It was all in his head and he knew it, but whenever he was touching Trista, he felt more powerful. The deities didn't quite get power from mortals like that and the title he bestowed upon her was adamantly just that a title. No formal position existed for such a role yet the two of them lived it so completely it was real. Now, back to back, nothing could stop them.
He would love to have kept all the mortals safe, and in infusing his powers of harmony into the light of the lantern he was trying. However, the focus was on the two of them until something better could be used. Mother would sort all this out, all they had to do was survive and do their best.
He didn't miss the sudden gender changes, following the arrow found the shooter. When he wished a little less harmony on the couple, this was NOT what he had in mind. "They can have Adonis! Frankly I am surprised he isn't drawing their attention by flexing in the middle of the beach. Actually that would be useful." Venus help them if Adonis used his 'powers' for good to distract the bats. With a little breathing room they could get something done.
Grendell took one look at the bats and their focus, then decided no. She shook her head and tugged on his hand towards one of the huts, "No, leave them be, the cage is safe enough. We need to take cover." Whatever angry thing was in that cage was doing a marvelous job distracting the bats. Let the fools fight to save what ever it was, she wanted none of that. Maybe if she had brought her morning-star. But no, that would be putting Leif in danger and she couldn't do that to such a wonderful pae!
He could overrule her, she'd accept that, but her plan was to use the distraction and hide
Tartara Seabreeze Tris and Harm back to back fighting and Gren saying too bad for you caged pae I am hiding with Leif
Lillibeth practically danced in the sky with two of the bats. Using her agility, she would swoop around them and take a talon swipe when she could. That was until one of the filthy bats plucked one of her beautiful tail feathers.
Oh. It. Was. On! Seething with anger she started to sing, a low sound not really words but a song nonetheless. Harpies are excellent singers, that talent was going to make the bats' bleed!
More aggressive than her normal nature, Lillibeth went full assault mode taking slashes out of any bat pae not watching what was above them while dodging around the two she had been fighting, "You darlings make a Naga look pretty!" That hit deeper than any talon as far as she saw it.

Serendipity kept close to Iordanes as the group was slowly moved outside of the building. She made sure to stay within reach of him, helping with calming and moving the party to outside. Every time she heard Iordanes' voice, she felt an ache in her body, wanting to be back in those arms and to feel his lips on hers. Oh how hard it was to stay focused.
At least, that was until she stepped outside and saw the terrors that awaited them all. The grasp on the object she'd grabbed earlier (turns out it was a mirror) tightened as her muscles tightened. Her mind raced as her body stood frozen, trying to process the chaos around her. It wasn't until Iordanes yelled a direction that she was able to snap free of her petrified limbs. "Got it!" She stumbled for the first step, then regained herself and sprinted to the cover of the trees while shielding herself against the onslaught of bat-Pae.
She leaned against a tree, gasping for breath and waiting for Iordanes to catch up to her. Her dress was torn from snagging bushes, her hair was falling down messily, but she was very much alive and well. "Where to now, deeper?"

Kelebek's clumsy feet caused her to trip in the soft sand several times, but she was able to regain her footing, by luck or through sheer adrenaline. By the time she'd almost made it to the water, though, her vision had cleared enough to see the creature rising from it, dripping with blackness like a nightmare itself emerging from the ocean. With a scream, she turned around just as a hand caught her shoulder and sent her face-first into the sand.
Her pulse raced and her eyes were wide with terror. Her breathing came in ragged gasps; she was in full-on panic. She was going to die here, and no one would know--
She felt a p***k in her side, causing her to yelp and look up in terror, but relief washed over her--it was Hjortur. Thank the Waters!
...and he was dripping with sweat and had saved her and his skin practically glistened, his muscles bulging underneath, and...
Nothing like a near-death experience to get you going, Kelebek supposed. She pushed her hair away from her face, ignoring the fact that her still-wet skin was now covered in sand and she must look the furthest thing from sexy. Her only thought was Hjortur, and all the things she wanted to do with him.
She sat up in a seductive pose and looked at him, eyes half-lidded, biting her bottom lip. "Much better now that you're here again," she almost purred in response.

