Vena -- Open Redline/Critique Thread

Posted a Weekly Challenge:

Use a mirror (not a picture!!) to draw your face. Only use either GRAYSCALE or COMPLIMENTARY COLOR (adding B&W to make tone and shade).

A complimentary color set are colors that are at the opposite of the color wheel from each other. They are:

Violet and Yellow
Orange and Blue
Green and Red

You can use black and white to make other tones and values, and of course you can mix the colors together. Try to make as many values as you can!

If you do it on the computer, try mixing the colors yourself by lowering the opacity.

Hey, I did the first part of the assignment. For the rest of the week, I will try to figure out how to color it properly on the computer >_>

Overall I'm decently happen with the result. Was trying to draw without erasing too much. ^^

Oh it sounds so interesting ; I will go for the complementary colors. ( Funny how they still haven't taught us which one they are ._.)
But can we make them bolder ?
EDIT: I just found out I had an incredibly busy week ( SAE exams for the first term ....) So may you excuse me if i'm late?

You can do it any way you want =) Just as long as its only using the complimentary colors, black and white! (no pure b & w though!)

Sorry I haven't had a chance to post the "color" version. Hopefully I'll be inspired to do that soon. T.T It's past due. Maybe it should be named "Vena's Monthly Challenge"?

You can't really tell, but it's green and red colored pencil.. T.T About the closest to "color" I could get without royally screwing it up!

I have to say, you guys really came through on this, I think they both look fantastic =3

tiger, I love the line work and the portraiture, proportions and composition are excellent. syrella, I like your use of color for the lines, that is a pretty creative way to tackle the assignment. Very cool guys =)

and don't worry about being 'late'.. the assignments are really just for your own practice and benefit, honestly I was going to try to do it myself but I just have too much schoolwork to focus on right now.

if either of you want an in detail crit of the assignment just tell me in here, I am gonna go easy on them otherwise because it's more about exploring the medium.
