I hope you guys like Communism, if not, tough luck comrade!

In preparation for a new campaign, the SSU unveils more advanced technology, and the Axis counters with a new walker. With these exciting units, the battle for supremacy in Dust Tactics becomes even more deadly! Joining the mighty SSU bloc is the fearsome SSU Ground Attack Helicopter, the swift SSU Airborne Walker Transport, and the gritty SSU Commissar Squad. Meanwhile, the versatile Panzer-Kampfäufer III brings extra toughness to Axis forces.

SSU Commissar Squad
The SSU Commissar Squads are unique in how they operate on the battlefield. Sometimes they are deployed as a single unit, but more often they’re attached individually to squads. Commissars are political agents tasked with enforcing the SSU’s ideology, and they do that quite effectively embedded in infantry squads. From there, they can also bolster each squad’s fighting abilities.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Commissars act much like heroes when joining a squad. In fact, some of them have special abilities that you are already likely familiar with, like Badass and Assault. Also, some commissars are equipped with unique weapons that can add extra punch to any unit, including the DPM machine gun and the PTRS-47 missile launcher. Whether fielded as a unit or dedicated to other infantry squads, the SSU Command Squad brings additional firepower and abilities to your SSU force.

SSU Airborne Walker Transport
Dropping walkers in the midst of battle, the SSU Airborne Walker Transport strikes with lightning speed. This expansion comes with a KV-47 Walker that has been modified for aerial transport. This altered walker has three optional builds, meaning there is a perfect option for any situation. The speed and strength of the SSU Airborne Walker Transport are an effective pairing.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The three optional builds for the altered KV-47 Walker included with the SSU Airborne Walker Transport are the Nastasia, Nikita, and Nina. All of these walkers have the Assault ability that makes them even faster once they deploy on the battlefield. Nikita has an artillery weapon that allows you to make attacks without line of sight when paired with a spotter squad, and the Nastasia has a long-ranged gun that is useful for combatting aerial threats. The Nina makes use of dual RPG-47s, which fire short ranged anti-armor rockets. With a single hit from this powerful weapon, most walkers are reduced to scrap.

SSU Ground Attack Helicopter
Enter the SSU Ground Attack Helicopter! This potent gunship is the heavyweight of the SSU forces, and it’s rightly respected by all of the SSU’s foes. Featuring four variations, the SSU Ground Attack Helicopter can handle any task with its massive arsenal of weapons to choose from, including machine guns, cannons, rockets, bombs, and more. The only question is what combination of weapons will you use to annihilate your enemy?

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Striker uses a mix of machine guns and cannons to halt the approach of enemy infantry, and it is quite capable of providing air superiority as well. Armed with Napalm and Rocket pods, the Burner lives up to its name. Hovering above the battle, the Airblaster searches for targets on which to drop its 250kg bombs. Finally, the Death Rain mixes incendiary Napalm with bombs to create an inferno of destruction at short range.

Panzer-Kampfäufer III
To combat the SSU forces, the Axis unveils new walkers. The Panzer-Kampfäufer III expansion supports three separate walker builds. This walker type features heavier armor and improved toughness to withstand more damage from enemy fire.

The Flamm-Luther is equipped with two Schwer Flammenwerfers. This oversized flamethrower can melt away even the thickest of armor. In addition, this walker has the Assault ability. The Wotan uses long-ranged laser weapons to punch holes through unfortunate soldiers and vehicles. The last build option in this expansion is the Wotan-AR that features the same laser cannons as the Wotan, but it has heavier armor for added protection.

Support your troops
The SSU adds flexibility, speed, and brute strength to their faction with the SSU Commissar Squad, SSU Airborne Walker Transport, and SSU Ground Attack Helicopter. These expansions give SSU commanders the tools they need to compete on any battlefield. In response, the Axis introduces the Panzer-Kampfäufer III, a tough and versatile walker platform. These Dust Tactics expansions will be available late second quarter 2012.

Remember, when you add reinforcements to your Dust Tactics army, you’re also building your Dust Warfare force at the same time! All of the Dust Tactics expansions, including those announced in this article, can be used in the forthcoming Dust Warfare tabletop game. With one set of miniatures for two games, all you will need to start playing Dust Warfare is the Core Rulebook.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

What we get is nice all in all! The commissar squad is a first: a unit that can be fielded as a squad or broken up into five separate squad boosters. While the choppers are ********, they do bring to the table a new element: air support. The aerial transport is a nice touch, especially paired with walkers that have the assault ability. Finally, at long last heavy German walkers with a different leg pose! Not to mention, we finally get the Wotan as the domestic version, not the Japanese Ryu variant. Happy!

