's trumpet and follow it as closely as you can. Once the skull kid gets hit three times he will lead you to the outskirt ruins of the Temple of time. He will once again need to be hit another three times. He will use his minions to try and keep distance from you so keep an eye out. There will be other obstacles but this is all I can lend you for now. Keep him safe Fask... It isn't just the Hylian's who depend on him... you and I as well." Fask buzzed affectionately and with a more serious tone than normal.

"I understand Crimson. Fask will do her best! Don't you worry, I will get Haleth back... You just do what you gotta do." The fairy accepted a tiny thing from the Sheikah and stowed it away quickly. Just in case Haleth did fall... this would be able to at least get them out of there.

"I will meet you at the Temple Haleth. It will be the moment of truth for both you and I. Until then, do not panic... you have practiced hard and the opponents here will be difficult but not impossible. I have faith in you." Crimson stepped forward and handed a flask to Haleth. Spring water to keep him hydrated before he stepped into the shadows and sprang up into the higher limbs like a nimble cat. His mind was buzzing already with worry and they hadn't even begun this quest.

User Image Haleth listened to the soft baritone voice of the sheikah telling him of the oak and its past splendor, and about what will become of it and the rest of the forest -not to speak to the rest of the creatures and hylians and all life known- shall they -him- fail. That strirred his nerves and tied them in a tight messed up knot. He fought the sensation of the world whirling before his eyes and the need to rest his back againt a tree and slowly slide to sit on the diminishin grass; he gulped, pushing the bitter taste he felt in his mouth down his throat.
He felt a sweatdrop running down his spine and nodded, accepting the flask of spring water Crimson handed him and thanked his hand for not trembling like a leaf oh stormy day. He put it into a pouch he had attached to his leather belt.

"So, beyond the chasm I follow the path into the deepest parts and look for the temple." he nodded. "Fine. You know I'm not really confident with the sword yet... but I'll do my best to get to there the least beaten possible...."
Haleth smiled. A shy and embarrassed smile as he scratched his nape and checked he had the sheath properly belted to his back.
"I suppose I see you there then...."
He raised his hand in a kind of goodbye and watched how the mysterious coiled man disappeared into the shadows graceful as if he was really a whisp of air.

Fask flew to him and around his head and hovered in front of him.
"Fask will be helping to a** much as Fask can! Not worry Hero, Fask will warn if danger comes. You Hero protect us all, so Fask will be the one protecting the Hero now that Crimson is not around"

Haleth smiled at the enthusiasm of the fairy.
"Thanks so much little one... I'll be in need of any help I can have I fear..." he started walking the path the Sheikah had told him to follow. The air was damp and cold... but it felt somehow thick. The smell of the forest was really intense... but it had a tinge of decay that he did not like at all.

Jan Jan:

"There are many things woven in heaven's net and we are just one of them. For us, there is no stopping what is to be. Everything is excepted... Nothing is expelled."

Jan watched Haleth with sickened sense of fear. He feared for Haleth but he had to let Haleth do this on his own. If he sat beside Haleth all the time the man would not grow strong, he would grow dependent.

"I am so sorry Haleth." He whispered into his hands after Haleth disappeared from view. The Sheikah's crimson gaze kept a watch upon the path Haleth went down and had to chastise himself to get going. He would have to follow his words and have faith in Haleth but it was hard knowing that Haleth only had one day in sword training. Luckily Haleth had done well and luckily this would only take Jan a max of an hour then he could monitor the progress of his charge. The dark skinned male took himself to the very top of the tree and searched downwards for openings. He found a suitable opening and contorted himself to fit into the darkness below him. He used his sixth sense to try and pin any enemy that may appear before him.

The room held an empty chest and in a corner he found what he was looking for. He placed the item in the chest and started to scour the other rooms, he locked some and sealed others. He needed this experience to be trying for the hero. He needed Haleth to be pushed through this. Each door he went passed, each enemy he spared was hard upon him. He wanted to take them all out but knew that if he did... that Haleth would not benefit from it. He did notice that there were plenty of plant monsters and spiders, but as far as moblins went there were only a few.

He noticed something else as well... the monkeys were caged, and that was odd. Usually the monkeys were led by a king and suddenly Jan knew exactly what had become of the boomerang that they needed. He would need to take Haleth through the forest temple next to get the bow before they went onto castle town as well. Little details he had failed to connect. When he was satisfied that the hollowed and evil tormented tree was perfect for Haleth, he left it as he came. He was surprised that the enemies were so oblivious to his presence but then again, Gannon wasn't really focused upon this area in particular. In fact, he had his hands full with the other races more so that the slowly dying forest.