Blinking and continue to look around them, Autumn began to instinctively scratch at the side of his face. His skin felt tight, like he would be straining to make any sort of facial movement. It was uncomfortable... "No idea..." he said absentmindedly, his eyes drifting over the many paeple running past them without taking any notice.
Things must be as bad out there as it had seemed...
Looking back to her, he let her words sink in. Mother... Her mother... Kel... Oh great reef beds he'd left his grandparents out there! Not to mention the rest of his family, siblings and father included.
"I don't know..." he said softly, almost whispering, eyes seeming to focus past her. Refocusing, his features seemed to catch her panic. "I left our parents out the--!! BLESS THE SEA WHAT IS THAT?!" As his voice raised he scooched backwards on the soil, the dirt smudging his skin and some pebbles scraping against him. His eyes were focused immediately above them where a pair, well, many pairs, of red eyes quickly descending upon them. He'd never seen the sorts of creatures that came into focus, but his gut told him they were bad news.
"Pearl..." his voice cracked, barely keeping it together. "...I don't think it'll matter where our parents are if we don't get out of here. Right. Now."

Nighthawk had her experiences from last year to thank for this fiercesome growl of hers. It didn't sound any particularly different than it had ever been, but the effect was far greater as of late. Few, if any, of the native creatures in her forest dared cross her anymore, a nice reprise from the harassment she'd often faced from some of the more dominant predators in the area.
She'd even been able to start recovering a lean layer of fat on her body, certainly an improvement from the emaciated mess she'd been when first left from the nest.
Looking over at the other harpy having her way with the bat pae, Nighthawk chose to dodge and parry her aggressors rather than attack in a similar manner. It wasn't that she didn't have the strength for it, although she certainly was a weaker harpy, but more so that she believed herself to not possess the strength. Still, for such a decorated bird, her combat ability was unexpected. No telling what could happen if she openly displayed her weakness.
"I ever say... I was havin' trouble?" she tried, mostly successfully, if it was a bit soft, to mimic her mother's old manner of speaking.

Hjortur felt a twinge of guilt when he realized he'd pushed his beloved face-first into the ground, which replaced with relief when she appeared to be alright. Thank the spirits that she was alright. In any other situation, he might have collapsed with the rush this feeling brought, but instead he steadied himself. Thinking it a side-stitch of sorts, he brushed off the pain in his side without more of a reaction than breathing in deeply and trying to calm his breath.
His heart fluttered, breath catching, as she looked back at him.
The way her disheveled hair twisted, matting down on itself and her face... How the sand seemed to stick to all of her curves and decorate her shimmering scales. But most of all, the hunger he could see in her eyes... Oh gods how he wanted needed to have his way with her. He wanted to mess her up even more with his own--
The sand beneath him seemed to shift, sending him stumbling forward with his thoughts and tripping right atop Kel. He caught himself from falling on her completely, but had (conveniently) found himself looking down at her, arms on either side of her head and his legs supporting him from between her own.

"Well, I'd say." Flashing her a heated smile, he was wholly unconcerned with the fact that the sand they were on was slowly being pulled from under them. Frankly, the lust he needed to crave was strong enough that it was dulling his instinct for self-preservation and replacing it only with that of self-propagation.

They would both be safe here, Lagoon hoped as she clung tightly to Paloma's hand, and ran into the jungle. Under normal circumstances, this could be romantic, but these were not normal circumstances. The jungle looked no better than outside of it, it may have even looked worse (it was a hard scenario for Lagoon to judge), but at least there were none of the bat pae attacking them. If they found shelter from the ooze, they could be safe and forget about their woes together.
There it was, shelter! Lagoon picked up speed, running towards the little village. She slowed down as she spotted the bat pae all gathered together. Lagoon wanted to stop, but the huts were calling to her with their protection. She and Paloma were spotted and several of the bats headed towards them. "Let's get inside." Lagoon urged Paloma, pulling her towards the door of the nearest hut. They quickly ran inside and Lagoon slammed the door behind them, and looking for something to ram against the door to keep it shut.
As she quickly searched the hut for something to use, she thought about the caged pae that was revealed when the bats moved towards them. She hadn't been able to give it any thought while outside, since she was so focused on getting them to safety, but she felt bad for the trapped pae. Perhaps they could look for some sort of weapons to use after they had the door sealed, and if they were feeling brave attempt to rescue the pae. There was a lot of bats though...

Andromeda's grasp on her spoon tightened as she gently tugged on Darias' good arm. "Aye, it seems the party be moving. Lets take what we can and follow. Be married under the sky, maybe on the beach with the surf at our feet." She let go of his arm and easily melted into the crowd, pocketing whatever small things she could.
Stepping outside, she gasped in horror at what she saw. Never in all their adventures had she seen such chaos as she saw now. Before she could even process it all, some ugly mother bat-pae was on her trying to take a chunk out of her arm. Spoon still in hand, she swung down hard on it's exposed neck, digging the handle into it's back. The little bugger immediately let go and backed off, startled by the attack back on it.
Andromeda growled at it, glowering. "Oye, ye think yer scary? I've fought much bigger, and much toothier. Run home, savvy?" She twirled the spoon in her fingers, flaring her wings out menacingly, then re-tucked them and headed for the beach. She and Darias had been separated (how stupid she'd been to lose him in the crowd) but she knew that if he went anywhere it would be the beach. Of course, the beach was as much a horror as the rest, with a pair of Pae sinking into pits and horrible goop monsters coming out of the tar that was the ocean. Gripping her spoon tightly, she cracked her neck, rolled her shoulders, then charged at the nearest monster with a mighty battle cry escaping her.