Amazing Detail. Amazing Price.
Twenty years ago, you could go into a gaming store with a couple of bills and come out with a handful of minis. Not so much today. But today's quality is far superior to those figures of the past. Reaper's Bones meet that sweet spot where low price intersects with incredible detail. All the fiddly bits you love to paint are there at prices that will astound you.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Ready to Paint
Out of the box, these incredible figures take paint without priming. Our Master Series Paints cover these models perfectly right out of the bottle, and the paint sticks -- standing up to most sorts of tabletop abuse your friday night group would be able to dish out.

Perfect for Hobbyists and Gamers
Need to reposition an arm? You have your eye on one of the shields in our conversion packs? Grab some snips and modeling glue and go nuts. Bones' polymer material reacts beautifully with cyanoacrylate adhesives. Conversions and weapon swaps take about as long as your glue takes to dry.

Check out the full range and their incredible low prices here: https://www.reapermini.com/miniatures/bones

Mac's thoughts: Who doesn't remember those days? Probably not a lot of you lot sadly, must be showing my age. While I haven't seen these models in the flesh myself, Reaper is a reliable company that doesn't lie or show off unless deservedly so. What we're seeing here is the start of a great range of minis and model packs that are ideal for Friday night D&D sessions, kids parties, painting contests and anything else you can think of. $3,49 for six Kobolds? Sure, there are three variant models and they are mono-pose, but three-fifty for six models? Deal! Can't wait to see where this is going!

“They are a scourge upon our galaxy, the most vile and sadistic of all our xenos foes, and a peril to any who would ply the void in search of profit or gain. Whatever happens, should the shadow of their ships darken your path, pray you die fighting at the helm of your vessel, lest ‘fortune’ favours you and they take you alive…"
–Magos Domos Agnelain, Explorator

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The Dark Eldar are a plague upon the Koronus Expanse; raiders, slavers, pirates, and even Rogue Traders suffer at their barbed lashes and blades. Any who cross the Maw and sail the void of the Koronus Expanse learn to fear the wicked silhouettes of their ships and their seemingly endless cruelty towards all life, including their own. Only vigilance and firepower keep the worst depredations of these terrible raiders at bay, though from the dens of Footfall to the commerce halls of Port Wander there are countless tales of crew lost and ships savaged in their sudden attacks...

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of The Soul Reaver, an adventure in three parts for Rogue Trader! This epic campaign is a chance for daring Explorers to look deep into the twisted heart of Dark Eldar society in the Koronus Expanse, and pull the greatest heist of their careers.

Betrayal and lies
For more on The Soul Reaver, here’s a word from developer Max Brooke:

Rogue Trader is all about risk and profit. Namely, taking huge risks in the name of reaping massive profits. And what bigger gamble could there be than plucking an ancient and powerful warship from the very heart of a Dark Eldar city within the webway?

The Soul Reaver starts with a heist, but things are rarely as they seem when you're dealing with the treacherous Dark Eldar. The Explorers have to bet everything more than once to survive the machinations of several competing factions within the city and come away from this web of lies and betrayal with their promised reward. Of course, the Explorers have a chance to do some betraying of their own, and to this end, The Soul Reaver contains the Dark Eldar Kabalite Warrior Career Path. This full new Career, designed for use in this adventure and beyond, allows players to take the sadistic power of the Dark Eldar into their own hands for the first time in Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay.

I'm very excited about the new resources that The Soul Reaver contains for creating dangerous and memorable characters, and GMs and players alike should enjoy using these rules in their adventure through the twisted depths and perilous heights of Dark Eldar society!

Check back often over the coming months as we preview The Soul Reaver, and look for it on store shelves late in the second quarter.

My thoughts: About time they included the Dark Eldar into Rogue Trader proper. My only complaint thus far is.. another "greatest heist of their careers" plot? Citadel of Skulls already had you raid the fortress of the most powerful Chaos Reaver in the Koronus Expanse, but an adventure is an adventure. What to expect though? If Lure of the Expanse is of any indication, a nice thick tome with a lot of room for detail, I just hope that this book isn't too heavy on the railroading.

AMERIKANER! AMIS! YANKS! TEAM AMERICA!

Quote:
Pre-order plastic Bolt Action US Infantry!

The latest plastic set for our Bolt Action WWII range is almost here but you can place pre-orders now and ensure you get yours first! These fantastic new plastic GIs are released later this month (March).