When he emerged into the dense canopy he took a second to enjoy the air, but it was hard to with his brain so filled with calculations and anxiety. This was not a good start but he would hide it fine. His gaze rested on the small birds that still chose to loiter in these bleak areas before he sprung from the tree tops. He landed upon the other side of the chasm and started into the lost woods. He could hear the music of skull kid but with his eyes and his bloodline he didn't need any guidance through the maze of foliage. He took to the trees though when he heard the music closer. He hid into the shadows and watched as Haleth ran through below him with Fask in tow. So he hadn't gotten through yet but then again catching Skull Kid for those with Hylian eyes was no easy task and somehow it calmed Jan that Haleth was struggling. He seemed unharmed thus far and for that Jan was grateful.

The Sheikah trailed Haleth from then on silently monitoring him and Fask.

The first moblin Haleth encountered on his way made him jump backwards and almos fall on his rear. It had come out of the folliage and the dense trees that grew almost wanting to choke the pathway and it was viciously running after a small fluffy critter, a fat gray rabbit. The moblin was surprised seeing him as well; neither of them had heard the other coming 'cause one and the other were running: Haleth trying to cover as much distance as possible trying to locate the faint sound of the music and the moblin after his prey. Haleth was the one that recovered of the unexpected surprise and thus he had the upper hand. He defeated it although not that easily; as he had told to Crimson, he was still not too comfortable with the sword.
The hardest part for Haleth, though, had been killing the moblin, seeing the life escape from him, the dark blood spilling from the messy gash he had managed to cut in his throat. He had hunted rabbits and wild gooses and turkeys... but this was not the same. The moblin had fought him, and although brutal, he knew the... monster... had a mind of his own. The foul stench of blood covered the mesh of fresh and ancient smells of the forest for a while as Haleth stood there watching the corpse, it got mixed with the acrid smell of his sweat and it turned Haleth's stomach. Flashes of what happened in his rage when he had fought his way to recover what he first had thought was Crimson's corpse, the blood, the dense and choking smoke, the sweat, the fear, he almost bathed in blood.... Haleth ran to the nearest tree for support and emptied the contest of his now upset stomach. He felt a bit better after that, and then he realized the tiny fairy was there with him, by him, holding some of his hair out of his face. He wiped his shaky hands of whatever they could be dirty of in the rear of the tunic and cupped the fairy in his hands.
"I'm ok now Fask... don't worry.... don't worry. Don't tell Crimson about this, ok?" he said in a soothing and a bit embarrassed voice.
The green fairy nooded and bounced up and down and urged him to resume their way, the smell of blood would surely attract other moblins or wolves or other dangerous and wild animals living in the forest. Haleth looked to the tree tops, looking for Crimson's familiar yet difficult to spot silhouette. He saw nothing and no one, so he thought the sheikah was still doing what he had to.

He pressed forward on his way, running in a more careful pace after that first unexpected encounter. He could hear music... it seemed a flute, and he supposed that was the sound Crimson had spoken of. But... did he had to locate it..? follow it? avoid it..? At the moment he didn't remember, so he pressed forward and his steps slowly were carrying him towards the source of the sound.

"You play awhile, and then some more, and maybe we can play forever!"

Quote:

Who was his prey, who was his playmate, who was the one seizing the day? Why him of course, Skull Kid was the seizer and anyone who came to play would be so too! Today he was so very lucky for many people came to play with Skull Kid and Skull Kid was so very excited. The strange creature blew into his trumpet and from the trees the dead leaves created strings of puppets. These puppets attacked the moblins that had tried to get into his forest. His secret play place and when Skull Kid was done Skull Kid would win and the bodies of the Nasties were left to be devoured by the magical forest. The trees would eat them, they would. They would be gone by midnight, they would. Skull Kidd giggled and moved onward to the front of the forest and saw before him a Nasty, but with the Nasty was another Nastier Nasty. This one was alive but what he didn't understand was the Pretty that circled the Nastiest Nasty. Perhaps Nasty-Nasty was really a Pretty? Yes that must be it! This was Prettier Pretty! Not a Nasty-Nasty. He giggled and moved from branch to branch overhead of the Pretty and the Prettier.

They weren't Nasties and yet they play no song! What Pretties had no song. For awhile he huffed and a strange enraged purring noise erupted into the heavens. He leapt from the tree after the Pretties had followed him to a tree with an overhanging warped branch.