Admittedly this was easier than the naga's. The bat pae were more numerous but they were smaller. Weaker. She was able to fend off the almost unrelenting onslaught. "Ha! I don't think Venus would like that though." Another slice, another fallen bat. The lantern certainly was a blessing.
The good in his heart yelled to save those pae. But his hormonal young self was telling him to follow that red head where ever she said. If she wanted to go into the huts, then huts it was. "You know best." Crouching down, hoping that they weren't be seen, he started towards the hut she had tugged towards.

She wasn't letting go, oh no. Sure she only had one hand to bat away the bats, but if she let go she couldn't be sure they wouldn't get separated again. "To the Jungle! We can hide!" And he was too cute to die out there!
She wasn't sure what he was apologizing for. The lack of getting kissed inside, or how he froze like a statue. "Don't even worry about it. That's not important now." Either way, she wasn't mad at him. Of course he didn't kiss her, why would he? He was so sweet and she was, well. Her. And so what if he chocked back there? She couldn't blame him. It was almost unbelievable how horrible it looked around them. Even as they broke the treeline, she kept running. Not until they were completely clear of evil bat pae would she stop.

"Its okay. I don't really feel it." He was used to carrying heavy things. Tools were not light, and he'd fill his packs to the brim for trading. Monroe was considerably lighter than a full pack. So despite the various cuts and bites, he was still able to run at a full gait. Until they stopped at a fork in the path. And then, he suddenly looked down at her when she spoke again. "Y-you do? That's...that's great!" What an odd mixture of feelings. Traumatized by killer bat pae and beyond thrilled that Monroe returned his affections.
"We'll...celebrate that later though. First, I think that way is the village. It should be safe there." Finally, albeit slowly, Gray lowered Monroe back to her feet so that she could run beside them. Here at least it looked like there weren't any enemies, but they couldn't stay there for long. Who knew until they caught up with them? "That sound good?"
He turned to talk to Andromeda...but she wasn't there anymore. He didn't like that. He didn't like that AT ALL. With a roar, his clothing began to tear as the transformation took place. Fingers became claws, and his skin became scaly. Teeth were as sharp as his claws, and a mighty, powerful tail pulled away from his spine outwards. Half pae, half crocodile. His quick eyes caught the beach in the distance. She would know to meet up there. He began tearing through the crowd. It didn't matter if it was regular pae or bat. Shetani, Naiad, Fae, Bat, Cherub, they all were met with equal force as he barreled through like a demon on a mission. Their screams barely registered in his mind.
With that kind of determination, he reached the shoreline quite quickly. Of course he wasn't expecting what was awaiting for him. Horrible, goopy monstrosities. But there she was. Slagathor.
Gauging a poor critter with - a spoon?! He threw back his head in a laugh. An almost bloodchilling unimaginabley twisted sound coming from a half croc throat. Then he threw himself at the closest glob which had turned into a fae. His jaws clamped around its throat and yanked, tearing a huge chunk away. He'd fight until EVERY LAST ONE was DEAD. Then he and Slagathor would steal Venus' boat, and sail away. Simple as that.

Monroe had a hard time believing that he couldn't feel it, but figured he was just trying to be tough. He was tough, taking on those bat pae to protect her like he was. "Still... Maybe I can do something about it when we find someplace to stop."
A small smile rose to Monroe's face, she was still horribly frightened, but she was glad that they could find a little hope in at least this one thing. "Yeah, the village will probably be safe," She agreed with a slow nod as her toes reached out for the ground when he lowered her. Monroe ran beside Gray until they got to the village, they were met with disappointment. "Oh no, they're here too." Monroe whispered as she spotted two pae (Summer and Xylia) up ahead, fighting the bat pae. Monroe stopped in her tracks. "Oh my gosh, they're trying to rescue someone, I think." Monroe added as she caught a glimpse of the caged pae behind the bat pae. "Do you think we should help?" Monroe bit her lip, she wasn't sure how much help she would be, but Gray had his dagger... She didn't want him to get hurt either though.