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The boxed sets contains parts to make 25 plastic, multi-pose US infantrymen. There are several backpack and equipment options on the sprues so you can use this set to represent American footsloggers from their introduction to the Second World War in 1941 right through to the end of WWII. They wouldn’t look out of place in the Pacific and would even be good for US troops in the Korean War. For those of you after something a little bit different for an army how about painting them as Free French soldiers (they used US uniforms and equipment) or even Brazilians!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Above are just some of the many options you have for building and equipping your plastic GIs. Wearing their Parsons Jacket and woolen trousers they are the classic GI in every regard. There is a variety of head options in the box – from uncovered helmets to the net-covered versions. We’ve also included the soft cap worn under helmets and even a cigar-chewing head with helmet straps dangling loose – the ‘Sarge’ character we’ve all seen in a number of comic book strips and movies!

As with our previous plastic Bolt Action boxed sets there are two different sprues – one with weapons and the other with bodies and equipment. This allows ultimate flexibility in building, converting and painting your troops. Spare weapons and equipment are always well put to use as stowage on your vehicles and or as captured weapons on your Germans!

On the weapons sprue you’ll find Springfield and Garand rifles, M1 Carbines, Thompson and Grease Gun SMGs, sniper rifles, combat shotgun, Bazooka and stacks more!

New: Soviet Assault Engineers!

This week the Red Army received reinforcements in the form of these engineers in body armour!

The first pack contains 8 combat engineers, equipped with a variety of weaponry – from the ubiquitous PPSh SMG, DP-28 LMG, flamethrower and a variety of anti-tank weaponry!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

On August 19th in the Smolensk region, Soviet forces were continuing their attempt sot capture a key hill which had been transformed by the occupying Germans into a fortified position. Following several unsuccessful assaults on the hill, the Soviet command threw a special unit into the fray. The German defenders were astonished to see the Russians shrugging off most of their fire and pressing their attack still.

The unit in question were soldiers of the assault engineers brigade and had been equipped with body armour which proved extremely successful. During the battle one Russian soldier’s weapon jammed and, turning away to let his body deflect the shots, he survived a full clip being shot at him from a German officer. The Soviet then proceeded to kill the German Officer with the butt of his rifle.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

In just half an hour the Soviets had captured the hill that had caused them so much trouble for the previous two weeks, with the armoured assault engineers to the fore, closing fast with the enemy and despatching them in hand-to-hand combat. During this assault the brigade suffered just 2 dead and 19 wounded!

Equipped not only with protective body armour but with sub machine guns, flamethrowers, anti-tank rifles and large quantities of grenades these troops were further identified by their loose-fitting camouflage suits. Fifteen of these specialist armoured units were raised during the war.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

My thoughts? F*CK YES, this is going to rock, about time we got plastic GI's! If their previous kits are anything to go by, a must have for me. Also, them Russian assault engineers are bosses with their over the top heavy body armour (read: plates of steel).

From Forge World: the Warpfire Dragon

The fell beasts named by scholars as Warpfire Dragons are hateful and ruinous creatures, albeit thankfully a rare sight in the Old World. Their long, charred-black bodies constantly twitch and shudder as if tormented by unseen blades, and clusters of strange crystals mar their scaled hides. The very air about them throbs with tainted power, and their breath is like no other dragon’s; a coruscating blast of scintillating red-black lightning that can scorch even ethereal spirits and other creatures of magic.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The destructive power and twisted form of a Warpfire Dragon is fuelled and maintained by devouring pure warpstone. Only the mighty constitution of a dragon could withstand the effects of so much concentrated power without it being torn to pieces, although the violent death of such a creature often leads to a spectacular and explosive end. The scarcity of warpstone often brings a Warpfire Dragon into conflict with the Skaven, and it is with the promise of this immensely powerful material that the most arrogant (or insane) of wizards will seek to strike a bargain with the creature; although it is said that even the legendary Binding Scrolls of Kadon are not enough to fully control such a malign and wicked beast.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Warpfire Dragon, model designed by Steve Whitehead, is a complete resin and plastic kit, available to pre-order now for despatch from Monday 2nd April. This magnificently detailed kit stands just over 5" tall with a 9" wingspan, making a fantastic centrepiece for any Warhammer army.Experimental rules, taken from the forthcoming Warhammer Forge Monstrous Arcanum book, are available to download now.