"Teehee! No music?! You no play for Skull Kid, but Skull Kid play for you! Play with Skull Kid, we play game! But Strangies my prove to Skull Kid they not Nasties! Skull Kid will not play with Nasties! Skull Kid not like Nasties. Nasties smell funny and Skull Kid not like Nasties in his play places, but Pretties are fun, and Skull Kid likes Pretties. Strangies have music? Skull Kid have music." The Skull Kid giggled and Produced his trumpet of which he played the notes of his forest. E, G, C, E, G, C, E, G, C, E, C, G, B, G, F, E.. The Skull Kid danced and waited expectantly for the game to begin.

Haleth stopped on his tracks when he saw the strange creature with the trumpet.
The smell of blood told him of corpses near... moblin corpses. He shuddered. He looked again at the creature who called himself Skull Kid and listened to his almost uncomprehensible chatter. It was strange and fast and high pitched, like his laugh and the sound of that strange trumpet of his. It seemed quite the inoffensive creature... but something... he felt something was not right, and then there was the smell of blood....
Skull Kid talked about "Nasties", which Haleth supposed he meant the moblins. The "pretties" he supposed were fairies, like Fask, as Skull Kid followed the green fairy with his eyes, and danced and then continued his strange rambling blabber to then get the trumpet and started playing.

Haleth remembered the ocarina Crimson gave him. His eyes opened wide. This Skull Kid seemed to want to play and said something about music..... The red haired hylian sheathed his sword and looked for the ocarina on his backpack. His smile grew when he found it.
"Fask.. I hope this works..." he whispered and he brought the ocarina to his lips. He played the ocarina, following the tune Skull Kid played. It was a simple tune once you had heard it a couple times, a simple and beautiful tune, a bit sad, a bit slow.

"You play awhile, and then some more, and maybe we can play forever!"

Quote:

Music began to play and it reverberated about the small wild clearing that Haleth and the Skull Kid shared. The notes became a duet and the Skull Kid began to do a jig about the branch he rested.

"Teehee! Pretties play nice, but the instrument is not property of Pretty. Skull Kid smell a rare Pretty on you! Magical Pretty... But Magical Sneaky Pretties no longer play with Skull Kid. They have left poor Skull Kid all alone. Sometimes Skull Kid finds one, but they are never able to play anymore. But you have smell of Sneaky Pretty so Skull Kid will play with you a special Skull Kid game!" The Skull Kid raised his trumpet to his lips and blew hard. The air exploded into green and red leaves and from the trees came the murdering puppets. There was something different about these clockwork puppets they moved close and swiped at Haleth."

The Skull Kid took off into the woods and toward a large stump opening. When his lantern got near it, the stump turned into a pathway. He ran through it with a giggle and hid himself through a series of these illusionistic paths until he settled in an area and began to play his tune.

Fask: Deku Fairy

"I will Help"

"Haleth! We can't get hit by them, Crimson said that we need to hit Skull Kid. Its a big game of Tag! He said that is we get hit too many times by the puppets, the Skull Kid will decide we lose and they will really hurt us! Skull Kid is dangerous, he has been killing things that come to the woods for a long time... Even Fairies sometimes if he doesn't like the color! So lets be careful. We need to hit him so he will be on the ground." Fask hovered about and started to swirl about Haleth before looking around. Above her she saw something and honed in on it and knew... They would be okay.

"Come on! Crimson is waiting for us! We shouldn't make him worry more than he usually does."

"What?!" Haleth exclaimed as he ducked away of the range of movement of the nearest puppet and running dodging and following Fask. "But that's so horrible... why would he? I thought he said he liked fairies...!!" he dodged the puppets as they appeared, and the ones that came too suddenly or too close he sliced or beat them with the sword to break them or make them swing away to have more time to run past them.
"So if we hit him, this will be done? You're swifter Fask, and you fly and have a better view... guide me, Let's do our best, but be careful ok?"

Fask flew away and he followed her. The fairy warned him of the puppets he didn't see coming and also whenever Haleth was not paying enough attention. They followed as best they could, following or trying to follow the source of Skull kid's tune. After a while, Haleth felt lost but he kept going on, following the fairy. This woods were a real maze and he was sure most of the turns he had taken them more than once, but he kept on.

He thought of the smell of blood and what Fask had told him about Skull Kid's cruelty, about if Crimson was ok whereves he was and what was he doing... and he didn't hear the fairy's warn untill it was too late and a puppet kicked him. He cursed and rolled on the ground and cursed himself again for being so careless. He got up and focused. He had to get his thoughts straight and to the point, for his own sake, but also 'cause much depened on him. And also because Crimson had his hopes set in him.
