The "Word of Wisdom" does state something along both those lines, but I make my own calls. I don't drink, because I don't like what it can do. I don't drink coffee because it has acids in it that can tan the insides of your throat (not good).

Be yourself.
Despite what your friend did to you.
People suck. They really do.
But don't pick up something just because something bad happened to you.
Emo is music. It's not supposed to be a lifestyle or a emotion.
Remember that.