145 - a number now synonymous with the new Citadel Paint range, which you can see above in all its Technicolor glory. From greens and blues, through to reds and pinks (yes, we have pink paint again!) you will soon have access to the new and exciting world of Citadel Paint. From today there will be 145 new colours available to order, all with new formulas, to help you paint your Citadel miniatures to the very highest standard possible. Suffice to say, this is a pretty monumental day for us here at Games Workshop - we haven't released this many paints since, well... for a very long time. This is now, to use a Warhammer 40,000 analogy, an Apocalypse-scale paint range.

From our friends at Forge World something completely different:

Quote:
Hi there,
We’ve got two amazing new Space Marine releases this week: a Minotaurs Character Set comprising Asterion Moloc and Ivanus Enkomi, and the Space Marine Rapier Laser Destroyer, a powerful weapon perfect for use in Boarding Assault missions or with the new Forge World Zone Mortalis expansion. We’re also now able to announce more information about our Studio presence at the Forge World Open Day to be held here at Warhammer World in Nottingham on Sunday 1st April.

Minotaurs Character Set – Asterion Moloc and Ivanus Enkomi
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The name of the bloody-handed and paranoid master of the Minotaurs Chapter, Asterion Moloc, is a byword for slaughter and destruction in the name of the Imperium across a hundred worlds, yet he is also a diligent and disciplined logistician and a master of siege craft. In battle he can most often be found at the head of his 1st Company Terminators, and when not prosecuting a conflict he occupies a brazen throne at the very heart of his flagship, the labyrinthine heavy assault carrier Daedelos Krata.

The gaunt and brooding Reclusiarch Ivanus Enkomi became the eyes and voice of his master during the Badab War; an aloof and distant observer at Carab Culln’s war-councils. A paradox, whose red-irised eyes and crimson-tattooed features speak of some feral origin, yet in whose voice lies a capacity for fierce and stirring oratory, Chaplain Enkomi is a skilled tactical commander, most notably during the Loyalist attack on Shaprias that uncovered the black depths to which the Tyrant of Badab’s treachery had sunk.

Asterion Moloc and Ivanus Enkomi, designed by the talented Simon Egan, are incredibly detailed multi-part resin figures available as a set of two models. The set is available to pre-order now for despatch from the 2nd April, and rules for these special characters can be found in Imperial Armour Volume 10: The Badab War Part 2.

Space Marine Rapier Laser Destroyer
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The Rapier Armoured Carrier is an ancient device, one of many such technological relics of the dawning days of Mankind’s stellar empire. A bulky, armoured track unit, which mounts a powerful antomantic reactor, the Rapier is often armed with a powerful quad lascannon known as a laser destroyer. This has become synonymous with the Rapier Armoured Carrier itself, and the Graia Pattern Rapier Laser Destroyer is perhaps the most common design of this potent anti-tank weapon in use.

The Space Marine Rapier Laser Destroyer is often deployed by many Space Marine chapters, especialy those descended from the Imperial Fists and Iron Hands Legions, and is widely used during Boarding Assaults and in the close and deadly confines of Zone Mortalis. Designed by Mark Bedford and Will Hayes, this multi-part resin kit is supplied with two Space Marine crew in MkIII ‘Iron’ Armour and is available to pre-order now for despatch from the 2nd April. Experimental rules for the Space Marine Rapier Laser Destroyer are available to download from the Forge World website now.

Also shown off are the two event exclusive models for this year: The Imperial Enforcer with cyber-mastiff and Skin Wolf.

Might be out of place here, but Warlord Games has finally put their Pike & Shotte rulebook on pre-order. Their sculptor is still working on the mini that goes with all copies ordered from their site, but here's what they have so far:

Quote:
And so it starts – our long-awaited Pike & Shotte rulebook is almost here!

The last touches to the book have been made and now it’s down to the printers. We’ll be unleashing it at Salute in London on Saturday April 21st. You can place your pre-order for this awesome-looking book and ensure you receive it first…

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

As you can see from the fabulous cover, the book covers more than just English Civil War and Thirty Years War. A labour of love, written by Steve Morgan, the book also covers the Italian Wars, Tudor Wars in the British Isles and War of the Grand Alliance.

The format of the inner pages will be a familiar one to those who already own our Hail Caesar and Black Powder rulebooks – loads of eye candy to back up the rules! With 208 pages in the book you’ll be ket busy for some time digesting the rules or drooling over the photographs or beautifully painted miniatures.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

You can place a pre-order for the book now. We’ll ensure your copy will leave us first and you will also receive a free miniature of the ensign artwork (as illustrated by Peter Dennis) into the bargain! The model is being finished by Wojtek at the moment and we’ll show him off in next week’s newsletter.

When you place a pre-order you’ll be given the choice of collecting your copy at Salute on the day or having it posted out to you.
